windymiller7 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Keep hearing mention of this yedlin, but if we can only pay £10,000 a week wages, how are we supposed to get in someone like him? The same way that all loan deals work, especially when loaning from a Prem team or trying to get rid of Leon Best - The loan club agrees to pay a percentage of his wages with the parent club picking up the rest of the tab. In terms of the youngsters at Utd, Chelsea etc, it's a win win situation. They're not paying some kid (or even established player) £20k a week to mess about in the reserves , instead they pay £10k a week (or whatever the agreement) and their player gets to go and play first team football elsewhere, gaining valuable experience. From the point of view of the loan club, they're getting a player they couldn't normally afford for a fraction of the cost.

Al Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 So you disagree then, fair enough. As I see it, football at this level is about high energy, high tempo and pressing opponents when out of possession. There is no room for tap dancers or part timers in the midfield or anywhere else. Everything that I hate about football. Athletes, the bigger the better, chasing the ball and lumping it forward into the penalty area, "putting in a shift". Yukk. If it was all like that I could go and watch at Pleasington. No room for skill. You are diametrically opposed to attractive football and anything I like to watch. Big Sam would love you.
jim mk2 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 I can confidently say I've never seen big, fit athletes playing football at Pleasington. A load of unfit players hung over from too much booze the night before certainly, but never athletes.

rhodie Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Does anyone know what the club has spent this last season. How much of a loss have we made etc. Seems that is what will decide what is going to happen in this transfer window.
bluebruce Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Ok Jim, so watch the athletics instead? I like football personally. I'm a realist and know it isn't all tippy tappy (I'm a centre half myself), but a central midfield with no skill at all (like ours without Cairney, Dunn or a decent replacement for at least one of them) is doomed.

Then you have hated watching Sean dyche's promotion winning Burnley side because that what they were all about.

roversfan99 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 When did Tunnicliffe become the answer to anything? Utter crap.
thenodrog Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Keep hearing mention of this yedlin, but if we can only pay £10,000 a week wages, how are we supposed to get in someone like him? We aren't. People keep fancifully mentioning players that they have heard of who by definition play in the top divisions. Out of our league guys I'm afraid. Best option we have is to poach the best players from the 1st Div. Their wage expectations will be more in line with our requirements. imo we need to follow Sam Allardyce's favoured method for clubs with no brass of having 8/9 specialist players, namely GK's, CH's, CM's and CF's and filling a numerically small squad up with decent utility players who can play more than one position. After that play a 4-5-1 formation and cultivate a dogged siege mentality in the squad.

Amo Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 When did Tunnicliffe become the answer to anything? Utter crap. He made a forward pass once. That elevates him to Pirlo-like status in this team.
Damien Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Haha. I would pay Leon Best up and get rid of him. Does anyone not think maybe we could play Best... It's in his best interest to play well to secure another deal that would earn him the kind of money he is currently on... If he doesn't play well... No one will pay him what he thinks he is worth! What do you think?
Al Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Then you have hated watching Sean dyche's promotion winning Burnley side because that what they were all about. Tell me news. I've always hated watching Burnley. Did them a world of good in the Premier League didn't it?
JayPeeBee40 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Tell me news. I've always hated watching Burnley. Did them a world of good in the Premier League didn't it? I say let's get there first before worrying about that..!
jim mk2 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Tell me news. I've always hated watching Burnley. Did them a world of good in the Premier League didn't it? Well, they're multimillion pounds better off than us as result of being in the PL, they are in line for multimillion pound parachute payments for the next 3 years and they still have a good manager in place, all of which means they are in far better position than us to go up next year.
JayPeeBee40 Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 He made a forward pass once. That elevates him to Pirlo-like status in this team. Ironic you should mention pirlo, a player that's game is all about keeping possession involving many sideways and backwards passes..!

What do you think? If Rhodes and/or Rudy are sold this summer and we're still embargo'ed, then f**k it.... why not? What's the alternative? Brownie? I think Best has probably burnt his bridges for good, though, and lord only knows what clauses he has written into his contract.
Bucksrover Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 When did Tunnicliffe become the answer to anything? Utter crap. Did well when I saw him. Better than our other central midfielders
donnermeat Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 What honestly makes you think that Bowyer would ever even consider Nyambe as a back-up? The last time Bowyer played a 17 year old was Mahoney's cameo vs City. Since then the only youngster he's only played is Lenihan as a true last resort. That was after playing a left back and a centre midfielder in centre half at other points in the season. As for right back, you're kidding yourself if you think Nyambe will be ahead of Marshy and Lowey in the pecking order. I don't think Nyambe is quite ready for league football just yet anyway. Granted I only saw him play in two games last season, but that's my view. The lad has potential, sure, but he is only 17 and I think this season maybe a little too soon for run of games, even if it is just filling in for a few (Mind you with Henley's injury record it could be any number of games).
Jim Royle Posted June 23, 2015 Posted June 23, 2015 Highlights will be in short supply next season. Eck! You'll have even less info from which to form your expert opinion of every match, player and ball boy! Obviously that won't stop you sharing with us all, your expertise
