  1. Past hour
  2. I just looked up Ellis Achong up on wiki. Apparently when he was the pro for Burnley against Todmorden he once took all 10 wickets. When he batted he made 0. That’s cricket for you.
  3. June and July, no footy.
  4. The Rolling Stones - Living In The Heart Of Love
  5. That Poku who plays for the Dutch U-21 team looks to be a real player. The next Doku. If we had any real money we should have been over there with the cheque book. Magic beans won’t do the trick.
  6. Jon Russell from Barnsley latest name being mentioned. Cracking midfielder who knows where the back of the net is
  7. One of the Trust's main focuses for next season has to be building the membership. Mark the 150th anniversary season with an offer of Β£1.50 for the first year's annual membership (with recurring Β£10 fee for every subsequent year).
  8. I look forward to the international breaks. At least my weekends aren’t spoiled then.
  9. Wilson Pickett - In The Midnight Hour
  10. Another ex workmate of mine captained Castleton Moor back in those days. He lived near the ground and was in the nets every night. The pro at the time was Ellis Achong, of β€œ Chinaman β€œ fame. In one game Achong was bowling and the wicket was doing nothing, the opposing team were scoring quite freely off Achong. So, with some trepidation, my pal approached Achong and said - β€œ I think it’s time for a bowling change Ellis β€œ. Achong, quick as a flash said - I agree, put Bill Jones on at the other end ! β€œ. He told another story about a New Zealand pro called Badcock. He’d batted quite well in the first innings and had got a collection. The tea break was interrupted by a rain shower so Badcock had spent some of the collection at the bar ! When the game re-started Badcock came on to bowl, and ran up straight into the stumps and fell over. He had to be helped from the field.
  11. Would have happily signed him but you could also argue Poku is unproven at this level
  12. Poku going to QPR for 900k... Whilst we're scouring Europe for weird unproven players... Christ.
  13. Sure but not because he scored a couple of goals. Money talks... All our deals are cheap or free, there's a snag in the contract or something else that makes us attempt to get a good value player for less than his worth, it seems.
  14. Today
  15. It's a fair argument....February is short, seems to go quickly (albeit depressing as it's when we usually have a death spiral), January perhaps, but there's all that 'new year new me' optimism, everyone's in the same boat. November is just crap though, clocks have changed, it's starting to get dark, it rains every day, the dread of months of cold, wet, dark days ahead. It has a rubbish International break in the middle of it too.
  16. This isn't true. It has been like that the past two seasons, but before that it was how Rev described for the previous 4 seasons, 19/20, 20/21, 21/22 & 22/23.
  17. #3 Status Quo on their 20th anniversary tour. The following night the gig was attended by Charles & Di…
  18. I had forgot all about those. oh the memories, Santa Cruz too. I loved us under Hughes. No one liked playing us.
  19. Thanks for that, watched it yesterday. Really well done to all the speakers πŸ‘ Rovers, however are just a complete and total embarrassment, bringing the shutters down and cutting communications because the fans are unhappy. Are we run by stroppy 14 year old teenagers? And Suahil thinks Venkys, one of the biggest disasters in our clubs history should write the foreword for our 150 year anniversary book πŸ˜‚. Jog on you fucking prick (although Waggotts reply to that did make me laugh)
  20. Surely January and February are the most depressing months of the year, no?
  21. From now on your Delta Tau Chi name is......."Loo Roll".
  22. We also did well when we had McCarthy, Bellamy, Jansen etc banging in the goals. We havent done particularly well in the last 15 years regardless of who we have had. In fact, some of our highest finishes in that time did include a main goalscorer or 2.
  23. Yesterday
  24. It almost always seems like when we have a goal machine we don't do so great, Shesrer and Garner aside. Likes of Armstrong, Rhodes, Gestede.
  25. Neil Hawke, another Aussie, was the East Lancs pro in the late 1960s. Yours truly faced him in the nets a couple of times. My grandad loved watching Learie Constantine (β€œConny”) - one of the all time greats - at Rammy. He used to dash down to the ground when word got round that Conny was β€œin”. Another Ramsbottom pro was Clive Rice, one of the best players to play for South Africa and had a great career with Notts.
