Agreed. Not even sure why this thread still gets much action. He left. Yes, he was pushed towards the door, but he left. He signed the contract (and his agent was doing a very good job of raising his profile in the 6 months prior to the exit). Good luck to him. I even hope to see him back at Rovers at some point in the future, but so long as he isn't here then I have no reason to hope that his clubs do well. I was hoping City smashed them. I mean, I wasn't there, it was maybe 3 years before I got into football. But from what I infer from the moaning I see, a lot of people are holding a grudge against them for more than 30 years because a referee handled the game poorly and cost us promotion. Which doesn't sound like good reasoning. I'm sure someone can tell me what I'm missing about it.

Its already been admitted by Suhail that the owners couldn't send any money over at one point. We had to sell Wharton to pay the bills. Steve Parish was also on Talksport talking about the deal, and at first questioned why a supposedly good player was available for so little. Said he knew we needed the cash. I don't think Palace even had to low ball us, we obviously gave them a figure and they probably came back with a lower offer, sensing our desperation but we held out for what we'd been hawking him around for in the first place. Basically, due to the complete incompetence of our owners and their court case, we've been forced to sell the best player our academy ever produced on the cheap, getting less than a full season of games out of him in the process.

Certainly is always more of a gamble at Rovers due to the lack of significant loan fees paid for the better talents.

The frustrating thing about Roberts was that he spent a lot of time on his arse, which was strange given that he could just bulldoze any defenders in the world when he wanted to. I still enjoyed having him here.

Then we reject the bid for not being what we wanted. But we couldn't because we was desperate. The argument was that we got a poor deal due to the circumstances. The counter argument seems to rely on the idea that even if we weren't so desperate, the deal was likely to not be any more beneficial to us long term, just structured differently.

Cryptic, but even so, makes absolutely no difference to us unfortunately. Might be used to further justify us getting a poor fee though.

That's more like the realistic scenario. Even if (and I certainly doubt it) that we got remotely close to £30 million, there's no way would the future sell on be as high as 15%.
