It doesn’t come across well and actually makes me cringe. As is airing your dirty laundry in public throwing players under the bus to deflect any stick coming your/the clubs way. They are ALL at fault which just goes to show how toxic and every man for himself it is behind the scenes there now. 3 Quote

What I am angry about is that we clearly wanted to keep our captain, but we can't/won't offer him the same wages as Derby fucking County. It's absolutely beyond the pale. 3 Quote
Backroom DE. I'd say that's well played, although a lot of transfers are happening towards the end of the window as usual. Our finishes over the last four seasons are 8th, 7th, 19th and 7th... so generally it's probably fair to say that 7th is about right for the players we had. That group made it obvious that they didn't have the mentality required to get over the line, but they were good enough to hover around it. If the ambition is playoffs then those core players weren't going to achieve it, so you could argue moving them on isn't an issue. It's just a question of whether bringing in players on lower wages with no Championship experience will improve the situation. It's all on Gestede, Owen and the recruitment team as to whether they've unearthed some hidden gems or downgraded the team. We will see. 3 Quote

But now i'm seeing a light in their madness finally, i think this season we will get into playoffs and if lucky we might even get to PL. i think gestede has accidentally signed some good players and they look hungry for success and fame. lets see I'm one of their biggest critics also and i haven't seen much to praise Gestede about, quite the opposite but you don't really sign good players by mistake. If they wanted to fill the squad full of shite they would do it would be quite easy and been done before. But your right the main driver is not promotion it is as they've always been trying to put in place, an entire squad who has real potential to increase in value so they can sell them all again. They are using the assets they have in order to do that because we know the Vs don't/can't put actual money in for players. So they are basically having a mass fire sale to fund a new direction and to do it they need half decent signings at least and the mass influx of transfer cash has allowed them to do that. Lets not forget the actual recruitment team in this below Gestede who probably do most of the hard work. 1 Quote

The total inability to come back from going behind. The total lack of ability to win midweek away matches. Always losing the big games. Always managing a win when it doesn’t matter anymore. These things tell me all I need to know. So a clear out was needed. Maybe it will work, maybe it won’t. But a least we are trying to do something different. Great post, sad to see some of the academy grads going but your points are bang on. Quote

pick32 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 🎣 the Lowe line got a few nibble but in all seriousness now have we had someone you would consider a legend since the Tugay, Dunn MGP era? Maybe Mulgrew, Dack, or Rhodes. For Mennonite has consistently been at the club performing at the top level to be considered. Dack would be if it wasn’t for injuries. Quote

This is an interesting point to me. All that talk from Gestede about increasing the minutes of homegrown players but we've turfed them all out, so I've no idea where they're planning on making the gap up. Quote

They could have tied him down for an extra 5-10k though 18 months ago, I'm sure of that. 3 Quote
LDRover Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) It's all reminiscent of your first bash on Championship Manager. Take over Rovers, get shut of a few high earners for a few quid, sign a few foreign unknowns for buttons to fill the squad - exciting times. Lose half of your friendlies, new signings average 5 or 6/10 every game, go 5 games without a win, flirt with the bottom 3 and then don't save and start again. Edited 2 hours ago by LDRover 1 Quote

superniko Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Dack is the only one for me really since the end of the Big Sam era. He played the biggest part in us not rotting away in league 1 and was a joy to watch at times as well. 3 Quote

If we will or have done is another matter. People seemingly don’t understand that giving one player a big wage rise generally means everyone wants one too. I also am one of the few seemingly who doesn’t want more money off the Rao’s, I can’t get my head round the majority position here which is “fuck off venkys / Spend more money Venkys”… to me they are contradictions. Only time will tell on the replacements, but I’m with you on this one - the results we’ve had with Dolan, Travis, Brittain etc never got us further than outside the playoffs. So why give them a pay rise? Edited 2 hours ago by JBiz 2 Quote

She really should go to the police if we held her hostage or against her will, maybe she was hard done by, maybe she’s bitter or maybe it’s in the shades of grey. The club is a mess behind the scenes we know that but it’s easy to take shots once you have stopped being paid. Judging by the insanely high turnover of non playing staff, the Club would seem to be a fairly toxic environment to work in. I think Id rather take her word for it as someone who's worked there rather than any of us on here who haven't. Think it was Glen who said employees aren't valued at the Club and there's little opportunity for pay rises or advancement. Similarly with Head Coaches and playing staff, Suhail doesn't seem to value in the least anyone who has done particularly well for us. The attitude isn't "We need to keep hold of this fella at all costs" it seems to be "We'll just get someone else in and we'll probably be able to get them to do it cheaper". 2 Quote
