Alex Rover Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Go on then Sherlock! Is it Hockey/Rugger loving ex Saints Chairman, ex public Schoolboy Millionaire Rupert Lowe? If I had his brass I'd be floating around The Carribbean up to my eyes in hookers and gin not messing about on here! Calm down.....and of course it's not Rupert Lowe.
mike at picture Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Calm down.....and of course it's not Rupert Lowe. Fair nuff. Nicko did adress his nemesis as "Rupert" and at least one other poster has put forward the ex Saints supremo. He was a popular bloke down Hampshire way- "Swing Lowe, swing Rupert Lowe, swing him off the Itchen bridge"
nicko Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I don't know what is categorised as PR but DW gave an interview in the LT on 19 June. Surely as a freelance reporter you would publish the story if it would have no impact on the sale one way or the other but is of public interest? Whereas PR professionals suppress stories. 1...I mean PR from me. Was that so hard to work out for a man of your intelligence? 2...Are you now saying Andy Nield at the Lancashire Evening Telegraph is a Dan Williams PR man? We should be told. 3...As a freelance reporter - or any other - I do not break confidences. PR professional now, eh? You just get better.
nicko Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I know who the guy is courtesy of a fine source. Mind you he does look like a Rupert...
den Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I'm getting lost now. Who's name are we trying to guess - Guided Missile?
mike at picture Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I'm getting lost now. Who's name are we trying to guess - Guided Missile? Yeah him. Seemed to be the font of all knowledge re DW. Some on here claim to know who he is but aren't sharing!
nicko Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 Yes, Guided Missile. Thanks to a tip I know his name, address, phone number, past businesses, current 'enterprise,' liking for publicity and georgeous pouting picture. You may also find a clue which may give some idea about his agenda. I am guessing here, but I think he may have an issue with Dan Williams. I don't know if it's relevant. I don't care. He seems to have had his feathers ruffled somewhat anyway. But his secrets are safe with me. Which you would expect from a PR professional. Sorry, but I am tired of this.

He does doesn't he? I've also not been able to work why but it does seem personal. I'm with nicko on this and in him I trust.
Ste B Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I dont like saying this, and this isnt aimed at Nicko at all but given previous involvement from a lesser SubEditor - DO NOT EXPOSE GUIDED MISSILES IDENTITY on this site. There is a privacy policy for the site. We dont want to get sued.

Jan Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 I don't know what is categorised as PR but DW gave an interview in the LT on 19 June. There are any number of questions arising from that interview which have been left hanging. Damage, thenodrog, Bob Fleming, Paul, tris, Dave Birch, USA Blue, Seahawkdad, Revidge Blue are just some of the posters who come to mind. Lots of questions to which Dan Williams holds the answer- not Nicko. Quoting you again: "I have been told several things that I have kept OUT of the public domain. It would not help or hinder a buy-out in any way if that kind of thing came out." Surely as a freelance reporter you would publish the story if it would have no impact on the sale one way or the other but is of public interest? Define public interest. Remember the Garry Flitcroft "public interest" story? Where the paper was taken to court so it could publish the story then had to tell the readers who he was, who he played for, and describe where Blackburn was before no-one cared??? I suspect Nicko's saving it until there is another hook on which to hang it that would definitely put it in the public interest (ie the actual sale itself). If he sent it in and no-one reported it now (which given the level of public interest in Blackburn and the time of year it is they probably wouldn't), they'd probably hang onto it and use it later (having nicked the source) Whereas PR professionals suppress stories. That's true- they also publish false ones and set hares running. The things that Nicko has told us have, in the main, panned out. I'm not sure this takeover is in the best interests of the club, but I- along with ALL of you- don't know all of the facts. Anything that tells us more should be welcomed, not vilified. Nicko maybe thinks it's best for the club. That's his opinion. As he broke the initial story it would also do his credibility no harm if it went through. However I don't think there's anyone on here that's stupid enough to agree with something "'cos Nicko says". Actually scrub that- there probably are. However, the rest of us should be benefitting from the extra information. I know that after the Manure takeover, any American taking over would like to avoid the flak that greeted the Glazers, but do you think Dan Williams is honestly stupid enough to think that planting stories here would make Blackburn Supporters support him? Healthy scepticism is the order of the day. Pathetic muck-raking and baseless accusations lowers us to the level of the lowest of the paparazzi scum. Actually my personal opinion is that we should let him write whatever he wants on the "Rovers Sold topic" if it gets us nice juicy titbits on transfers.
-foreverrovers- Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 im of the opinion that i dont know anyone on here on a personal level. for that reason i will keep an open mind as too who is credible and who is not....NONE of us no any better. i would like to thank nicko for his input to this board during the summer.i dont usually write on message boards as i think some (not all) posters are idiots who are jumped up,and have a go at you if you mispell a word or write in caps, and i really cant be arsed with that!. i can see both sides of the argument on this one,but i must admit it is a shame nicko's gunna do one!....however the mass outpouring of emotion on show outside ewood park (in the wake of nicko's untimely departure from this board), this afternoon (see below) was a bit O.T.T dont you think?!!! http://www.brfcs.co.uk/jack/floral_pics/flowers3.jpg
RevidgeBlue Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I take it you've managed to work out who this is? I have and it doesn't take too much detective work to find out. I feel extremely thick because I haven't the first idea who "guided missile is" if it's not the esteemed former Chairman of Southampton Football Club. Could someone pm me?
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Your not the only one Rev, I'm lost on this one as well.

1864roverite Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 i can exclusively identify GM from he description provided by Nicko, its the pout bit that gives it away.... its....... wait for it........ None other than Billy the Fish...

neophox Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Nicko! Is there any news on Franny Jeffers going to Sheffield W? I do hope he leave us now!
nicko Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Nicko! Is there any news on Franny Jeffers going to Sheffield W? I do hope he leave us now! Absolutely correct, my friend. The deal should go on tomorrow. I won't ask how you know, just in case you are a Dan Williams plant or used to have any shares in ProActive...only joking. [With a bit of luck you won't even get that reference]. The silence is broken because there is yet another example of people actually knowing about the game and wanting answers. Cheers
Florida Rover Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Hopefully, wages won't be a stumbling block this time.i would guess we still hope to 700,000 pounds for him?

Nice to see you back on here as well nicko.
Mozzer Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 nicko are you coming back then??? all the support you have had you should come back, and stay...
nicko Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Hopefully, wages won't be a stumbling block this time.i would guess we still hope to 700,000 pounds for him? In that region. It could be adjusted to 'help' him to leave. But the main point is Jeffers needs to play, you hope he sees that logic. And anything Rovers get is more than they paid - he was a free.
