redroses Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 How do you lose 4-0 to Wigan away (and get absolutely ripped apart) then go and beat Chelsea 2-0 away? its called a response. This usually happens with every team bar ours after a heavy defeat. Its been so long since we had one that we've all forgotten what one is.

roverandout Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 (Please don't use that word again) hopes, i have no hopes, here we go again, wheres braddock?
Kamy100 Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 We still need a miracle to stay up, tonight's result allows us to cling to the faint hope of staying up, to carry on clinging onto that hope we now need QPR not to beat Stoke and Rovers to beat Wigan. Still long odds.
Commondore Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Tottenham putting in four behind Bolton still leaves us with a theoretical chance of staying up, although this season has almost gotten bad enough for me to see that as a promise of more crushed hopes rather than a positive thing.
OJRovers Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Remember when we nearly signed this guy Stunning How come it already says 2-0 before he hits it? (could be a replay I guess, with the time over the top)
speeeeeeedie Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Remember when we nearly signed this guy Stunning I was listening to the Chelsea FM radio commentary (satellite radio in the USA generally has a game on), the co-commentator immediately started dismissing it as a fluke whislt the other bloke was singing high praise. I thought that the "expert" was trying his best to minimise it. I got home and saw it on the TV. It was no fluke.
Aberdeen Blue Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Remember when we nearly signed this guy Stunning Scuffed it
Torgeir Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Its the hope that kills you lol! I was back to being a fetus after Carroll killed us off, but as long as there is (newfound) hope I'll hold some - though surely it'll get shattered again. COYB!
Baz Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Scuffed it Pah, I've seen Keef hit back passes like that! :-)
Backroom DE. Posted May 2, 2012 Backroom Posted May 2, 2012 its called a response. This usually happens with every team bar ours after a heavy defeat. Its been so long since we had one that we've all forgotten what one is. Of course it was a response, but how did they play so badly against Wigan? It's not like it was a lucky 4-0, Wigan absolutely destroyed them.
Hughesy Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Just a bad day at the office....like Spurs v Norwich was for Spurs. Freak result was the Wigan one - Newcastle are starting to build a quality team!
Eddie Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 We still have a chance. IF we can somehow beat Wigan and get a point against Chelsea there is a decent chance that we will be staying up. If we can beat Wigan by a couple and only lose to Chelsea by a goal then there is also a slim chance that we stay up. I wouldn't be on us being in the league next season, but hopefully the players realise that if results go our way on Sunday and we then do the business on Monday that we will go into the final day with a good chance of saving ourselves.

We are still in desperate need of QPR and Bolton not winning emminently winnable looking games this Saturday and the results at the top end knocking Chelsea out of contention for 4th whilst keeping City in the title hunt on the last day. A not impossible but highly unlikely combination of results this weekend.
Miker Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I think what works for us is that our game is on Monday, so by then we will know exactly where we, and everyone else, stand and our future could be firmly in our hands. If either Bolton or QPR win then it's definitely game over.
Eddie Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 We are still in desperate need of QPR and Bolton not winning emminently winnable looking games this Saturday and the results at the top end knocking Chelsea out of contention for 4th whilst keeping City in the title hunt on the last day. A not impossible but highly unlikely combination of results this weekend. City's win on Monday means that they will be in the title hunt on the final day of the season. Chelsea are virtually out of the running for 4th place, so now only have the FA Cup and Champions League finals to focus on. There is a decent chance that they may rest players against us (although their numerous CL suspensions limits the need for that) or, in the very least, be slightly switched off. If we go into the final day level on points with both Bolton and QPR then I will begin to feel rather good. The big set of results will be this weekend. If QPR and Bolton fail to get anything from two decent fixtures then our fate is nearly back in our own hands. I've made myself look like a fool before, but I simply cannot see QPR getting anything from the final day and their goal difference could take a serious hit. Bolton could pick something up on the final day, but if we can at least go into that last match with some hope then we stand a decent chance. Having said all this, I felt exactly this same feeling after we got the win against Norwich and it was immediately destroyed by QPR's win against Spurs. I have this horrible feeling that at least one of QPR and Bolton will pick something up this weekend, quite possibly both. In my head I consider ourselves down, but at least there is still a glimmer of hope.
Mattyblue Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 There's no point even thiking about it until after Saturday's games.
Hughesy Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 There's no point even thiking about it until after Saturday's games. Sundays games. Still convinced its game over.

Baz Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 City 0-0 at Newcastle half time. Lots of yellow cards n first half and Howard Webb in charge, so can see this being decided by a dodgy red or penalty. Bolton lead Fat lady warming up Keith Andrews fouls Kevin Davies for penalty.
redroses Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Andrews involved in the foul that gives Bolton a penalty which ultimately sends us down. How ironic.
Hughesy Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 City basically win the league...Gutted! Bolton 1-0 up to a dodgy penalty...typical!
PAFELL Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 City basically win the league...Gutted! Bolton 1-0 up to a dodgy penalty...typical! 2 0 to bolton
G Somerset Rover Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Bolton 2-0. Still no chance we'll go down, absolutely none.
Audax Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 WBA's top scorer Odemwingie is not playing. Oh know, statement, Bolton gets another goal... 2-0. At least Stoke City has been holding QPR to a 0-0 score, 76th minute....
