Is someone able to explain how we can command Β£700k for a 13-year old, but have to beg England’s U-19s captain to sign a deal to include a release clause nowhere close to his actual value to avoid a totally miserly tribunal fee?Β

Apparently Β£700,000 for the 13 year oldΒ

I had no idea you could be paid that sort of money for a 13 year old... Is this a world record fee for a 13 year old or seen before??

Cant be good for a kids mental health to have that sort of money attached to you so so young.

Have no doubt that Wrexham will be fine in the championship this season, just unsure they will be as high flying as some seem to think.Β

Β

I guess with Wrexham they do have quite good "death spiral" potential... Such is the focus and media frenzy on them that if they struggle could turn very toxic very quickly.

I expect them to be fine, but if they do get a run of bad results it could be interesting.

A quick Google suggests its currently Finley Burn, whi moved from Southend to City for Β£250k as the most expensive as it stands.

Am I the only one who actually wouldn’t give Travis anymore money than he is already on?

Yeah ok he runs around, so does Mo Farah! We have Tronstad who is better at breaking up play there’s no need for two defensive sitting midfielders. Travis doesn’t score, doesn’t assist & gets booked constantlyΒ

My opinion sell to the highest bidderΒ

Travis has just had a brilliant season... One of the best mids at this level. Also he isnt really a sitting midfielder, hes got a lot better since Tronstad came in to play deeper and Travis became more box to box.Β

A club could sign him and pay much less under the EPPP compensation scheme.

This sets a fixed fee based on time spent at (and the category of) an academy.

His fee under this would be around Β£40,000-Β£60,000 (not sure how part years count).

Why a club would pay far more than they have to for himΒ πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

To get him without interference from other clubs. They can afford to take the risk.

Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying the fella doesn’t work hard on the pitch but I just can’t see what he offers in terms of warranting a big pay rise if that’s what he is after. He played well in a really poor Championship in terms of standard last season.

Being box to box as you say means contributing at the top end of the pitch Rovers are hugely lacking in creativity and Travis’s attacking stats are woeful.Β

If we are looking at this Kleersmacker bloke to be fair he had more goals, assists and far less bookings so more readily available for selection. Could actually be a good replacement on paperΒ

I just don’t get how that stops interference.Β

Club A bids Β£700,000 whilst club B is only willing to pay the compensation fee.

He talks to both clubs (as is his right) and if he chooses B they justΒ Β pay the compensation figure.

A ludicrous suggestion IMO.

Travis is probably our most important player. He has been here for ages, knows the club inside out, runs the dressing room, club captain, can be relied upon to keep fit and play 40+ games every season and rarely needs to come off in games. His importance cannot be underestimated and it is no coincidence that our success in the first half of last season coincided with Eustace maximising him and making him central to what he was doing.Β

Also no coincidence that he's one of the few players we have left capable of attracting cash interest from rival (ambitious) clubs.Β

Also no coindence that he's been earmarked for departure by the rancid regime who are desperate to extract more cash from saleable assets and chop the wage bill down further.

And in the real world, he goes to club A.

Why?

Money, human nature has always been the same. The lad himself may have no interest in the money, but the people advising him will have.

So club B offers him a higher salary than club A, what then?Β
Β

If club A is willing to pay 700,000, against club B who are only willing to pay a minimum fee. Do you honestly think club A would be out-bid on wages ? Anyway this is hypothetical, lets just see where he goes.

All this A.B.C stuff sounds like previous Rovers transfer windows in the office, before they order their curry to celebrate missing all their prime targets !

Head coach - I need players off my list A !!

Waggot - Think again son but we might get you one or two off my list B ?

Suhail - You two bicker all you like, here's list C they are the only ones we can afford.
