Proudtobeblue&white Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 We are run by amateurs, from the idiots who bought us, down to the people in charge at Board level. Trousering the blood money. Apart from the lovely staff on the ground the club is still a mess.

Athlete Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 That Judge from Brentford looks handy not handy enougth for our Gaz
blueboy3333 Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 That Judge from Brentford looks handy but slagged off on here as one of Gaz's 'academy lads' and league 1 rubbish by many people, possibly even you. Anyway we got £500k for someone who wanted to leave and cost nowt.
blueboy3333 Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 But he was rubbish here... How many times did you see him play? Judge was slagged off as soon as he signed, slagged off during his odd brief appearance, and then slagged off as League 1 garbage when we sent him to Brentford on loan. Now he's a good 'un It's a familiar pattern on here...
Jacobalph Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Are you seriously saying that the opinions of this board contribute to the form of a player in the squad?
Bucksrover Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Must admit I didn't think much of Judge's performances for us. Looks like he may have come good if we had given him a run of games. Trouble we had is I think Conway and Marshall are better players, now Brentford play 3 attack minded midfielders but bowyer has always liked 2 defensive midfielders and 2 up top, which means we are slow to get forward and haven't got the players in advanced positions who can press so we invite pressure. This brilliant tactic meant judge got frozen out, Brentford's more daring, positive style has meant they made the playoffs, and we want to re-sign lee williamson for more of the same 6 at the back negative football.
Jacobalph Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Lame duck manager will just be looking to keep the job now.
Stuart Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Judge could return now and he'd turn back into the player he was. Rovers midfielders are asked to play in a certain way, which does not suit attack-minded players. Dunn was a breath of fresh air last week - probably ignoring instructions is why he hardly played. Caution at all costs.

Now he's a good 'un It's a familiar pattern on here... But he clearly is a good un which we couldn't utilise.I must admit when he signed I knew he had talent but wasn't sure if he could do it above league one and along with Marrow (ewww) seemed an easy signing for the manager, when he played here he wasn't brilliant but took good set pieces but just seemed a little too keen to impress and tried too much. He has shown though that with the right manager and set up he's a very good player at this level although like Cairney I'm not sure he would fit into our set up rightly or wrongly. Either way I'm glad he's doing well down there.

That can involve changing or tweaking the players role or position. I saw James Tarkowski for Brentford again last night and he looks a terrific prospect. I watched him play for Oldham at Preston last season and said at the time that is the type of player we should be signing.

Lame duck manager will just be looking to keep the job now. What has this got to do with Transfers or the discussion taking place?
Kamy100 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 People need to realise that Warburton does not sign any players at Brentford, he is little or no involvement in the process. This all done by Brentford owner Matthew Benham and his scouting team, he employs the same model at the Danish club (FC Midtjylland) that he owns. Here is an excellent article on how Matthew Benham operates: http://www.atthematch.com/site/article/388

Let Bowyer spot the players and Warburton motivate and mould them into a team.
Parsonblue Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Sounds perfect for us. Let Bowyer spot the players and Warburton motivate and mould them into a team. I thought that was why Warburton was leaving Brentford - he wants to sign the players himself which the owner won't allow.

blueboy3333 Posted May 9, 2015 Author Posted May 9, 2015 Read a great book recently, The Nowhere Men by Michael Calvin. It's a book on scouts and academy coaches and the vital role they play in football. Warburton gets quite a few mentions. I didn't realise he'd come up with NextGen and created David Beckhams academy. He also set up Watford's academy, which according to the book is 'groundbreaking' in that it married 'sporting and academic excellence' and invested as much time in the education of the young players as in their football coaching. Before he became manager at Brentford he oversaw their scouting network, and found players for Rosler to sign. He's a lot more than just a manager and seems an incredibly bright bloke and progressive thinker. He uses stats but doesn't subscribe to the Moneyball approach in the same way as Bentham. Like he says in the book, stats are great but they don't tell you how quickly a player thinks or if he makes the right decisions at the right time on the pitch. Warburton would love the facilities at Brockhall and i think he's be perfect for us. Plays great football, gets results and has a wealth of experience and knowledge of academy football. I thought that was why Warburton was leaving Brentford - he wants to sign the players himself which the owner won't allow. Exactly right.
islander200 Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 up until January Warburton has had final say on transfers but is now leaving as from this window onwards he wouldn't have any say.But up until now Warburton has been heavily involved in signing players,he was sporting director when rosler was in charge
Stuart Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 I thought that was why Warburton was leaving Brentford - he wants to sign the players himself which the owner won't allow.Warburton decided to leave? Who told you that?It seems to be getting more commonplace for clubs to buy players. Blame Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill. The ability of managers to provide tactical nouse, motivation and man-management is coming more to the fore.
tomphil Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 Get him in. He sounds the perfect fit for us under these lot. The very type they supposedly wanted from the off and should fit into what we're trying to do here. It's a no brainer. Would he toe the line though ?
thenodrog Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 But he was rubbish here... No he wasn't. He was played in the wrong position and in the wrong role. He's not quick enough to play on the wing, not physical enough to play in the middle of a 4-4-2 either. His position is in the hole in a 4-5-1 where his trickery, invention and strong shot can be better utilised. GB played him on the wing too often because back then we had Rochina, Dunny and Cairney all competeing to play in the hole. Rochina and Cairney too have all been stuck on the wing way too often as GB continually attempts to accommodate the populist belief by playing two out and out strikers..... It's why we let so many goals in.

Judge is better suited to the system he plays at Brentford where he can play in any of the 3 positions behind the striker in the 4-2-3-1 formation. Not sure 4-4-2 is why we let too many goals in, I think Brentford conceded more than us this season and Boro have the best defence in the league and play 4-4-2. Playing Killa and Baptiste at CB all season would have improved our goals against column.
