Does anyone have a view on whether Ismael is signed up to this transfer strategy? I can't see how he can be much of a fan of letting probably six of our best players go (Dolan, Brittain, Bath, Wieman, Tronstad and Travis) and replacing with unproven imports.

He doesn't look like a guy who will take it lying down to me. And he has a record of walking away from jobs.... Him not being around by Christmas seems possible to me.

It's the main issue, has been since he signed.

His interview after the Stanley game suggested to me that he's on board. Most Interesting part for me was that he was putting the contract problems down to past mistakes.

I do quite like him, I'm just hoping that he was a Gestede signing,it would at least have a chance of working.Β

That might depend on your definition of working.

Sounds a bit underwhelming. When targetting players from weaker foreign leagues you want them to be stand out or close to.

De Neve didnt seem to be, surprising journalists with his move. Tavares was in and out at his mid table team and Alebiosu was surplus to requirements, although did admittedly have a productive loan spell in Scotland. It seems the motive to go abroad is purely to reduce costs.

Seems like it is only an enquiry at this stage, and to be fair its not like you have said he is a bad player, just not stand out or that you are sure he could do it at this level. How is he for pace and what is he like in the air?

I think I might have sounded too negative. He is an aggressive central defender who wants to win the ball back quickly. Can be overly aggressive and get pulled out of position. He is decent in the air. I would say he is faster than Hyam but slower than Carter.Β  I'm not saying that I think he would be a bad signing, I'm just not sure if he is good enough for what we need (a regular starter to replace Batth). He is quite young for a central defender though, and could improve in the future.Β

Yep the fishing in the relegated Belgium teams is another step down from recruiting the likes of Quashi and Tronstad so the chances of them hitting the ground running are less.

It's not always about what abilities they posses as most players have some sort of qualities it's more about how quickly they can adapt. The right attitude, desire and mindset and that takes a bit more scouting time and research than pouring over stats in less demanding leagues.

Fingers crossed.

Yeh it's happened before and it will happen again. Let's be hopeful. There has to be some reason why we signed them both.Β

I think he's here until his contract expires - we saved him from the scrap heap.

I also think he's desperate to get more athleticism in the squad, so that's the type of player he's asked them to target. Whether they've got anything more than athleticism is another matter.

Of course they were past mistakes but they’ve also been the same mistakes for years. Almost like it doesn’t matter who’s in charge of football operations.Β

It's not a mistake when it's done deliberately.

This is exactly it. Mistakes like pressing the save button instead of send, or missing deadlines by a few seconds, saves the club millions. We then find out that we are skint, yet we are expected to believe these were genuine mistakes.Β

I'm fairly new to this platform, using quote because I don't see a reply to specific post option.

V.i. is a football man he knows it's about business.

He'll be getting more changes than he would have chosen, risks are higher but rewards could be too.

I always feel Rovers lack pace, resilience, height and power. Batth at least gave height. Dolan and Weimann useful squad players,Β  Brittain a decent player. Expect V.I. to want a certain profile of replacement more than worry about who leaves.

LinksΒ  us with 3 players a day on average, even has Chaddy in a spin.

To be fair to the page, it's usually just quotes reports/journalists and recycles it....Which as we know is usually agent crap anyway.Β

I like his feed, at least it’s about transfers. Without it this thread would be just depressed rants (understandable) and inane conspiracy theories.Β

Dolan was more than a squad player, Brittain was more than decent and Batth was far more than just height.

Many of the teams who have impressed me over the last 6/7 years and have gone on to reach the play offs have had strong, fit, fast players in the main so hopefully this is the plan. As you say, we have to wait and see on the new incomings. What is clear is that we have not really had this type of player enough in recent seasons. I suppose we had Amari'i Bell.

If players similar to Amarii Bell are what we want, then seemingly we are building a team of crap.

Seems to be valued at E2m on Transfermarket.com.

Shouldn't be out of budget per se but if we start pissing about by lowballing the selling club like we seem to do with nearly everyone else of any value we'll probably get nowhere.

If? πŸ˜‰Β

Based on his time with us, yes. But then he went to Luton and played his part in them getting to the premier league, so....

Before stumbling into League 1 at which point their fans seemed delighted to let him move on.

Proven championship tricky winger with a burst of pace who gives 100% every game is available on a free, Tyrhys Dolan.. think we should look at getting him in, even if it's a trial! We're in need of wingers.Β

Seems Toth will be number 1 and I would think Pears will be p1ssed-off and toddle off to another club.

That would mean we would need a number 2 with fair experience and capability.Β  Don't think this lad fits the bill - mid 20's and only 30ish senior appearances in 6 years and nearly all whilst on loan in Sweden.
