CapeTownRover Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 i actually enjoy the crazy mother psycho managers like Di Canio, Poyet etc.. These softies like Kean and Berg are not what some of our players need, they need a real kick up the back side, and told who is boss.

Silencio Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 The tats look terrible. Especially on a manager...
Rover_Shaun Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Why was the sponsor photo taken at Moss Side Prison? And the expression on the crims face holding the shirt was not that of a rovers fan
bypass06 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 LIVE: Michael Appleton's first Blackburn Rovers press conference http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/blackburn_rovers/news/10168522.LIVE__Michael_Appleton_s_first_Blackburn_Rovers_press_conference/
Backroom Madon Posted January 17, 2013 Backroom Posted January 17, 2013 Ridiculous how this isn't on radio lancs
davulsukur Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 From SSN Michael Appleton is the new man in charge at Blackburn and he believes he will be given license to tinker with the squad he has inherited: MA: If I want to sign a player or let someone go then the owners have said that I can do that.Blackburn Roversvia twitter on Jan 17, 2013 at 2:17 PM
Torgeir Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I would have liked to see Bowyer left in charge and allowed to bring players in in Jan.Appleton is a gamble, simple as that. He doesnt have a successfull track record as he hasnt managed for that long. I would have prefered we had a proven manager reducing the gamble. He will have my support as he is now our manager but I will judge him on results - simple as that. If he gets us winning games I dont care what style of football we have etc Our last 4 games at least show we should be competitive even if there are obvious issues with the make up of our squad and 3 out and 3 in would balance the squad substantially. (at least one combative midfielder and a commanding central defender would certainly help). Its time our managers were judged on results. Sam - decent results - never should have gone. Baldie (wont say his name) - poor results in first season should have gone then. Black - mixed results but not completely convincing . Right to have not left him in charge Berg - poor results not good enough (I still respect him immensly though). Bowyer - best results since Sam - players responded to him - therefore should have stayed in charge. Appleton - lets see..... Even though Bowyer managed to scrape together a few good results it would still be a gamble to give him the job permanently given his inexperience. Appleton is a managerial prospect but I think a lot of fans were left underwhelmed at his appointment. I think the players, staff and especially the fans are in need of some stability now, and with long term thinking and real effort made by the owners results can improve. However, I doubt our owners will ever be right for Blackburn Rovers, or any football club for that matter, and as long as they're behind the scenes then it doesn't matter if it's Kean, Berg or Appleton in charge. The tats look terrible. Especially on a manager... Get with the program, he's the 'first' of many managers with tats.
Backroom Tom Posted January 17, 2013 Author Backroom Posted January 17, 2013 Greg Coar, eh?Would that be the son of Mr Invisible, Burnley Bob himself, the proud owner of an FA blazer? Nope no relation
cn174 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 MA "You only have to look at the squad that has been assembled, it sends a big message out as to what the owners ambitions are." Yes it does. That they have none.
Steve Kean's Hypnotoad Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Come on Hypnotoad, its part and parcel of the game today. Press conferences, interviews, etc etc.. in a normal world and at a normal club, he would have been unveiled after signing or at least the next day. Fans would deffinately like to get his views and vision for the club. Suppose its down to personal preference, I've never been too bothered what a manager has to say. How many countless times do you hear a rubbish manager talk a good game or a good one put his foot in it. To me the results of a manager in his last job matter far, far more than what he says at his opening press conference. Having said that I do agree that the delay is yet more evidence of the shambolic running of the club at present. David Brent, Basil Fawlty and George Bush would do a better job than Shagnew and Shabby.
vwcr Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Appleton reports to the owners... i can see trips to pune next on the cards... Steve Kean MK2
dwayne cage Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 May get criticised for saying this but I thought the interview with MA was pretty good
davulsukur Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Is there anyway of being able to listen to this later on?
dwayne cage Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Is there anyway of being able to listen to this later on? Rovers Player or I believe clips are on bbc Lancashire
CapeTownRover Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Damn, wish they wouldn't make stuff like this only available to subscribers on Rovers player
broadsword Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 MA "You only have to look at the squad that has been assembled, it sends a big message out as to what the owners ambitions are."Yes it does. That they have none. Oh deary me. I wasn't expecting him to say: "The squad's a mishmash of show-pony's, has-been's, never-will-be's, totally unbalanced, unfit, under-trained and reflective of this place being run like a circus." but come on, pull the other one! He's made himself look a right toadying prat with those comments. Doesn't sound like a good start at all, and another Steve Kean in the making perhaps. Wonder if Mr Singh was at the "presser"?

According to reports on twitter (from various journos) he wasn't and MA hasn't even spoken to Shebby. He reports directly to the owners and he has full control of the football side including signing and letting players go. It looks like Shebby is off the radar or is taking a back seat. I think after the last few weeks and recent radio interviews that is probably for the best. MA press conference
CapeTownRover Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Or Shebby has been sent back to Malaysia, and returned as a hockey pundit. Did Shagnew win the battle of the idiots?
Ozz Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 "After having a conversation with the owners they made it very clear that they have a burning desire and ambition to get back up to the Premier League as quickly as they possibly could,” WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP-IF THIS IS THE CASE THEN WHY DID THEY TAKE EVERY POSSIBLE DECISION THEY COULD THAT WOULD ENSURE WE WOULD BE RELEGATED IN THE FIRST PLACE YOU DOZY B@@@@@@@

I think after the last few weeks and recent radio interviews that is probably for the best. MA press conference Hopefully that will prove to be the best thing about this appointment no more shabby. Jury still out on this fella for me obviously need to give him a fair go but after 8 seconds of that clip of "The owners are very very ambitious" I found myself rolling my eyes and thinking here we go again. Or perhaps I need to buy a new dictionary because mine says ambitious-adjective-having or showing a strong desire and determination to succeed. Certainly can't be applied to venkys.
BuckyRover Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Signing Murphy, Best, Gomes, Rhodes and Etuhu is ambitious. Appointing Berg, Kean and Appleton not so much
Backroom Tom Posted January 17, 2013 Author Backroom Posted January 17, 2013 No problem with him saying whatever he wants as long as he gets results
Mercer Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Have only heard bits from this shortish link but thought he spoke well and sensibly. http://audioboo.fm/boos/1160560-audio-new-blackburn-manager-michael-appleton-on-becoming-rovers-boss-bbclancashire He aint going to say the squad is a load of crap when he needs to get the best out of whatever he's got !
