With the exception of De Neve at 5'11" (still quite tall for a winger), all of our signings are at least 6'2", including Henriksson if he joins. I'm sure that's not a coincidence. Expecting a very physical style of play next season!

He was in Man City's Academy at age 10 (presumably due to their links with his dad), so suppose its a possibility

I believe this is the case, similar to Taveres who qualified for these reasons and didn't need a ESC spot.

Yeah I saw that he said he was experienced and " a few quid". He doesn't know why it hasn't progressed. I can tell you Alan, it's all in you're words.

Saw someone mention Dapo Afolayan, ex Bolton playing for St Pauli.

28 next month and one year left on his contract, wouldn't need a ESC spot either.

Can't see us spending "a few quid" in general on one signing, but certainly don't see it on a near 28 year old winger.

Someone like this seems much more likely to me, hardly played a professional game and on a long contract so could see a "loan to buy" deal or something.

Forson would make sense over someone like Afolayan too.

Forson only started one game all season for Monza last season.

The club want someone to come in as back up to Hedges and be a "20/30 minute" player on that side much like Kargbo is on the other.

He also isn't particularly quick I don't think, decent over the first 10 yards like ACD or Dolan but not a sprinter like Kargbo.

I'm guessing he would jump at that squad role, where as someone experienced would want to be a starter.

We genuinely can't have Hedges Mr 1 goal all season as a winger, start this season

I would bet my mortgage on who ever they sign for the RW spot will be coming in as back up to Hedges.

I would imagine that they have consulted an indipendent expert on the field, as well as listening to the experiences the player has had living (and playing) with the condition. We're recruiting from the bargain basement so there's bound to be an issue with every player we sign - not necessarily medically though.

He will probably being going out on loan this season, but Jake Batty also has a decent long throw, so may be an option in the future, no doubt he will be cheaper than either Pickering or Ribeiro when it comes to each of their contract renegotiations too. 

If he has a decent time on loan in League 1, then I can see him being our second choice left back in 26/27

Definitely. I'm really pleased with the physicality that Val seems to be bringing. I've felt we've been a bit soft for a few years now.

Miller described Val as "an intense guy who knows what he wants" in his interview on YouTube. I think he's trying to instil a tough no-nonsense attitude into the squad. He's also a bit of a big brick shithouse himself. Definitely wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of him.  Really warming to him after that shaky start.

That would be his "option" season too,

I can already see how this plays out, he will get into the side around February 2027, have a really good end to the season before we fail to agree new terms with him,

750k rising to 1.5 million- outstanding deal imo. Well worth a risk and is sadly the market we are in. When you look at how much English players are going for in league 1/2 we cannot afford to buy anyone 😞

As Iv stated before we don’t seem to have a long term plan particularly this off season. We haven’t/hadn’t a clue about the contract situation with our players which will in turn determine our next step so effectively at present it’s day on day week on week until the window closes or the contracts are sorted one way or another

So the plan is to not even bother trying to tie down our key, proven Championship players. But instead to replace by players abroad for six figure fees.

Suppose it is a plan of sorts.

Isnt it 5 signings. Tavares, McLoughlin, De Neve, Miller, Alebiosu.

That's exactly what it is and India isn't bothered as long as the hassle to them is limited to a couple of meetings per year and costs are kept to the bottom line.

The malaise we had under Bowyer and a lot of TM's tenure backs this up where doing just enough was enough but that isn't ambitious enough for young head coaches hence the problems once they see how the club works.

It's a complete gravy train though for a couple of directors and no doubt some advisers/agents.

When Broughton was appointed he spoke of the clubs plans and long term vision.

Spoke about how we can't let what happened with Nyambe,Lenihen and Rothwell happen again and we needed to be more proactive with contracts .

12 months after Broughton and JDTs arrival that went out the window and here we are now having let our most experienced and better players get into their final year of their contracts.

The only plan here is to spend as little as possible and hopefully put a squad together that won't get relegated

Apparently, we want to send Batty out on loan, no idea why we signed him back up in the first place.
