92er
My first reaction was OMG. A real hero-I hope the site pays a real tribute to him. Before the Nuttall Street stand was re-built, he used to come back after half-time with a small meat pie for the lads!!
Manc Rover
I thought that too (official confirmation) but it's not the sort of thing you make a rumour of.
bluebruce
I hope that source is reliable. I actually hope they're not, as then it would be incorrect. If true, a terrible day for the club. My sincere condolences to his family and friends- the only solace I can offer is that he will live on forever in the club's memory.

thenodrog
It is true sadly. One of my earliest hero's. I understand Ronnie died suddenly. One of life's gentleman through and through. A credit to the club, a credit to England and a fine Captain of both. The timing of his passing away could not be more poignant as the old regime is replaced with a new one at the club. Mattyblue
Sad news, true Rovers man. A few weeks back a couple of videos of him and Dougie were posted, holding court in the Nuttall Street. Part of the very fabric of the club. Proper player, proper fan, proper fella. RIP

rovers1995
Living as close to the ground as I do, I always saw Ronnie out and around the ground. However, not seen him now for quite a while. Has he been ill? True Rovers Legend. Never had the opportunity to watch him play but RIP Rovers and England captain. Hopefully a minute silence before the game tomorrow. Lets sing his name loud and proud. Only 1 Ronnie Clayton, 1 Ronnie Clayton.
