matt83
Excellent idea. Get the LET to photograph it being done, it would make for a shameful storey regarding the Venky run club. I'm sure a few nationals would pick it up too. Think I'd rather just have it fixed to an acceptable standard and have a fitting tribute to those who died than turn it into a hoopla. But it is indicative of the low low standards under the Venkys. Ps. Does anyone have an email address for anyone at the club who is based in the uk? Ie someone who has a modicum of authority and can solve these basic issues. All I could find on official website is a comment section in the contact us bit which I've used but as that was what my mate used can't see owt happening. Still someone at the club will get a piece of my mind.

J*B
Works for me ABBEY. And seemingly Gav who has just made a generous donation to send it over 1k. We now only need £150 to have raised the target over a weekend. RE what happens after, I think the agreed route is to immediate stop the crowdfunding at the target so it can't go over. It's done this way so there is no additional money, everyone can see what's needed and what has been raised. Completely transparent that way. I haven't seen Rovers Remembers but it doesn't surprise me the club have let it go. Chestons email is somewhere on BRFCS, I'm sure someone can DM it. Regardless, I doubt they'll sort it. I'd definately be behind another crowd fund to raise what's needed, if someone could get a quote?

Absolutely scandalous that the club have let it get in such a condition and then done nothing about it when it has been pointed out.

Reedy You're A Star
What happens to any surplus money raised? The reason being I've just been sent this: "Before the burton game (Aug 20th) I noticed the rovers remembers World War 1 memorial remembering those from the local area who sacrificed their lives was missing the "o" from rovers and the "m" from remembers so it reads "rvers reember...". So I thought I'd give the club the benefit of the doubt and if it wasn't fixed by the following week home game vs Fulham (Aug 27th) I'd would send them an email and call them telling them to fix it. I had no response naturally. Not been back since and as of today October 9th still NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE." I don't notice much round Ewood these days as boycotting. But as it's on the side of the jack walker stand at the Darwen end side forgetting the terrible impression that gives away fans who see it. It's as disrespectful as I can believe not to maintain something of such importance and significance. I didn't think it possible my opinion of the club could be any lower. Well they've managed it. So if there's any money left over shall we just purchase an "o" and an "m" in same font, find a bloke who owns a drill and fix it ourselves? The club and its employees may have no standards but that's not to say we shouldn't. Pathetic from rovers again. I shall call the club Monday myself. I'm mad as can be about this. As a side note what are our various fan groups who communicate with the club doing? The action group. Ewood blues. Fans forum even dabble in pie temperatures. Surely someone has brought it up. Especially if it happens around Armistice Day, which is fast approaching. Would be a great bit of publicity for the fans and shame the club a little more. matt83
Especially if it happens around Armistice Day, which is fast approaching. Would be a great bit of publicity for the fans and shame the club a little more. Well if it takes the threat of the fans shaming the club into paying a local tradesman £100 or so to fix it after a few months of being made aware of it then so be it. The fact its come to this and something that should have been done without prompting beggars belief. I'm not sure but think our kid bought one of those bricks behind the blues bar for our grandad. I dread to think what state that's in, probably covered in chewing gum and dog dirt if their maintenance of the ww1 memorial is anything to go by. I'm next in the Ewood vicinity for the wolves game so if see some nutter on his hands and knees with a bucket of water and a tub of ajax cleaning some bricks while the protests going on it could well be me showing those bricks the respect the lazy bums at rovers should have done. Touch wood are are at least in good shape.
Backroom Mike E Posted October 9, 2016 Backroom Share Posted October 9, 2016 Better to leave it alone and shame them on the dayear itself by publicising their neglect?
had.e.nuff
I took a friend (who is not a rovers fan)to the Burnley game the other Friday and walking up he commented on the missing letters and said he could not believe that the club would let it get into such a state, i pointed out that its just the norm now for the club and everything is being down graded. mhead
We need to photograph the Memorial and publicise the neglect! Do not do anything apart from find someone who could fix it.....its Venkys property! My "underwriting" of the Gable-End seems to have worked. MCMC1875....the money will be needed for another "Project" We have not even started going to the big donors, well done guys.
Gav
Tucker is a F__ker on the Darwen End. Wasn't he an infamous copper of the 60's and 70's? He was indeed, tried to nick my dad for taking a hatchet to games, but it wasn't him, it was his mate Different times Jock, a bloody hatchet! MCMC1875
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/venkysout Full systems go on this one. The artist will need a few days on it, so let's try hit the target quick and get it done ASAP. The artist will be sending over some designs as to what he recommends will look good / be effective / be relevant. Once we've got the designs the confirmation of which we go for will happen via vote. Not entirely sure what happens if the target isn't hit. Will confirm and edit this later. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/venkysout Thanks to Andy for sorting it.
