Yep.

I was scratching my head trying to remember who Matt Kilgallon was I must admit.

I knew he played for us, but was stunned to see it was for three seasons. I thought he'd just been here for one, two at most.

Including a player in Greer whose only contribution to our history is being a part of the team that got relegated to League 1 is frankly taking the piss. Shameful to even ask him to line up in a "legends" team. I can only assume they had to really scrape the barrel to fill the slots. Honestly I'm shocked Rudy didn't include himself in the team.

I've captained winning sides at CB in 2 x 'in the Community' games at Ewood in recent years.

I think on that basis alone, I had more of a shout of playing in that game than Gordon Greer ever did.

Thinking back - there was probably a much better line up for Tony Parkes' testimonial.

Didn't King Kenny, Shearer and Garner play?

Rover the Dog would have been a better shout than Greer. The bloke only ever played in 4 matches that we actually won. Legendarily shit.

Indeed, although back then we had a lot more recent legends to call upon. Who has been a real 'legend' at the club in the last 15 years? Nelsen, Samba and Dunn would probably be the only ones who'd come close to making that list for me. I don't consider any player from the Venky era a legend, although I appreciate we've had a few cult hero types like Rhodes and Dack.

We've basically run cloggers out there for 15 years - not many legends left that can still play.

Ruben Rochina would have been worth the admission fee on his own imo.

I know not everyone agrees.

Greer had two spells with Rovers some 10 years apart!

Huh, you're right, I had no idea he was on the books in the early 00s. With that said, he apparently only played in one league cup game, so... technically his only notable contribution to our history is still being part of the relegation side of 16/17.

Even with the barrel scraped Myles Anderson still didn’t get a game.

His dad will be livid.

Don't worry. They are both here in spirit. Just look at Gestede's transfer dealings!

I always thought Kilgalon was a sound enough defender but legend he ain't and there was definitely a hint of Gestede turning out his mates in that game.

For balance though i suppose they wanted a few in from more recent times for the younger audience who can't remember past the last decade.

Not a lot of positives to getting older, but the fact I can remember a time with players of a slightly higher pedigree than Matt Kilgallon and Gordon Greer is one of them.
