What a night that was. Ewood shook with joy. Walking (or trying to) up Livesey Branch Rd. Everybody singing and dancing around us. Tumult of noise. Just wonderful.

It was amazing, although I do recall being ridiculously nervous for the final few minutes.

You did well! I was a wreck from start to finish. Such a shame we faltered towards the end and had to depend on Manu not winning.  Best memory of that game for me was Flower's save.

My 11th birthday and still one of my favourite days as a Rover.

I was looking through the list of names for Junior Rovers birthdays and two stood out (if they are who I think they are). One is a local radio presenter and the other played Premier League and international football.

It’s almost certainly *that* Anthony Pilkington based on Wikipedia birthday.

as for Mr B…I reckon it’s him too…good spot!

Isn't he a left back, or lwb ?

Can't see it with Ribeiro and Pickering here and Powell also. Unless they let Pickering go ?

He was a giant that night. And his career at Rovers ended too early for me. Some poor manager decision-making from Woy.

Him and Gordon Taylor were two of my earliest heroes!

my dad was team mates with gordon taylor when they were both in the reserves at bolton in the early 60`s,he was said he was a right big headed w*****r!!!,franny lee was also in and about the reserves due to his varying levels of fitness!!!! and they had a small lad called alan ball coming through the ranks, who they rather stupidly released, stating he was to small😁

Allegedly they had to chose between Taylor or Ball about who to sign.

The Ruel Fox effort?

I always think the Peter Beardsley save in the first half is the most underrated. Doesn't even make some of the highlights!

Ah yea that Rocket shot gets parried over

TBF when he was in charge of the PFA Taylor did come over as very self-important and arrogant. When you're 10 or 11 years old though you only think about players as players.

It's funny how your mind - and the situation at the time - plays tricks. I remember the run-in after the QPR game being a total disaster. In reality the only result prior to the Liverpool game that looks really bad was the home defeat to Citeh. The others (away draw at Leeds and away defeats to WH and Liverpool) are not that surprising over a 42 game season and, at any other time of the season, probably wouldn't have caused too much worry.

The Leeds draw was a shocker because we completely dominated the game from start to finish and had the clearest penalty denied you will ever see. We should have won 2-0 and we deserved to.

Things just didn't go our way in that run-in.
