Steve Moss Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Didnt we try getting Caciedo on loan previously? He's a big powerful young lad - not sure how he has done this season if he's been out on loan? Whittingham at Cardiff is nothing special - and cant see why we would go for him when Ledley is going for Free/ Tribunal price. Caicedo would be an excellent choice. He's 21, strong, skilled and used to the lone striker role. An ideal player by the new Sam standards. On the other hand, ManC allegedly paid around 5.2 million for him in 2008. Would they be willing to let him go for less? If not, would we be willing to meeting ManC's price? He's done well in his PL appearances (8 goals in 27 appearances, which means a full season should get him to 10-15) and I thought ManC was farming him out to get him some starter experience. Maybe a loan spell, though Sam seems to have gone off those (though Caicedo would be a better bet that Di Santo, considering his past performances). And I second Ledley. I think he would be an ideal MGP replacement and shouldn't cost too much, even with a tribunal.

Brfcrule1 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Nicko can you clear something up for me. With regards to the Dindane deal as you say they were after 2.5M which is a fee we could afford so am I right in assuming the hold up is with his wages because that is the only thing I can see delaying the deal?. Also I heard after Pompey made the cup final last time they paid players bonuses did that include Dindane?. Just out of curiosity how much were Pompey paying him & is that what has caused the hold up?. Is it true that now the player fancies a move to the champs lge Panathinaikos?. If true seems as tho he is only out for what he can get. Also had another idea for a target seeing as tho they are relegated wouldn't Chris Eagles be worth a punt could be good as he was sold to Burnley surely we could get him on board for a cheap enough price. I was speaking to a Man Utd fan today he says he is highly rated just that he could not break through at Utd & he reckons that Eagles is too good for the Championship I think would be worth a shout and would be quite cheap from the relegated Burnley.
andyroversmad Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Jo or Caciedo from City anyone?! I always thought caciedo looked a good player. would be very happy if we got him, he would work well in the system big Sam plays. As for Jo complete rubbish !
The Rover of Finland Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Caicedo is young version of Jason Roberts. He would be decent signing if the fee was right. But he isn´t the striker we are lookinf for at first.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Caicedo is young version of Jason Roberts. He would be decent signing if the fee was right. But he isn´t the striker we are lookinf for at first. Yeh, you're right he does renind me of Jason Roberts but he's a lot younger and a bit faster. A loan would be a good move.
Exiled_Rover Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Sidwell had a good season or two at Reading, chose to take the Chelsea cash and never play, moved to Villa and vanished. What's good about that? Ambrose? Are you sure? When did he make an impact at Premier League level? No point in Rovers bringing in tired old flops. Weren't Bentley and Santa Cruz tired old flops?
1864roverite Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Lets be totally serious including you Benny boy. Either Sidwell or Reo Coker would enhance our midfield by a 1000%. Both have speed, both can score goals, both can tackle, both can head the ball, both are ball winners and ball players and both can easily outdo our total midfield on their own. Just one of those 2 would be a significant improvement in our central midfield berth. Yes, they may cost £3m or so but believe me, both are WORTH it.
ada2020 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Weren't Bentley and Santa Cruz tired old flops? Bentley hardly fel into the tired old flop bracket.
American Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 2 words - Jason Roberts! He managed the same....MASSIVE step up to this level Isnt he the club penalty taker too? So they may dilute his stats abit?! Yeah, I bet Birmingham fans are glad they didn't buy 2 Championship players to anchor their defence this season. Oh, wait....

The Dindane fee is supposed to be around £2.7 million. This could go up or down but not by much. The hold-up with Rovers was because they wanted a 'star' signing first which is what Lewansowski was considered to be...on the basis that he is younger, more expensive and his that magical 'sell-on value' we keep hearing about. I don't see Burnley selling Eagles on the cheap to any of their sworn enemies...
Hi Mack Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Nigel Reo-Coker would be a fantastic signing for us......unfortunately i doubt we could afford him. Teams like Sunderland and Birmingham are ready to spend big this summer!
nicko Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Weren't Bentley and Santa Cruz tired old flops? Bentley was an untried reserve... Santa Cruz was worth a punt despite his injuries... Neither of them had been tried, tested and failed at Premier League level like Messrs Sidwell and Reo-Coker. Sidwell is 27, has started 23 Premier games for Villa in two seasons and just 7 for Chelsea in one. He has NO top-half pedigree which is where you are now. Reo-Coker is 26, has started 61 Premier games in the last three seasons for Villa. He could have been a good player but came up short. When Villa had knackered players last season they chose to ignore him. You can do better.

Steve Moss Posted May 12, 2010 Author Posted May 12, 2010 Either Sidwell or Reo Coker would enhance our midfield by a 1000%. I don't think anyone doubts their ability. It's their desire and motivation which is in question. Currently, we have a very well drilled team. The squad seems like they enjoy playing the game with one another. Sam has commented on the current spirit of the locker room as bringing back the best of his Bolton glory days. Do we really want to risk that with potentially lazy, malcontented or uninterested players? Unless Sam is 100% their heart is in it, we should avoid. Which goes double for Beattie and others mentioned here.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Is Reo-Coker better than Andrews and therefore improve our first team? I think the answer would be yes. I'd be happy if he came to Blackburn because he's a good player who was a key player for West Ham when he was there. Fair enough his move to Villa hasn't worked out how he would have liked but at 26 years old he can still improve under the right manager and in the right team. He's a combative athelete with bundles of energy and has shown at West Ham that he is also a leader on the pitch. If he didn't have a bust up with O'Neill then he probably would have played a lot more games in the Villa first team. Personally I think it's a great opportunity to get him whilst he's not in favour there.
brian_gallagher85 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 I don't see Burnley selling Eagles on the cheap to any of their sworn enemies... Exactly, I don't see them getting anything for him at all. He was easily their biggest flop this past season. That lad from Cardiff has a wicked left foot on him and 24 goals from midfield at any level is a hell of a return.

Isnt the fact a bust up at with the manager at Villa, preceeded by a bust up with the manager at West Ham enough to put people off? The guy squared up to O'Neill, no doubting his ability but his attitude is suspect to say the least. We shifted one bad character on in January, no need to purchase a direct replacement. Sidwell I'm undecided on, maybe he is crap, maybe on the other hand he could do a job. A Villa fan at work refered to him as a ball boy, maybe that speaks for itself.
Hughesy Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Yeah, I bet Birmingham fans are glad they didn't buy 2 Championship players to anchor their defence this season. Oh, wait.... Obviously thier are exceptions - but in general - a 25/ 26 year old will normally have made the step up if they are good enough by now. Nicko - any news on Caciedo moving anywhere?
Brfcrule1 Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Nicko any chance of an 11'0 clocker?. The Dindane fee is supposed to be around £2.7 million. This could go up or down but not by much. I don't see Burnley selling Eagles on the cheap to any of their sworn enemies... Nicko in view of the above because now that Lewandowski is off the radar surely Sam would still go for Dindane?. Surely he must realise if we don't move quick either Wolves,Bolton will snap him up?. Could you clear up is Sam likely to still go for Dindane or is that one dead now?. Surely because Burnley have gone down they probably need to sell and adjust the wage bracket is there no chance rovers could come in with a bid?.
John Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 Striker Aruna Dindane will snub Blackburn and Wolves, who have both bid £2.5million, and join Greek champions Panathinaikos after leading Portsmouth's attack in the FA Cup final on Saturday.
Backroom Tom Posted May 12, 2010 Backroom Posted May 12, 2010 Didn't dindane say he will do everything he can to stay in England?

Reo Coker has an attitude problem, another Benni, steer well clear, his mentality and attitude would create a poor dressing room, a good dressing room builds the team spirit, Beni caused friction and we dont want another
