Pears is on more money than Toth, so they want to get him out of the club in the hope that Toth doesn't ask for parity now that he is first choice

Edit - Toth was originally brought in as competition/cover, whilst Pears signed his last contract when he was first choice when Kaminski was sold, and before the court case/most recent cuts/etc

I think something has happened over the Pears..rumours off a hair transplant gone wrong. Could be why we want rid now. He isnt even 3rd choice. Not warming up with Toth and Michalski yesterday

We don't know what they Baradji situation is. Ismael didn't say too much or whether he would even on surgery on the problem.

He didn't dismissed Browne he said he hasn't spoken to the player himself.

Gudjohnsen is here, having his medical. Possible at yesterday game but kept out of sight

You’ve just proven my point we don’t know his situation that’s alarming in itself there shouldn’t be a grey area a player is either fit or not fit

By saying that link isn’t true I haven’t spoken with the player is dismissing it

gudjohnsen isn’t over the line but we need another one along with a mf

I understand that new signings need time to bed in. I don't think this is lost on anyone.

The point is, there shouldn't be a need for this scale of the first team to be new signings who are untested at this level.

Our situation is a result of the contract strategy employed by the club.

At some point the fact that we sold our captain and replaced him either either a highly dubious prospect or a crocked player will dawn on people.

Correct.

callum who posted above would have a good point if the players who'd come in were all established Championship players with a proven track record at this level.

As it is the strategy of replacing tried and tested players with cheap foreign punts was always going to be at best an outrageous gamble and one likely to fail spectacularly.

Results could of course suddenly turn round and everything could gel nicely but Id say the likelihood is they won't.

As a few others have said also, one would have a little more confidence if the Head Coach had a better recent track record as well. We've let a guy who's never lasted more than about 50 games anywhere completely dismantle the squad.

36 ish hours left of the window, and so far out of the signings in, Morishita looks a positive buy & his hotel friend Baradji (if and when available) might be the only ones who would have got into last years team.

McLaughlin would have maybe been close.

Time or not to settle in, there are clear and obvious comparisons to the players they have replaced.  Tavares does not look like anything close to matching Travis, let alone an upgrade for example.

How can any professional football club sign a player and not understand or know the extent of the injury of that player? Something feels fishy on this one…. Wonder if the agent has any link to Kentaro?

Gudjohnsen will wait and see until we’ve seen him in a game (if we get it over the line) - but based on signing players from their stats theyre hardly inspiring and feel like there’s a touch of the Sam Gallaghers about what’s coming

It’s quite evident to see two conflicting opinions forming across the fanbase, totally normal I would say after a defeat. Ripping up an experienced squad and replacing it almost entirely with a huge lack of Championship experience is a major risk. Of the players that have been brought in, probably Alebiosu has been the most consistent. Tavares worries me, because not only does he look off the pace, he’s also never consistently played a full season. Even 24/25 he featured in 29 league games, but averaged 44 mins a game, so presumably lots of sub appearances there. Baradji, no one has a clue on his injury or when he’ll be available. De Neve looks to have been sidelined for now and I don’t really see where he fits.

Ryoyo looks like he’s got a bit, lovely touch and cross yesterday, so fingers crossed he comes in and makes an impression.

I think it’s either insanity or wilful ignorance to not be at least slightly concerned at this stage. Bemoaning bad luck, new players needing more time, feeling sorry for ourselves, blaming refs. 3 points from 12, and 1 win in 5 that’s what matters, and the league table is all that will matter in 9 months time.

With apologies to anyone eating their breakfast, I would expect we’ll start to see the following soundbites in the next week or so.

I’m content that we’ve rolled the dice this summer considering the contract situations.

When replacing Dolan, Travis, Brittain etc, presumably we faced either going for cheap, experienced championship players with very limited potential for improvement (Forshaw, Sanderson etc) or get creative and tap into foreign markets for unproven gems.

No issue with going for the latter approach but the overhaul has been extreme. If we come good this season, it’s likely to be later in the year and how quickly these players settle will dictate if we survive (or better).

I didn't actually expect it to be honest, been burned too many times in recent seasons (when are we getting a bottle of Mercers favourite red wine?), so I'm actually happy.

Hope hes as good as his Dad because he'd be worth a fortune in today's market.

This new striker had better know where the onion bag is, cos by heck we need someone who does.

I've said twice now but he's 1 in 6 in Belgium for a top tier.  Gueye was 1 in 3 for a mid table lot

1 in 3 too.  Maybe Gueye gets 30 for us this year too then.  That logic works

Another frustrating day yesterday, but all issues about the owners, Pasha, Gestede aside I do not see the need to panic like some on here are.

The new players will take time to get up to speed, even those who've had prior championship experience. For those of a certain vintage, who remembers the clogger that was Tim Sherwood when we first signed him?!

I've seen plenty of positives from most of the new players to be confident we'll have an ok season. Which considering the churn of players this summer is probably the best we can realistically hope for. We've been unlucky with some officiating but also been poor in key areas of the field when it counts (like yesterday; the ref did not contribute much to our defeat imo, as poor as he was on many occasions).

I'd also add that W Brom, Brum & Norwich are amongst most pundits picks for top 8 finishes. I'd be far more worried if we'd lost to Oxford, Portsmouth & Stoke - like we did last season incidentally, yet we still finished 7th!

We need more new players & new players need time. Let's give them a bit of slack to find their feet & some consistency as in all the games I've seen so far (Bradford aside), we've been there or thereabouts in each of them & but for some fine margins we could have 4 or 5 more points on the board & be having very different discussions.

Like I said, all this is ignoring the real problem, which as we all know is not going away any time soon.

Alebiosu has looked good too.
In reality we need to replace Brittain, Travis, Dolan and Batth - I don’t think any other departures would/should get in our squad let alone our first 11 (Beck the exception but we replaced him last year).

Question is whether Alebiosu, McLaughlin, Tavares, Baradji, Morishita are capable replacements for those 4 outgoings. A lot of that will depend on Baradji I guess, who we may not see for a while.

Nice to see we’re investing in a striker too, where we were clearly short last season and again so far this year.

Personally, it’s the manager I’m worried about. He has a pretty terrible record so far.

His hold up play looks impressive and the goals at international level suggest he has something.

Im actually really excited by this signing and with decent delivery we may finally have someone who can head some goals in!

For me it’s quite simple-you don’t overhaul a whole squad with the roll of the dice without tested Championship players being part of core changes. To say we are

going into the unknown is an understatement l-exiting maybe.

Theres excitement and there’s completely unknown! For me there’s too much sweeping changes and not just players

but club staff and that sets alarm bells. Those

that had any affiliation Rovers and could questions behind the scenes issues aren’t there. Who would now question

the hierarchy. Too many factors that aren’t being questioned for my liking but maybe im

in the minority!

Which proven championship players were available within #Rovers budget?
