I think anyone who uses the word "aligned" from now on should be fined £10.

Money to go to charity!

Well, it is a deliberately, sarcastic use of Gestede's word, which is heavy with the implication "my way or the highway"

A lot of people seem to be getting carried away , cos we won a game against poor opposition .

Let us see , how many more we win before the next window opens !

I will hold my hands up. I was not expecting the farewell message from Trav and it made me sad. He was my favorite player.

I think the contract situation is quite clear. He can earn more money elsewhere. He loved playing under Eustace who brought out the best in him.

understandable by both parties. Part of the game.

Trav's statement was "read with feeling"?

I, for one, am not particularly sorry to see Travis go, nor indeed almost the entire “leadership” group of players, none of whom struck me as leaders.

9 goals in 250 games is chronic for a central midfielder who allegedly has box-to-box tendencies - Super Atko got 34 in an almost identical number of games and at a higher level - and I tired of his pound shop Savage antics years ago.

The fact is that all these senior players effing off were part of one or more of our annual collapses, used to falling short. A bit like a couple of other posters, I’m intrigued to see a new style under a manager who is growing on me by the day.

Interesting who Trav did thank... and who he didn't. Curious that the club spent time creating that video if there genuinely was some bad blood at the end.

4 year contract might also factor in - even on same/similar money...

Alternatively it's going for proven Championship experience over gambling on cheap European punts to come good

He's spent a lot of money assembling that team.

Lots of those in this league.

Success would be a consistent season without long losing streaks, averaging a minimum of 1.3 points per game and new players cementing themselves at Championship level.

Whether it's 14th or 7th is pretty irrelevant.

Would that apply for the following season or the one after that?

Is there any point at which it would become relevant?

Who is poor after 3 games really?

hull at the time were unbeaten in their two games one being away at Coventry who have scored 12 in 2

can we not just enjoy a win anymore and try and find some hope going forward

Absolutely. Turns 28 in October. He is now guaranteed Championship wages until 32.

So 7th with a manager not backed in January, behind the scenes arguing and power battles.

Surely, now that we are all aligned we would expect at least the same or above.

Given the vast turnover in the squad replaced by players we have never really seen before I dont really have any expectations. I don't really know how any can to be honest.

If we do challenge for the playoffs it will have been some absolutely sensational work by the ever changing scouting team, thats for sure.

On the Travis deal I’m glad that’s it over I’m glad he got his message in too hopefully we can draw a line under it and move on

it will be months/years before we’re likely to find out what’s gone on behind the scenes but the deal is now done so that’s the end of that chapter for now

all the best to the lad will be missed his leadership was second to none and a big character and a great player to go to battle with

Hmm... I think Travis was really underrated, particularly since he came back from Ipswich. He was superb for us in spells.

That said we've lost bigger players for us like BBD or Szmodics and gone on to be fine. No player bigger than the club etc. Its possible Tavares or Baradji will put him in the shade. All we can do is see what happens.

Trav, Buckley and Leonard, all kicked off about her “Redundancy”. All three were then frozen out.

The new player liaison officer, is apparently a friend of Sufi’s although Im not 100% on that yet.

Beginning to sound pretty toxic.

What will we hear next? Certain employees make an official complaint about RG or SP...then get ..we..er.."moved on"?

Of course, we both are sensible and know that.
My point is
a) you should always look to improve but I think there is no intention of this - the intention is budget cuts and league table mediocrity will do. To be more blunt, those castigating leaving players and JE should wind their necks in and remember the league position last season.
b) your points will be held by many and of course provide a perfect excuse/cover for budget cuts and the hierarchy -ie if we do well then it's all on VI and RG, the plan was a masterstroke; if we are in the bottom third, well we are in transition, so many sqaud changes etc what can you expect?

I wonder if Eustace even considered going for other players rather than just picking them up from us.

I appreciate the ‘he knows them’ point but it just smacks of laziness to me.

I find the approach incredible limited. You are limiting yourself to average players without any potential upside  from average clubs. Probably paying a lot more than you need as well.  Derby will get exactly what's on the description, a mid-table finish. They will probably be happy with that considering last season.

Been vocal about this topic before, but a club adapting their philosophy and transfers to whichever manager they appoint are mostly doomed.

A well function club has a clear strategy philosophy on how they want to play, they appoint managers that fit their approach. Their scouting will be able to track and identity players of several years that fits their profile.

Brighton is a good example here. Here in Norway you have Bodo/Glimt who have gone from being a second division team to totally dominant. They've been wildly successful in Europe, reaching the semi-final in the Europe League last year, and yesterday qualifying for the Champions League group stages. Their players as individuals are average, very few would hack it in the Premier League. However they have an incredible performance culture, a well drilled team and some look like super stars in that system. When they get sold on, they usually falter and many end up back in Bodo.

No chance Rovers can replicate that with our owners and management, but at least there is some comfort in that there has been a clear strategy in the transfer approach, and replacements has been identified when players have moved on this summer.
