We are a development club nothing more and Hyam came and improved as the seasons went on so now in typical fashion someone else will benefit from his peak years for a few million quid,

Not being prepared to give good centre defenders a good contract because they are in their 30's or pushing it just shows how clueless and out of touch the people running this club are.

You'd still recoup that Hyam fee for a good CD aged 31+.

Exactly !

the contract issue is not new

They faffed around with mcfadz he even left then eventually re signed but lost a summer of training

let Diaz go for free

let Dolan go for free

etc

they know they can’t keep losing assets so this way they recoup some ££ to keep the club afloat by using it to pay the bills not really reinvest

it’s a real shame

can understand why jdt and eustace walked in the way they did

Ok, thanks for clarifying that he's got a good injury and disciplinary record. I mean, I kind of knew that, that's why I said it, but regardless.

You keep saying "two 7th place finishes" as though it proves something about how good he is. Well even if it did, 7th isn't exactly far above mid table anyway, and want to know what his average finish in the championship is? 12th. Out of 24.

He's been available all summer for a modest fee on modest wages and he's gone to a club that will probably finish mid table. Sheff United have been pretty desperate for a CB all summer and I bet they didn't even consider him.

We could do with a decent enough CB who is always available. We had one, we seemingly couldn't afford to offer him the going rate of pay, so he's gone. It's bad business, but don't kid yourself into thinking he was great, even for this shit league.

Each league season is treated in isolation not average that point itself is irrelevant

Wrexham have broke all sorts of records in their spending and are buying good championship proven players

but let’s bite - Adam Wharton went to palace what does that say about him?

didn’t say he was ‘great’ but at this level he is very good a not sure why your underplaying his ability

Thing is the court case has been used as largely the reason this is happening now but way before it came to light we had the Lenihen, Nyambe, Rothwell saga's.

Perhaps we are paying in a way for that now i'm sure if the owners were aware of it they can't have been happy with that at all, then there was BBD and 7 million and 4 years of coaching and wages flushed down the bog.

Why is the shadowman still anywhere near the club ?

Is this his way of trying to pay them back and atone for his errors ?

If we listened back to some of Mowbray's hints in interviews towards the end of his reign they knew this was coming.

I maybe wrong, but I thought the new rules mean we must register our 25 man squad within 24 hours of window closing n cant add to it including free agents until window reopens unless we only register 24

That’s correct.

Yeah this is correct.

Looking at our squad though, the most I can see us registering is 23 and that includes Pears who might not be registered anyway.

Kocaelispor's record transfer spend is about £1.5m, way back in the year 2000... since then they've never spent over £700k on a player, but usually get them for way less or for free.

Just for an idea of the peanuts we're likely to get for Gueye.

Gueye would set some real records in the Turkish League.  Records in the sense that with his positional awareness he may be the first man to play a game of football in both Asia and Europe at the same time at Istanbul away

Gueye is nowhere near good enough but I would have waited until Jan. An injury to a striker and we're down to one option up top.

Unless we're in the market for a free striker. Bamford or Dennis would be an upgrade.

Gueye is a waste of space, always has been. Would be losing a really poor striker.

We could have done with a third striker but we have like at CB missed our chance there to get a reasonable option.

Dennis though, did people watch the same player as me? Rubbish.

Dennis has a higher ceiling, decent age so he only needs to put a few decent performances in and we'd make good profit on him next year.

He has the ability though...Personally think it would be a low risk signing...Wages will be an issue mind.

Looks like it's just a loan.

If we're getting rid of Gueye we must have a free transfer lined up. Dennis has a (big) point to prove here, and has worked under Ismael before, so I think that's the best we can hope for. He can play in different roles offensively as well.

I don't think so.

Just like how there's no plan in letting Hyam go, just shift Miller into that role.

I think the plan has always been two "senior" strikers and then Tyjon as third choice.

Losing Gueye is not a huge problem on the face of it, although of course Rovers letting him go when they're no longer able to bring someone else in other than potentially a free agent is just typical of the club these days.

Gueye doesn't have the brain for football at championship level. A couple of promising performances last season gave some hope that he could learn the ropes and kick on, but he just hasn't....obviously not helped by the change in head coach and the fact that Ismael clearly doesn't want him.

My question is who plays upfront if Ohashi and Gudjohnsen get injured? Tyjon??

Not registering Pears would feel like an act of self harm (who thought anyone would ever say that!).

The EFL say they’ll publish the squad lists within 7 days of a window closing so we don’t have long to wait to see who, and how many, we’ve registered.

Amazed at any Dennis suggestions. It's been almost four years - late 2021 - since he had that really good run of form for Watford in the PL. He's done nothing since and there's a reason he's without a club at 27.

He didn't look like he wanted to be here when we were (sort of) going for the play offs so god knows what he'd be like if we're going to be down the bottom as expected.

They aren't bothered about that.

Look at bundling Hyam out of the door on deadline day without a replacement, and letting a senior striker go outside of our transfer window as proof.

There is NO plan here it's just an agents feeding frenzy again if it ain't nailed down then move it on and get the commission then move something else in and get the.......

As for Dennis for the final time F### OFF i'd rather loan Harry Leonard back !
