It says everything about how scattergun our approach was this summer that Alebiousu was given a 3 year deal whilst Henriksson was given a 4. They clearly had little idea themselves of how good these players would be.

Not that it will make much difference when we shunt him out the door in January.

They should be below us, but the difference between Carlton Morris finishing and Ohashi's wastefulness make all the difference.

And yet, when we played them at Ewood in our anniversary game, it became evident that they would beat us 99 out of 100 times.

Football is about the games you win and the points you accumulate, not about what could have been if not x, y, z. Unfortunately, we are left with a manager who creates an 'honest' list of excuses for any situation, and when he has gotten us relegated, he will still talk about that game against Ipswich...

If we are finally looking at League 1 players, we could do worse than look at Ballard from Orient, and Wooton at Stockport. Both having good seasons as strikers.

Ballard young with good So'ton academy pedigree, but only half a good season goals wise might make him cheap enough for us; ideally we'd get more experienced guy but I'd rather take a punt on him than a 20y/o Estonian kid from the Belgian third tier which is probably Gestede's plan. Orient nowhere near promotion too, so he is scoring playing for a poor team presumably; I like El Mizouni there too, the midfielder, and I would have taken Koroma on a free in the summer.

Wooton I saw a fair bit of when he was at Notts; big target man, and you'd think he can compete with physicality of Champ having worked his way up in National League. I make five consecutive good seasons now in terms of goals (2 in Nat, 2 in L2 and now L1), so worth a punt, though Stockport will want to keep him for their promotion chase, and tbh they are as likely to be in Championship as us next year.

I said last January we ought to be chasing top League 1 players, instead we dove into the overseas bargain bin and hoped for the best. Sam Smith, Ethan Erhahon and Thelo Aasgaard were all eminently attainable even for us and would have solved both our striker and midfield issues had we got them last Jan.

Even Kwame Poku would have been possible, though his injuries have become a worry and he doesn't play at QPR.

we missd out badly not persuing the  lad jade-jones from peterborough, though the bundesliga is a bit much for him he would have done ok in the championship, got pace to burn,as we are bereft of any ambition or seemingly scouting ability,we ended up with a mishmash of lower league eurotrash, who we also won`t be able to get rid of

If they sell Alebiosu, are we then allowed to consider a new right wing  back?  Or are we still pinning our hopes on an injured Litherland rising like Lazarus and playing out of position with no back up?

Can’t we try refashioning one of the numerous youth ‘keepers first?

Its probably already being considered

I actually though you were going to pull me up on my use of the word "if", rather than "when" 😉

On paper, Wooton looks like a bit of a waste of time. 29 years old, and last season he scored 11 league goals, 8 the season before. Ohashi type numbers but in League One and Two respectively. Suggests this season's flurry is the exception not the norm. A no from me unless he's an absolute boss at being a target man.

Ballard seems a much better shout, better numbers at a much younger age. But a short sample size and young, may not hit the ground like we need. If he was one of two strikers signed though, with the other having more proven goals pedigree, could be a good move. All of this being on paper, I've never seen either player.

Agree I felt we should go for Aasgaard at the time.

In fact, do we think Pasha will have the gumption to come out and say 'nobody knew if Ryan Alebiousu was any good' if he goes on to smash it for an Everton?

Good, available loan players are out there. Rovers have just seldom been ambitious* enough to go for them.

In 2021 Lincoln City had Brennan Johnson AND Morgan Rodgers on loan - contributing 17 goals and 7 assists. Half of the current Enlgand squad have been on loan to the Championship in their development.

2021 was ironically that was our ambitious year with Harvey Elliott, but we always seem to unearth the Rakeem Harper, Leighton Clarkson and Clinton Mola type loans vs the ones who consistently propell teams to greatness.

Tbf we had mixed success, excelled in centre backs for some reason

BBC Lancs today absolutely scathing of the manager and recruitment team.

Interesting that Andy Bayes said to the other 2 blokes "I'll have to turn my microphone off for this"

Didn't appear to get involved in the conversation, to me it appears like he can't say much against the people that run things.

Mental how this club is trying to silence various people.

Did I miss something that happened with Ryan Hildred a few weeks ago?

I remember seeing Shelvey on transfer deadline day turning up to sign, I think at Forest.

Ripped jeans, hoodie, slouching along with his hands in his pockets.Looked like it was killing him even  having to walk. I would have been In the  Mowbray camp on that one.

What a slob.

I feel like that Reece James story like many has really grown legs.

i`me sure mowbray said his general appearance and his london upbringing  meant he would`nt  fit in with the group, personally i think he was barking mad (mowbray) he would have been a standout player that season, our loss was wigans gain,im`e sure he would rather have signed for us than bloody wigan

I bet Sidnei Tavares is doing everything he possibly can to get back fit as quickly as possible for the second half of the season......... right?

Some signing.

Sack the lot.

It seems to be a rumour that has grown legs.

You wouldnt have expected him to sign Bradley Dack as a bit of an Essex party animal by that same token.

Reece James father spoke about it on a podcast he said that when Chelsea said he could go on loan his father wanted him to come here to work under Mowbray but they came up here for a meeting with him at the training ground and Mowbray didn't mention football once he asked James about the clothes he likes wearing and the music he is into. Going on to say he had had young players like him before who struggled as they missed the bright lights

.Said they walked out and looked at each other in disbelief ,thought he was stereotyping and decided to sign elsewhere
