Mowbray’s Future

The really tragicomic thing about the team Mowbray has created is that one of our best attackers (Mulgrew 10 goals) is also a very bad defender?

So not only do we need a new defence but we also need to replace nearly a quarter of our goals.

No we just play Mulgrew as part of the front three.

I used to say that when we had Lee Carsley we need rules like Amercian football where they have specialised kicking teams who come on just for kicking. With Carsley you would bring him when we got a penalty and then take him off again. We could do the same for Mulgrew.

Seriously Mulgrew scoring from corners is just rank bad defending from the opposition. When Mulgrew has absent how many penalities have been missed?

Dropping Mulgrew wont be missed as others think

He's scored 10 goals and his free kicks and corners are our most potent threats at the moment. Of course we'd miss them.

How many goals have we given away through his awful defending?

Watch the goals he has scored from corners. If the defender on the front post is doing his job properly he would clear it and we would say what a bloody bad corner that was.

Free Kicks I grant you we would miss though.

Nobody else is putting those corners in though. If they were that rank bad defending would be letting corners in from other players too. You're wrong if you think it's a coincidence that he keeps scoring from them.

On the wider point he should be dropped. He's a shit defender. My point is we have to replace his goals. He could well finish top scorer.

Ironically our relatively decent start to this season clearly overshadowed the fact that this squad is miles away from cutting it consistently in this division.

Mowbray says the right things and I want to give him a chance because he does have credit in the bank and I don’t think anyone could argue that this squad SHOULD be much higher than it is now, regardless of the manager.

I feel we should preserve stability if we can but my confidence is rapidly fading that this can be turned around.

Id certainly give him the next two home games but if we don’t get a result out of those, I think there may be little option. You can’t lose nearly two months worth of fixtures and expect to survive.

It’d be a real shame if it panned out that way and I have no confidence that Venky’s could recruit better, but something will have to change soon if this run continues.

We have scored of a number of corners that Reed puts in. Also missed a fair sitters off them as well.

Would you trust him with the cheque book in summer ?

Yes 100%.

I think Mowbray is a dull and uninspirational football man who got lucky last season.

We need hungry and innovative football folk in key positions at Rovers.

Mowbray is dull and uninspirational football man? I could listen to Mowbray all day talk about football and be inspirational by him.

If getting promoted is lucky.

We have hungry and innovative people throughout the club Mercer

Like others have touched on, we don’t have a style of play under Mowbray. That is the main sign of a poor manager.

As he appointed his own boss, he ain’t getting sacked, so our best hope is if he moved upstairs to a DoF type role and let someone else run the side. The worry with this is that the DoF’s main responsibility is recruitment, and we all know that Mowbray’s record in the transfer market is piss poor.

Mowbray keeps saying that he won't be afraid to give young players a chance but again it is another case Tony saying one thing and doing another. Again yesterday we went with no defenders on the bench. Given the impact and hunger that Travis brought to the team when given his chance (although he has been dragged down by the rest since) I'd like to see a few more youngsters with the hunger and determination to do well given a chance, as we are currently very stale, predictable and with too many players in a comfort zone.

Ad infinitum? At what point do you admit to yourself he's taken us as far as he can?

Thats your opinion. Not mine. And looking at both polls plenty more back him 100% so surely you should be asking each one of us who back Mowbray the question, not just myself. I explained my reasons more than a week and see no reasons to change it.

He's never getting sacked in a million years you're right. I'd wager he'd take us down again without getting potted.

Once again it comes back to the scum who own the club like it does every f4cking time. They're clueless and won't know who to listen to on who to replace Mowbray with so they'll do nothing and hope he can turn it around. The continuous Venky loop won't end until they leave.

I think we will see Maglorie in the starting 11 against Preston.

The Rotherham result not changing your mind is laughable. The football version of Brexit.

Not one bit. I went and for me its time the players step up and start doing their jobs properly. They are the ones on the pitch.

I don't know what makes you so sure of that Chaddy, considering he couldn't even make the bench yesterday. Also Williams will be back on Saturday and if Mowbray drops one of Rodwell or Mulgrew I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Williams come in.

Let's say it's the players who aren't good enough quality - I disagree given how well mediocre teams like Sheff Utd have done and the performances the first 3rd of the season - but would anyone trust TM to dramatically improve the team? The majority of his signings haven't really done that - last year only Dack, Smallwood and Downing, this year Reed and Rothwell. There's just as many clangers from Bereton to Whittingham and as many who haven't really stood out either way. If we're reliant on TM to improve the team to rescue us we are stuffed.

When players fail to perform it's the manager who carries the can. Always will be. Don't act like you don't know this.

Mowbray's goodwill can only go so far.

If getting promoted is lucky.  A pi$$ poor league and we were the best resourced club.  IMO, there were many games where we got out of jail and scraped it.

We have hungry and innovative people throughout the club Mercer  Where are they hiding?  IMV, our football is dire for most of the time - hoof, hoof and more hoof!

Another Mowbray poll on twitter where 6% want Mowbray out whilst 59% backed Mowbray 100%

Screenshot_20190303-083153_Twitter.jpg

Out of 10 people involved in discussing Rovers last night, 8 (80%) wanted him sacked and 2 (20%) said reassess at end of season.  Not one firm Mowbray person.
