ruggles1995 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago I dont see us signing any of these free transfers, I dont see the club offering more than 10k a week, think it may upset a few if they decided to sign a dawson or bamford to be on double more than anyone else. I imagine they are saving money thinking they can get through to january with 2 strikers. Seems the cost cutting continues, a bare bones squad, do they not realise that injuries and suspensions happen in a 46 game season. Guess there thought pricess is: Toth/Mikelski(young kid) alebiousu/taylor miller/carter wharton/mcloughin ribeiro/pickering           tron/forshaw/monty  tavares/balaji                    cantwell/henriksen hedges/miroshita                       de neve/kargbo                   yuki/gudjohnsen/iygor with the following able to play in various: miller taylor miroshita henriksen I mean the numbers of players are there, but the quality to rely upon is not.. iygor not ready, mikleski(young keeper) not ready, forshaw, de neve not looking good enough, and tavares has not started well, and gudjohnsen is a unknown. When you take those 6 out potentially not good enough that leaves you 19, and a few injuries to some of those or suspensions could leave you with like 15/16 on matchday, but not the best of quality all round. And with the injury record some of our lot have its probably going to be like 15 players maybe solid enough to compete available. I imagine pears will be tried to be offloaded to somewhere like turkey to. Cost cutting at its finest. I do get a hunch that the cb free transfer links are a bit of a smoke screen to try and calm things down a bit. Lets hope some of the newbies hit the ground running after the international break, not ideal that half of them are away on international duty, yuki and gudjohnsen come back both injured, who you picking up top... Quote

I think the plan has always been two "senior" strikers and then Tyjon as third choice. Yes totally agree with this. Ismael has a similar opinion on Gueye as Roversfan99, and given his performances since Ismael came in it's hard to blame him. Not done a single thing since February. Shame as for a period November to January he looked very promising. According to Transfermarkt we paid EUR 1.8M for him, and given where we are just letting him go for a loan seems another big financial loss again. We are really really poor at making our theoretical model (buy cheap, develop and make a profit) work. Only really managed it with a few big names (Szmodics, Wharton). Hyam, Brittain we have sold on what modest increments of money which we bought them for, easily wiped out by losses on players like Gueye, Markanday, Gallagher, Diaz Reading through this list season by season it's really depressing how we constantly lose our best players but Szmodics, Wharton and Armstrong apart we have really struggled to bring in decent fees. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/blackburn-rovers/alletransfers/verein/164 Edited 3 hours ago by joey_big_nose Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Said this earlier in the window but if we let Gueye go, especially on loan, without a replacement it can only be construed as an actual of self sabotage and a deliberate attempt to relegate us. Can't believe people are in the main taking the potential news so calmly. The Club will be the first to say how unlucky we are if either of our two strikers get injured though. We might as well have left ourselves with 2 CB's, it would have been no less suicidal. 3 1 Quote

davulsukur Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I don't rate Gueye that much but you'd think he'd have some uses as a "plan b" off the bench. Gudjohnsen best be up to it because otherwise we're in big trouble 3 Quote

KentExile Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago (edited) Not transfer related, but Kargbo played 85 mins in Sierra Leone's 1-1 draw with Guinea Bissau yesterday Miller played the second half for Australia in a 1-0 win vs New Zealand - he came on at half time - looks like as a wing back Gudjohnsen may play for Iceland vs Azerbaijan tonight Toth may play for Hungary v Ireland tomorrow Edited 1 hour ago by KentExile Quote
Lancaster Rover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Biggest shock in all of this is the realistation we paid 1.5 million for Gueye. In my head we'd got him for 500k or something 1 Quote

Dennis has a (big) point to prove here, and has worked under Ismael before, so I think that's the best we can hope for. He can play in different roles offensively as well. He's simply not an impact sub - he struggles to get up to the speed of the game. We looked our best when he was starting games and then Ohashi was coming on against tired legs on 60/70 minutes. Quote

Chuck in Dack and Diaz who should have been sold for vast profit also if it wasn't for injury and incompetence and a lesser extent Rothwell then the model was there for all to see. However you simply have to invest a decent chunk at first and pay them more than cheap imports. They won't even do that now and certainly won't pay them so that model is consigned to the bin despite overwhelming evidence it was the right way to go, they just never got it right like stable well run other clubs have.  2 Quote
DutchRover Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Much as it weakens us further, I understand the move for Gueye at least. He is now 3rd choice striker, its not a case like Hyam where we sold our starting CB with no depth at the position. I rate Gueye more than most on this board but it makes sense for both parties. Realistically, it is hard for a squad to carry more than two players for one position, especially someone like Gueye who was bought as a starter you'd think. I would have preferred we sold him during the window and brought in a versatile forward like Youan who can play striker or winger but clearly they want that "pathway" for Tyjon. aletheia Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Said a while ago that they probably think they can survive until January with centre back options they have and they will do the same up front. Maybe, just conjecture, they will keep up to 2.5m for January and spend then (if they really have to) -"hey look, be happy, the new regime/alignment spends money in Jan unlike the previous set up with SWAG." BankEnd Rover Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Too risky to lean on Tyjon. Yuki pulls his hamstring, out for 2 months. Gudjohnson blowing his arse out playing his 15th game straight with a kid as backup??? Madness if you ask me. Â 3 Quote

The one we had on loan last season ? He was beyond shite. A complete waste of money. And we want to do it again ? Crazy. 1 Quote
