Actually think Dolan would do ok in the Prem with Luton his only real issue is pass and move instead of trying to take anyone who is front of him on instead.

Maybe they'd drill that out of him but losing him for 1.5 mill is pretty grim imo and maybe hes known about this all along hence not signing. Broughton said it would be all wrapped up by Dec '23 but has said nothing since so more poor communication and promises there.

This is really shaping up to be fire sale.

McFadzean confirmed.

Proper random signing that, we need experience but 37 is risky. We have seen before how quickly legs go in football .

There aren't many 37 year olds playing effectively at this level.

Not convinced this will work out too well.

Looks a direct player, something we lack. By the sounds of the report it looks like he's not going anywhere but like @roversfan99 has said, why arn't we buying these players? The Warchest should be open!

The only thing missing from the statement the club put out last week was we were selling our top prospect to fund the club at least until summer

There is no warchest , the bean counters wanted Wharton sold so the club can pay it's bills at least until summer.

Jeez, this has been a lot to catch up on having not checked the thread since yesterday...

Having turned 37 yesterday it smarts to see all the comments about 37 being ancient 😂 although of course in football terms it's very much end-of-career territory. The frustrating thing about the McFadz deal is that it likely wouldn't be necessary if we'd been allowed to sign Batth on a free in the summer - Sunderland's previous player of the season and many years younger than McFadz. But anyway, it is what it is and I guess we'll see how he contributes over the next few months.

I know nothing about McGuire but the fee being suggested is decent money for a Championship level striker at a non-parachute payment club. Would be expected to hit the ground running and make an instant impact. Risky but we'll have to hope this striker signing is finally the one they get right. At some point by pure chance alone we have to get one right, don't we?

Surely any outgoing fees wouldn’t be in a lump sum either.

Would imagine it would be more like £6m spread over 3 years (if we are lucky)

Like you say though, maybe we aren't paying McGuires fee up front, although obviously it is a much smaller sum

That risk is heavily mitigated by only signing him until the end of the season though.

McFadzean till end of the season isn't the worst signing , it's a bonus himself and Hyam will be familiar with eachother

It does still show how badly the club is run and how shit our owners are that we can't spend a significant fee on a defender when we are bringing in a club record fee by selling our top prospect

The risk is that he plays, isn't up to it and we end up back at square one, with no experience in the back line, surely?

Low risk financially but we are in a relegation battle.

There's a lot in here so I may have missed it, but we're accepting 1.5 mill for Dolan?? I've seen that Luton are interested but that's all.

Sounds high end to me.

I guess we will know soon enough.

Just to avoid confusion, talking about the Wheaton deal now . £18m  -  £6m per year for the next 3 years.

Not saying we will end up paying £6m for McGuire 😃
