Backroom DE. Posted January 7 Backroom Posted January 7 (edited) I overestimated the quality of the teams in the league more than anything, although in my defence I barely give the PL a passing glance these days. This Man Utd team, currently losing to Burnley, being 7th says it all. Edited January 7 by DE. Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted January 7 Posted January 7 Burnley 1-1 now. Thought there was a ridiculous VAR inspired penalty for Citeh in their game v Brighton. Doku took a swan dive over an outstretched leg and the ref (rightly imo) ignored it. Then VAR referred him to the screen and we know what happens next. Quote
RevidgeBlue Posted January 7 Posted January 7 (edited) Burnley 2-1 down now. Edit: Bugger, 2-2 as I typed! Edited January 7 by RevidgeBlue Quote
Backroom Tom Posted January 7 Backroom Posted January 7 Grealish got a second yellow for applauding the referee after getting a free kick, Everton fans seem annoyed but it’s bloody stupid from Grealish who then got in the ref’s face after. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted Wednesday at 23:45 Backroom Posted Wednesday at 23:45 A lot of Burnley fans seem very unhappy tonight that they wasted time and tried to play for the draw rather than go for the win. Parker still on the precipice it feels Quote

Lost their captain and goalkeeper as well Maybe we just have to (begrudgingly for some) accept that he might be a good coach - perhaps he can read a game better than he can play one! Would explain all the pointing 😉 Quote

First 30 minutes were pretty level. United then had a spell where they were rampant for 15 minutes before and then 15 minutes after half time. Loads of shots, clearances off the line etc.. Got themselves in front, immediately took Bruno Fernandes off for some bizarre reason and then it went pretty even again. But in the spell when Untied were on top they could have had 4 or 5. 1 Quote

Although Edwards seems to have got Wolves playing. They narrowly lost to Arsenal and Liverpool. Drew away at Man U and Everton. Everton have a £100m player in midfield (albeit on loan). Bournemouth's striker cost almost £40m. Brighton and Brentford sold forwards for £50m+ over the summer. Forest have 2 England calibre midfielders. Palace has Gueye and Wharton. Quote

Cherry Blue Posted Thursday at 22:03 Posted Thursday at 22:03 Not a Liverpool liker but that action by martinelli was disgraceful. Hope they do look at that again and punish him and Arsenal. 1 Quote
Vinjay Posted Thursday at 22:09 Posted Thursday at 22:09 Neville should be fired. Can't advocate violence (at least on live TV) what a bad impression to set for younger viewers. Quote

He said Martinelli trying to push the injured Bradley off the pitch was an absolute disgrace, which I completely agree with and he was surprised one of the Liverpool players hadn't chinned Martinelli (or similar) which I cant disagree with at all. Backroom Tom Posted Thursday at 23:02 Backroom Posted Thursday at 23:02 Martinelli thing was poor but I thought he deserved 2 yellows nothing too drastic. We see that happen quite often it just so happened this time the lad was actually injured and I think Martinelli has had a lapse in judgement and thought he was time wasting. Quote
M_B Posted Thursday at 23:26 Posted Thursday at 23:26 Was it last season Martinelli was off the pitch "injured" and Arteta urged him to roll back on to get the game stopped ? Just hope they don't win it, not a very likeable club. Quote
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Carrick in at the Red Rats. I can’t see him making much difference. Quote
speeeeeeedie Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago 2 hours ago, Mattyblue said: 'knows the club!' Part of me wants Carrick to do well. The fans will clamour for him to be appointed full time, the owners will fold and give it to him. Then next season they'll be crap again, restarting the cycle. Speaking of "knowing the club" Wayne Rooney is throwing his name out there asking for a job; ESPN: Rooney would coach at Man U. He also gave a shout out to Roy Keane. I say sign them both up. What could go wrong? Keane, who hasn't managed a team for years, and Rooney who lasted less than half a season at both Brum and Plymouth before being sacked are the perfect people to keep Man U mired in mediocrity. Quote
Backroom Tom Posted 1 hour ago Backroom Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Strong chance Semenyo wins the league for City, he’s a real menace His define goal is likely to be ruled out here for a nonsense VAR but just has the knack Edit I know it’s the cup but still the point stands Ridiculous use of VAR here desperate to rule out a goal to the point they are micro analysing it Edited 1 hour ago by Tom Quote
benhben Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) What the fuck is VAR doing here? Scrutinising over tiny pixels. Who makes these rules. Someone with no idea of the game or what the fans want. 5 mins and counting to decide an offside. Who in the game actually wants to see this. A man in an office zooming into a computer screen while everyone in the stadium sits waiting. Edited 1 hour ago by benhben Quote

Absolute bollocks isn’t it, utterly ridiculous that they’ve ruled that out but feel they took so long they just had to try and find reason to justify it Edited 1 hour ago by Tom Quote

He seems to want to be the centre of attention and when a player starts to take the headlines, somehow, I get the impression he tries to defuse them in favour of a collective approach. That said, there's no doubt that Haaland, De Bruyne and Foden have been exceptional as individuals at times. However, for example, I look at the Haaland in Germany who was full of attitude and a monstrous figure charging with the ball, is now all but a goal poacher. Foden was a title-charging wizard and then fizzled out to seeming like a lost kid. Then there's the defence that gets shifted around and the side now have no outstanding centre back, with Ruben Dias falling off form. To some extent, I think Wenger followed a similar path, where in his latter years seemed reluctant to allow his players to outshine him. Edited 46 minutes ago by riverholmes Quote
