Underdog Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Do you have any information regarding players leaving Turf Moor Mr Nixon?
cn174 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Well lets see what they say on match of the day 2. Not much about rovers!! Anelka, Kevin Nolan bla bla bla
brfcshabba Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Well lets see what they say on match of the day 2. Absolutely nothing
modes98 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hughes is going thats for sure if Newcastle come in for him, which is a damb shame, i just hope he doesn't take Bentley Cruz and Samba with him I feel the end is nigh. For Hughes time at rovers and in the managerial business. Newcastle will be the death of his aspirations for Manyoo.
Dunnfc Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hughes aint leaving but he did stutter and take his time in phrasing his words to the reporter of motd2. HUGHES 2 STAY!
John Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 "There hasn't been any contact with me," said Hughes. "I don't know if the chairman has had any, but I've just seen him and he hasn't mentioned it. "I've got a good club and I'm proud to be manager of Blackburn, but in football you can never say never. Sometimes things get taken out of your hands.
RevidgeBlue Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I am not saying it is impossible Hughes will go there. Alarm blares out: "ATTENTION Philip reversing, ATTENTION Philip reversing...................."
Nelsta Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 I think i've resigned myself to it....I hope he stays but it seems to me it's getting more unlikley he'll turn it down with each passing hour. Wich ever way it goes i just want it sorted so we can get on with it.
Alan75 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 The Times guy was there. He obviously got the gist. The point remains, the boss had the chance to put this to bed, to a specific question giving him that chance...and he did not. He's just giving the hacks something to speculate on for the next few issues
Paul Mellelieu Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Having been reminded of Bolton's approach to the game today, if MH does leave, I hope BFS doesn't end up at Ewood.
John Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted in another thread, but Sidwell has gone on loan to Sunderland. Nicko, did we ever genuinely try to for him? I think he would have been a great signing.
Exiled in Toronto Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Hughes aint leaving but he did stutter and take his time in phrasing his words to the reporter of motd2. HUGHES 2 STAY! Stutter? He dried up completely. A question for the Trust-worshippers on here: if Jack were still around, what would he be doing right now: three points off a champions league place, TV income going through the roof and a 'big club' sniffing around the manager? He wouldn't be trying to sell up and saying the cupboard is bare. If I were Hughes, I would snatch Newcastle's hand off if offered. What use is a great relationship with a paid lackey of a chairman when he gets nothing to spend? Why should Hughes stay when the owners want out? I've been saying for a long time now that having owners who have no ambitions for us is a bad situation to be in, and unfortunatley I think it is coming home to roost. Second question for the Trust groupies: that league table of money spent over the last 4 years showed Bolton, who attract gates of 18,000, spending 20 million more than us, and getting most of it back the other day the result of an an excellent piece of speculative buying of Anelka - the sort that if we tried it, would immediatley send us into a Leeds-like death spiral, so I keep being told on here. Where did they get all that money from when we are the ones with a Trust Fund?
Nelsta Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Spurs have made an 8 million pound bid for Downing.
Hasta Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 There will be stories tomorrow, I fear my paper among them, saying he is getting the job. If that's true back now on Betfair and get laying tomorrow. Betfair price on Sparky was 5.9 when Nicko posted earlier , currently in to 3.95
DudeAbides Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Id be sounding out sam allardyce if i were the board ....

vintageadidas Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Lets face it, he has ambition and if he cracks it up there - he will be a god and then considered for the Man United job. However, he could also ruin his career by taking the job. I think if it was offered to him he would take it. If he does, we move on and offer the job to Martin Jol or Big Sam. We have a good team and will be left in a good position as usually managers jump ship. I just hope if they are going to move for Sparky it is soon, so we have a chance to be active in the market.
brfc_jonesy Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 i reckon hughes has gone, that interview before the game was enough for me to say that is his last game in charge of us. i wont be too distressed if he goes. good manager but lets face it we're a stepping stone for managers and players
tony gale's mic Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 i would hate for big sam to manage our club. and i doubt we could get martin jol, i think he'd see it as a step down. plus the lack of money thing is a big issue. i'd say we're no more an attractive proposition than we were when sparky came sadly. back then our squad wasnt anywhere near as good and we hadnt been doing too well, but financially we werent that far behind most of the league. now with foreign owners, a lot of managers are going to see blackburn as a no win situation - we're already as high as we can probably go and the only way is down. these are worrying times.
Alan75 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 Newcastle.......the managers grave yard. Heck even Sir Bobby got the bullet.
Dunnfc Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 HES STAYING! We can't lose the best thing this club has had in a long time, i mean hes better than anysigning hes made hes turned us into a great club and hes done wonders for us the is still work to do here but he hasent said that, im very fearful he will move on but i hope not.

I think we could get Jol. He managed a very similar club (Not a "big club" but a massively over acheiving one) in AZ Alkmaar and after being very badly treated at Spurs he could fancy it if JW said- "ou run this place exactly the way you want". The only problem is if he has no money availble it becomes extremely undesirable. How much compensation would we get for Hughes- 5m?
jim mk2 Posted January 13, 2008 Posted January 13, 2008 do you have any insight to why John Williams's has not said a word on the Newcastle speculation. Good question. In contrast to Pompey, the silence from the Rovers board is ominous. Perhaps they are happy for Hughes to go and have already lined up Sam to replace him.
