Mattyblue Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Not sure how a simple list of fixtures on a website shows disrespect to Jota, but fair enough. 6 Quote

There was quite rightly lots of respect shown to Diogo Jota and his brother yesterday but this is far too extreme in my view. 2 Quote

All about being seen to show 'class' / 'respect' / 'one family' / '... at times like this'. Of course whenever anyone plays Liverpool next season they'll be back to Hillsborough and unemployment chants. I still remember the Saturday after the Queen snuffed it. Football shut down a la Covid whilst rugby league played a full card that weekend. A minute's silence beforehand was the only indication of a wider national event. Edited July 4 by GHR Sp. 2 Quote
Mattyblue Posted July 4 Posted July 4 (edited) Some massive splash of ‘look at all these games and they’re LIVVEEEE exclusively on Sky Sports’, no, maybe not appropriate. But a simple printed list on the EFLs website to help folk prepare travel etc (and keeping to their own stated obligations) doesn’t seem a particularly insensitive thing to do. Mattyblue Posted July 4 Posted July 4 But anyway. Just Hull away moved until the end of September (still Saturday 23rd August, but now 12.30pm). Got off lightly there… or Sky have no expectations of us doing much. 1 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted July 4 Posted July 4 It was right to show respect to tragic death of Jota. It was held back one day. Quote
Mattyblue Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Why would showing a list of fixtures on the EFL website have been disrespectful to Jota? 5 Quote
chaddyrovers Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Really Matty? Think about it. Think about the how he die and the tragic news yesterday. The whole of English football was in shocked but all that matters is Matty knowing what games are being moved over Jota's tragic death. Lack of self awareness here Quote

Lack of self awareness here I mean Portugal women played in the euros and all football clubs (including rovers - who didn’t even acknowledge the tragedy) continued posting on social media. But yeah don’t release a fixture list. 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted July 4 Posted July 4 No Matty really couldn’t have given a feck either way, I’m just asking for an explanation to why listing fixtures on a website is disrespectful. 1 Quote

chaddyrovers Posted July 4 Posted July 4 (edited) I don't follow Liverpool but I saw the tweet yesterday after it was reposted by another Rovers fan account Edited July 4 by chaddyrovers 1 Quote
Upside Down Posted July 5 Posted July 5 4 hours ago, chaddyrovers said: I don't follow Liverpool but I saw the tweet yesterday after it was reposted by another Rovers fan account Can you please explain how it would have been disrespectful to post a fixture list on a website? 1 Quote
Mattyblue Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Just his standard forelock tugging to authority. If the EFL had published them on their website he wouldn’t have said a thing about ‘disrespect’. Quote
