nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I also said that this constant interest may lead to a new contract. Great news for Rovers. If you are going to value a player at over £20 million you need to pay him accordingly. Good decision. End of chat. Man City were never going to get him, Spurs inquired but were never going to get him, Villa can talk big figures but were never going to get him. Funny that Man U are now totally stuffed. Berbatov or nothing. That will teach Fergie for watching him last week, trying to be smart...and then being outsmarted. Very amusing. No 11o'clocker then? Been very busy...but not Rovers-wise. I think you know the latest on Fowler, Andrews, Benni, Roque and Joaquin anyway. If anything changes I will let you know. If not I will give you an early shout on the Man City thing.

An all out attacking manure would be ripe for a Roqueing in front of the cameras
T4E Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I think the 'Joaquin stays' story that came out earlier looks pretty reliable. Must have missed this. Where is this story? So is this black and white - Joaquin game over?
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Must have missed this. Where is this story? So is this black and white - Joaquin game over? Couple of pages back...reports from Spain that he will stay...most likely outcome at the moment.

joey_big_nose Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Couple of pages back...reports from Spain that he will stay...most likely outcome at the moment. Yep, although the Valencia financial situation adn the fact that Joaquin wants a payrise could ressurect the deal. Just to clarify Nicko - when the price was quotedat 8m plus 2m add ons was that a "hit this and we will let you talk to him" or a "well we are not sure if we want to sell but this is the sort of price we were thinking about?". If it was the former there really has to be a chance we could land him if we decide he is the best option.
colbert Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Get the online papers early and see what you think. which one? mirror? and what about sunday? I'm guessing you wrote these? I'm not very quick on the up take on these things or very good at reading between the lines...............
RevidgeBlue Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 That will teach Fergie for watching him last week, trying to be smart...and then being outsmarted. Very amusing. Yep, good shout.
PAFELL Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I think the 'Joaquin stays' story that came out earlier looks pretty reliable. There is a very good Man City story going to break in the papers tomorrow. Is this good if your a city supporter or good if you are not and want to a good laugh? Hopefully a follow-up to it on Sunday. Might make one or two doubters realise how bad things are there...and what could be happening next. Get the online papers early and see what you think.

I'm not very quick on the up take on these things or very good at reading between the lines............... No, but I know what is coming out. I am working on the follow-up for Sunday...and I still am. But the Saturday morning papers will be very revealing.
brian_gallagher85 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I'm liking how you keep using the word papers...I just wish we could get the details asap

philipl Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 That is you will have to pay through the nose statement from Valencia, not a he's not for sale.
Presty On Tour Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Disappointing news about the Spaniard but is was a long shot. At least we are trying to bring in players of his caliber.
The Rover of Finland Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Disappointing news about the Spaniard but is was a long shot. At least we are trying to bring in players of his caliber. How long does it take when there´s first writing on Pennant linked to Rovers?
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 That is you will have to pay through the nose statement from Valencia, not a he's not for sale. I don't think there's a Rovers-type bargain deal to be done here. Unfortunately.
Torgeir Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I don't think there's a Rovers-type bargain deal to be done here. Unfortunately. Don't think we have time to do one of our trademark bargains before this window shuts. I fear nothing significant on the transfer front will happen until January.
ScottishRover Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I don't think there's a Rovers-type bargain deal to be done here. Unfortunately. Is there a chance of Blackburn meeting there valuation?
pksrover Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I don't think there's a Rovers-type bargain deal to be done here. Unfortunately. Well maybe its about time to spend some serious cash then, and not just go for the bargains.
Veevs Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Great news about Roque signing a new contract.. as for ManC I cant wait to read the news.. FIFA judgement on Elano deal, thaksin being refused asylum, Thaksins charged in his absense in case today (Land deal case was today), FA to deduct points due to Unfit persons rule, players to be sold to stay afloat, potential buyers running away after seeing accounts... Blimey the list of potential things is endless Shame about Joaquin well.. allowed some of us to dream for a while.. role on the 31st to put us out of our misery..
frosty Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Shame about Joaquin well.. allowed some of us to dream for a while.. role on the 31st to put us out of our misery.. We get until the 1st this year mate
Bobby G Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Is Pinto currently at Rovers on trial or not? Any reports?
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Is Pinto currently at Rovers on trial or not? Any reports? Arrived this morning. I believe there was a problem with him being unable to train until he had permission from his club...but that is sorted. West Ham are not very happy. Just get a good feeling about this guy, but not sure he is needed if Benni stays.
Majiball Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Just get a good feeling about this guy, but not sure he is needed if Benni stays. Would anyone notice if Benni did stay at the moment!!!
nicko Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 The Man City news in the papers is fascinating. Chairman Garry Cook has done a remarkable interview with most of the papers. Turns out the Premier League are all over City like a rash. To paraphrase: Shinawatra may stand down because of the trouble he is in and causing...Premier League have spoken to City...rival chairmen have complained...City are looking for partners...but Shinawatra wants to keep 50 per cent...club admits transfer cock-ups...ouch! Like I say, there may be a further installment on the drama on Sunday. This is THE story anywhere in football right now.
