Managed decline course to 10k pwk and under firmly set into the radar whilst obscure relegated overseas teams are scoured for the new (5k a week) Travis, Tronstad, Brittain etc etc.

It’s Brittain signs it will debunk the 10k rumour but there is no doubt penny pinching is in play across the club at the moment

No surprise here at all, and it's a shame the coalition has gone so quiet as there is so much ammunition from this transfer window already.

Pathetic not to even offer deals and yet peddle line in media that we're trying, just say we can't or won't pay them, stop pretending otherwise.

Not really we've no idea how much he's already on he came from relegated Barnsley and realistically he isn't going to be here much longer even if he does sign.

They can't just slash the wage bill overnight it'll be a short/medium term plan where every one out is replaced by a much lower paid 'project' to increase in value and sell. The aim will be to have an entire squad like that, no more Batths etc but it will take a few windows to achieve it.

No rush right now with transfer income still dripping in but beyond next summer i expect the need will be a vastly reduced wage bill so they are doing the groundwork now.

I stand to be corrected but i'd be very surprised if so but you never know with these lot however imo the Indian finance man and Suhail are running the whole show now.

Agree with a lot of that I just don’t think there’s a 10k cap at present (just a personal opinion) could well be next season I just don’t see it as a blanket decision now

brittain is on 10k already if he negotiating new terms it won’t be for the same so again if he signs id say it’s fair to assume no blanket 10k cap if not then obviously there’s something in place

either way financially from the outside looking in we are being handcuffed

Read the LT and key bits to me are:

Tronstad:  'There are no direct negotiations yet over the terms of any new deal. It's not a back-and-forth dialogue over numbers, length or structure of the contract yet'  Staggeringly bad.

Travis:  'It's understood that numbers have been discussed but a written offer hasn't been made to be accepted or rejected, at this stage.  He is not pushing to leave the club but any renewal has to be right for all parties, with Travis one of Blackburn's top earners already'.  My view, Rovers know what Travis wants and wont play ball - any renewal has to be right for all parties, pitch rolling for departure, 'the player wanted too much'!

Brittain:  'Though there's been no indication that negotiations have stalled but, equally, there's been no official announcement that he has signed up'.  Think Brittain and agent looking to see what's out there.

IMO, all in all, totally unacceptable and unprofessional.

It's not about it being "right for both parties", they don't want these players at the club, period.

My understanding of the 'rumour' is no incoming's on over 10k per week but at the end of the day it's just rumour however all signs point to them wanting bigger earners gone.

Estimates are just that, for instance Brittain was estimated to be on 3/4k pwk at Barnsley so i'm not sure he jumped straight to ten 10pwk here IF we are believing estimates. Personally i'd expect him to be on 7/8k pwk on his current deal but probably wants north of 10 on his next one.  We also need to consider a lot of contracts at Rovers are heavily bonus orientated so he very well could raking in over 10 already due to that.

As you say though the handcuffs are being put firmly on the wrists moving forwards but we still have the likes of Cantwell on estimated 20-30 grand a week, Hyam etc who'll be on double figures so it's an odd mumbo jumbo of a payroll anyway.

There cannot be any doubt though we have lost, missed out on and will continue to lose good players because of a reluctance to pay the going rate.

A performance level last season similar to Brittain, Travis, Tronstad etc then I think he would be well down the road by now!
