Looks like Lambert to Rovers is almost done according to @reluctantnicko https://t.co/JcsWbvqHW1

Lambert has been told he can sign the players he wants. Hopefully a right back, striker and pacey winger.

Would be really pleased if we get Lambert as manager. Great coup for the club and one I didnt think we could attract to the club.

Venkys are doing something right for once. So well done to them on this.

Completely agree Chris. Lambert and Irvine have the experience and pedigree to excite us all and have us dreaming again!

But wait...they sack Gaz (no leaks to media), with a new, well thought out management team waiting in the wings and a strategy to come out of the embargo in order to push for promotion ASAP...all executed in a week!!!?

Could the resemble EXCELLENT ownership? Almost Walker/Williams precision?

I just wonder how many Rovers fans will actually enjoy not being able to blame Venkys for everything in the world that is wrong...

Time will tell.

Chaddy, we are still under an embargo. If it's not lifted and we appoint Lambert on broken promises well, dread to think.

Venkys might want to splash the cash, it's not their decision though.

Perhaps Venky's have been influenced by the fact that QPR were not severely punished for challenging and not complying with FFP?

I hope Alan Nixon is right and would be very happy with this appointment.

Only one thing remains for Venky's to do - get rid of Shaw and hire a competent and 'real' MD.

We all love Rovers. This could unite the fanbase again and we could forget about the owners looming first and foremost in every discussion and simply enjoy what we hope will be better and winning football.

No, it's meant to be thought provoking and playful. This is a discussion thread right? A place to express opinions? Ask questions?

Unless, as has been mentioned on here somewhere, the Venksters have found a way to exit FFP in the near future and have also found a way to spend some decent money on improving the team without it meaning we go back under an embargo.

If Lambert is taking the job on this basis then you'd hope he'd/his lawyers have done their own due diligence on how feasible the above is.

I can see where you are coming from Mani

We ve all spent nigh on 3 years plus doing nothing but moaning. Even to the point were we re so used to moaning we dont even realise we are ! :D

It could take some time for some of us to actually change our outlook and some may never change.

The sooner a new manager is in place and the games come thick and fast the better.

Time to get behind the team again ..

I would hold off on the open top bus until the embargo is actually lifted.

Their grand plan might be to sell Rhodes for £11 million and not £12 million. We are back to putting faith in cretins that have done nothing but let us down, i am excited about the new manager but i am very wary of what cunning plan the cretins have up their sleeve.

That's probably why there's been a delay

Well hopefully once out of the embargo with the rule changes over just how much you can lose in a financial year (13M for one year or a maximum of 39M over three years) there should be scope to buy "decent" players at Championship prices.

We are back to putting faith in cretins that have done nothing but let us down,

Back? We've never left this scenario....hence they persisted with another failing manager for too long

Paul Wheelocks had a "eureka moment"

"The managers are out there for Blackburn Rovers – now Venky's have to pick the right one"

Why has nobody else realised that?

Paul you are a woolyback genius

Could be. I suppose it depends what the wage bill is these days. Or if there are ways Venky's can put money into the club to cover losses without impacting on FFP rules. Maybe sponsor the mascot to the tune of £10m a year :)

Their grand plan probably consists of saying to Lambert do you have any strikers in mind we might be able to get if we sell Rhodes and come out of the embargo. Yes maybe the reply so they say right fook it we'll let him go, you can spend it all and sod the embargo

Sports reporter Ian Abrahams says his sources tell him that Rovers will confirm Lambert and Irvine today.

No idea how credible that is, as I've never heard of him, but he does seem genuine.

Edit: Sorry, just realised Pete1981 already posted this.
