Go research the top 10 fees paid by teams in the Prem in Jan 2024. Then look at the top 10 fees paid that summer. Premier League clubs spent just £96.2m on new signings during the January 2024 window - the lowest winter spending in three years, with the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) slashing clubs' spending power. In the summer practically every club bought at least 2 players for over £10mill. Some were buying multiple players over £20million. Premier League clubs splashed £2.08bn on new signings during the summer window - not quite hitting the record-breaking £2.44bn spent last year.  £96.2mill in Jan. £2.08bn in summer. Still think we wouldn’t have got much more?    Edited 2 hours ago by Hasta Quote

Imo he would have gone in the summer anywhere for between 22-25 million. I think his talent is worth more but I genuinely think its pie in the sky to think we would have been receiving bids of 30 million for him a few months after teams could have bought him for 18. Wrongly I agree but Archie Gray had a bigger reputation than Adam Wharton and again I know some think it means fuck all but Gray played all age groups for England was in the under 21s at 17 or 18 years of age and had been involved in a Leeds squad in the prem. Dibling was a bright spark for Southampton last season in the Premier league hence the ridiculous price tag If we had been in the Premier league and got relegated with Adam Wharton and he showed the quality he had done for us in the championship then we would have been getting massive bids  Quote

If there was zero doubts about him then bigger teams would have been in for him at the 18 million not waiting until the summer and paying 30 Also do many clubs make world class talents available for such little fees in january usually they add a premium ffs?.There was an opportunity there to get a top talent for peanuts really but nobody bit apart from Palace. chaddyrovers Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Its good that Travis's replacement has signed already and here. Looks hope he is ready after the international break. Loan to buy is sensible move given what we know about why he failed a medical a few weeks ago. On Travis leaving, its a shame he is going but most people thought he would go this summer. Don't get why Derby but its his choice. Eustace factor I guess. 10 hours ago, MarkBRFC said: Quite odd that Jackson/Nixon haven't thrown a name out there in a while to get folk talking. It is someone who has a 100% record in revealing news. For that, they must be right up the food chain. Whether its one of Gestede/Sufi/Owen or someone they are purposely feeding news to, I dont know. The account aside from revealing incomings has been happy to repeatedly imply that Brittain and Travis have been unprofessional, have defended the club on contracts and claimed they were offered ages ago despite all of those players saying publically that they hadnt, and has got into spats with fans who have not swallowed the bullshit, even calling Glen Mullan a "doom merchant." For someone so keen on strong communication, you surely not only can see that but recognise that its grossly unprofessional from the individual and the club to communicate like this from behind an anonymous twitter handle. I did expect Travis to leave but only because of our pathetic inability to sort contracts out. I also knew that these issues would totally overshadow everything else. Its depressing to see another key player leave and replaced this time by a guy relegated from the Swiss league, on loan, who is injured. 3 Quote

We were playing poorly , Wharton had his share of poor games also as you would expect at that age It's my opinion that clubs had doubts about wrongly so...why is a lad who is obviously so talented not being picked for the England underage teams all the way up.The coaches must have had a reason for not selecting him, even with big club bias plenty of players from other championship clubs were being involved I wasn't sharing their doubts and every big club would pay a fortune for him now but after letting him prove himself at another PREM club  Edited 2 hours ago by islander200 Quote

Also, international selections are often weighted towards bigger clubs. Surely more reasonable logic is to look at the direct circumstances. Where we desperate to sell? Yes. Was it in the summer when clubs spend far more, especially on players not necessarily to slot straight in? No. Brings the price down. Quote

Its his choice. I thought Brittain would be the one player to re-sign here and how wrong I was These players wont sign new deals here, not because of a relationship with Eustace. But because mainly of money, like anyone. Our inability to offer new deals promptly and offer sufficient new deals has led to us being unable to get anyone to sign in years. We dont offer competitive wages. That account clearly has an intention to make the club seem helpless and the players leaving to be unprofessional. Suggesting they had new deals offered ages ago when they said they hadnt, and repeatedly suggesting that they dont want to play for us. Unprofessional and tacky. Thankfully most have seen through it. But it sums up how dysfunctional we are. Quote

Looks what has happened with the senior players since. It’s not their close relationship with Eustace. It’s the lack of any relationships at Ewood. It isn't just that He was available for 18 million , it would not have been a secret and only Palace came in.I accept we would have got more but not 30 million and every time a young player makes a move its made out that its proof we would have got a similar fee for Wharton Like earlier this summer the defender real Madrid signed from Bournemouth was used a Spanish international after earning plaudits for a strong season at the top level Dibling after some decent performances in the prem and others they are different circumstances I'm obviously gutted Wharton left so soon and I said we would get a bit more money but not 30 million like some think because Spurs happened to pay that for Gray Whether I'm right or wrong it makes no difference anyway whether he was sold for a million or 100 million we know it wasn't going to go back into the team anyway so yeah be gutted about losing a talented home grown player a fan who was an exciting player to watch but I wouldn't be getting too upset over the fee if you think It could have been much higher.its been said a multiple time by gestede and Pasha it doesn't effect budget Quote
