JHRover Posted Monday at 16:25 Posted Monday at 16:25 It really won't take much this year for a mid-table side to slide into serious relegation trouble. That includes us. Need to keep the points flowing and not have a barren run. As poor as Sheffield United have been there's no way with Wilder in charge that they are going to be near the bottom 3 come the business end of the season. I thought QPR and Swansea would struggle this season, both have been pretty solid in recent weeks. Oxford have just had two excellent results with a draw v Leicester and win at Bristol City. Quote

sharpysharps86 Posted Monday at 16:28 Posted Monday at 16:28 I do expect Sheff United to move out of trouble eventually, but they were significantly weakened in the summer and the replacements they've signed have been questionable. Having Hamer still is a bonus for them though. Agree on your point though. After the weekend results it appears to be largely wide open all over the place. Quote
philipl Posted Monday at 16:45 Posted Monday at 16:45 Hull 3 Southampton 1 and Bristol City 1 Oxford 3- both very well deserved results show what a treacherous league this is this season. Quote

The actual trophy goes to whoever wins a knockout competition based on those standings... Interestingly, the National League model turned into a farce last year as the 2nd/3rd placed teams had so long off between the end of the league and their play off fixture that they were both disposed by the teams who had played in the 4th v. 7th / 5th v. 6th play off who were more match ready. It makes the competition a bit of a joke though. Last season the team in 8th finished 22 points behind the team in 3rd, and 17 points ahead of the team in 22nd. The idea that it will lead to less dead rubbers is somewhat flawed in that it gives teams who are clearly going to finish between 3rd and 8th less reason to field full strength squads at the end of the season, particularly if they have little chance of getting automatics. A quote from Ridsdale about a swift conclusion to this whilst we are waiting for a decision he will be part of regarding our abandoned game on Saturday. “All I know is we've got the hearing towards the end of this month and then we'll, hopefully, find out quickly because the uncertainty is unhelpful. Yep, I live in York and watched the game against Oldham. York finished 2nd on 96 points, Oldham 5th on 73 points. Play off game: York 0 - 3 Oldham, and York were absolutely shocking in that game, Quote

RevidgeBlue Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Wrexham/Derby 1-1 with 10 mins to go Brereton just equalised for Derby. O Brien scored for Wrexham, thats his 3rd this season apparently. Wonder what would have happened if he'd joined us when he should have done? Quote

He's reached his peak now as a footballer and his peak is to be a consistent goalscorer at this level, I think it's bizarre that Saints didn't keep him there this season. Quote
