  1. Past hour
  2. That assessment of Miller is spot on
  3. I also offer faint praise for the away kit of the L1 season. Again (as mentioned above) a fantastic kit worn by players who deserved to wear it.
  4. Wonder why we didn't bother with fictional white shirts on our Centenary 50 years ago? There must have been people still living then who had grand-parents or who when they were young knew of people who were about at the time?
  5. Probably more that they know their targets but the budget doesn't allow them to get them.
  6. Today
  7. Why not play Litherland further up field, he almost scored to in the 1st 20 minutes against Millwall, and Doherty a young striker we signed. If we're doing nothing up front, it puts our defence under a lot more pressure.
  8. Doherty was on the bench against Sheff Wed not used. Could he do worse than Wednesday nights effort.
  9. Thanks for this that's really helpful to know
  10. Admittedly put my hand up and would like to try and get something going with this although I'm not well versed in the laws of the land but happy to make up a group of us willing to participate in pushing for something local to the ground
  11. Phillips has probably accelerated his development by playing more since leaving than he probably would had he stayed. Wharton is a special case, not the norm.
  12. Ashley Phillips probably trebled his wages and has played regular championship football every season since he left. I’m not too sure he would have been that better off staying.
  13. Agree with this. It's either a shortsightedness on behalf of the player / his parents, or pressure from an agent only interested in lining his own pockets. Adam Wharton is a perfect example of how to do it, if you believe enough in your own talents. Excel for the first team, give a little back to the club that developed you, then leave as a more rounded player, for a larger sum. It's a shame to see players like Phillips, Finneran and now seemingly Tyjon put their long-term development at risk for the sake of some bigger bucks in the short term.
  14. he`s spent a fortune by rovers standards😁
  15. You've got people on the Barnsley board saying he can probably be had for Β£1.5m, whereas other Barnsley fans think Β£4m, especially considering his age and the interest in him. Clearly we've not done our homework, again.
  16. As always, playing silly buggers. Desperately need a CF with Gudjohnsen out for a month. You've apparently identified one (sat next to his agent at the recent Barnsley game - or so they tell us). Stop fannying about with lowball bids. Whoever we sign at CF needs to be in tomorrow.
  17. He's spent an absolute fortune. Playoffs or he'll be looking over his shoulder I think.
  18. Why would I have info on transfers? Ismael might be prepared and have agreed to sign x, y and z. So were previous managers. He isnt the reason many fear a slow and/or poor window.
  19. We also could do with more natural cover for Alebiosu for when he comes back, just because he is so important. I would rather see Litherland play at centre back. You can tell he isnt a wing back. I appreciate on the cheap that its hard especially as its essentially back up but I think we need to take a look.
  20. Think of the players that wore those shirts. No wonder we were intimidating.
  21. VI has a short memory. All the transfer budgets gone on improving the pitch, with his blessing. πŸ˜‚
  22. Didn't realise my "O'Riordan better than Miller" musing would cause a 4 page debate... To clarify my opinion. Miller is a liability when dribbling. If feels like 10% of his dribbles lead to tackles that are borderline lunges. He takes FAR too long to play/clear the ball down the sidelines, with I'd bet 1 in 3 being blocked - occasionally causing danger. His passing in general is easily his poorest trait. He makes the odd good forward pass (Ohashi scores the odd wonderful goal), but many are simply passed to an opponent in the middle of the pitch. Overall I think he is an okay RCB. Championship level. But anyone who tries to defend his passing, dribbling and all round urgency are not seeing the same guy as me. I hope O'Riordan is better. Otherwise, what is the point.
  23. Whoever is trying to organise this. Please feel free to get in touch via DM. I spoke with someone who is heavily involved with Prism in the town centre and they'd be more than happy to help get the ball rolling and provide some expertise and knowledge on what is needed.
  24. For 3 more weeks. His absence doesn't constitute a need for a signing, especially given how long it takes for us to get our ducks in a row in the market. Probably be a week before he's back at best by the time we signed someone, if not him returning first. Your other points are fairer. Though it should be remembered we can't afford/attract a genuinely good RWB to mostly be Alebiousu's understudy, the backup is always going to be flawed. I'm more bothered about improving the first 11, and getting another goalscorer in. I'd be leaving any decision on getting another RWB when we have got other ducks in a row (striker, centre half, future Tronstad replacement to settle in for the summer, if we've managed to find one who is good enough that we can afford). By the time we have done that, we'd know more about our remaining budget, and more about whether Litherland is adequate filling in there if Alebiousu gets injured. Because an adequate backup is about all we can expect at present. If he keeps performing as he has, I think Litherland qualifies for that for now, and can also be backup for a back three spot if his form or injuries warrant, meaning he should get a reasonable amount of development time if he's up to it.
