I was amazed that both our goals.came.from set pieces.  The corner was a corner nothing special just a good cross into a good area and a good header with Miller having to fight off his marker.  The second was a lovely freekick, different and caught nobbers completely off guard with Ice man sneaking round the back un noticed and finishing with a nicely placed header.  If it was down to the new coach well done.  Poor Ihashi must be tired of getting battered every time he is challenged he never get the calls he should.  One in the 1st half not sure if it was Ohashi or hos counrry man but he oushed the balk past the defender and wiuld have been gone but he was clearly obstructed and with a two handed push.  To me it was a yellow cos he would have been off.  Ref was 5.yards.away.and did not even deem it worthy of a foul.  Same with BigMac he does not get the calls.  There was also Smith smacking Ohashi in the throat,.anither yellow or in the Prem likely a red and again nothing.  At least this game Yuki got out of it without a gash in his head.

A good summation.

PNE should have had at least 1 sent off. Their number 10 really should have gone late on for a studs up challenge on I can't remember who's calf.

Pears is still Pears. Toth being out is not good.

I think modern football is a bit more complicated nowadays than when you and I last played. Whether that’s a good thing or not is another story. Nobody signs a player on Friday and then throws them into the game on Saturday these days. It used to happen regularly in the old days. I remember Don Martin signing in those circumstances and looking completely lost in his first game.

I think it’s more to do with the fact that contracted players can only be signed in the transfer windows nowadays. Back in 1993, David Batty signed on October 26 and played on October 30. Colin Hendry, if I recall correctly made his debut on the day he signed.

A close friend was at the game last night as the referees coach and as such attends the security briefing before the game.

He told me the police had said they were really worried about a group of 40 Zwolle supporters who were over for the game and had a reputation for causing bother.

I wasn't aware of any trouble but we parked near the White Hart well away from the town centre.

Is anybody else aware of this?

I wasn't aware that they were there last night but I know they attended the Burnley game at Ewood last season.

The backstory, from what I hear is...a group of Zwolle ultras have formed a friendship with a group of Rovers fans who call themselves "Blackburn Youth". The latter have been over to Holland to watch Zwolle with their new Dutch pals and vice versa.

It seems like the Zwolle fans might be picking the Burnley and Preston games to attend as they expect things to 'get tasty'. It's not like that in reality though, which is obviously a good thing.

Below is footage from this linkup at Ewood last season, when the Zwolle fans were in the corner of the Riverside near the Darwen End. I can see why the police were wary last night:

Easier job for them, leave them to kick each other to death.

Seen a few Preston fans saying there was a mass brawl on Moor Park afterwards and moaning about the police diverting fans into each others paths.

The very same happened in the 70s, Mounted police charging into us

Now this is right.

It seems you can see into the future 😁👍

Good results for us around most of the division today.

I saw that happen in a FA cup tie - Rochdale v Oldham back in the early 1970’s. Rochdale went 2-0 late on up so the Oldham fans invaded the running track area trying to get the match abandoned. There was two mounted coppers on a little Kop area just to one side. They galloped the horses down the Kop, leapt over the barrier wall like it was the Grand National and galloped the full length of the pitch, turned around a galloped back ! People were diving head first back over the wall to get out of the way. How nobody wasn’t killed or seriously injured I’ll never know.

Enjoyable night out. We thoroughly deserved the win. North End didnt turn up.

Two or three stand out performers with Tronstad dominant, but credit to all.

This division must be amongst the most absorbing and hardest to predict in world football.

100% they’ll drop off. They just don’t have the depth. Have a couple of quality players that’s about it. Good manager, don’t get me wrong, but squad wise, horrendous. I’m just glad we’ve finally put them in their place and just dominated them as we should.

Yep get back in yer box! 😆👌

Had a good view of Gudjonson's header at the time and there didn't seem room to score. Watching it back it was a quality finish, and a great ball.

Yep had to guide the deep ball to the inside of the post definitely not an easy one to put away but made it look really easy 👌💪💙🤍

Good ball in, really good header. It looked like a planned move to me.

The more I see Gueye's header near the end, the more I realise, he is a shit striker.

He did everything right, got into a really good position, then made a complete balls of it. Reminds me of MGP at Old Trafford.

MGP should have scored, I am not completely surprised that Gueye missed.

I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I do wish people would stop with the hyperbole with Gueye. Yes he's not very good, but people saying he's the worst striker they've seen in the last 30 years, or the worst player they've ever seen watching Rovers, is so ott.

He scored or assisted 12x last season.

Think of some of the other names he's up against over that era.

Davies, Ward, Grabbi, Brown, Delfonso, Hirst, Stokes, Watt, Telavic, Varney, Goodwille, DJ Cambell, Jackson, Paul Taylor, Woodrow etc etc.

What a week-end Rovers win, dingles drop into the relegation positions, Liverpool stuffed at home.

So long as we forget the cricket!!

souness stated he had the ability but could`nt adapt to living or playing in england, did score that fantastic bullet header against liverpool,he was invisible a lot of times though, one dreadful boxing day game against sunderland he was particularly bad

I remember Grabbi having a goal disallowed for fouling Bartez was it? home to United.  Was another Ferguson call, ie nowt wrong with it.  I always felt had that goal stood things would have been different for him.  Yeah Souey got that one wrong, bought him on the back of video highlights did he not?

It's about time Ohashi learned some dark arts.. He has plenty of opportunities to go down and win freekicks, which is largely the only way to get them in the Championship, he could have easily had Small booked last night. Instead he stands and kindly looks at the ref, he did it so often against Derby staying up when he's clearly been fouled.... then asks for the freekick nicely as the game moves on, he makes it too easy to say no to and consequently is becoming a bit of a rag doll for defenders to see what they can get away with.

Does not matter refs seldom call for him.  Just one against Preston where he was wrestled to the ground and they get the free kick. I love it when the opposition CH at about 6' 5" goes down from lil old Yukis touch and win the foul. Same with BigMac opponents seem to get away with murder but he gets called for almost any little touch.  I for one am just getting sick of the crap refs we seldom get the crap in our favour though.

We have a set piece specialist now apparently. Corners and everything seemed much improved last night.

Prior to us scoring the commentators recited a stat that we hadn't scored a single goal from a cross all season.

What about Gudjohnsen when he scored 2.  Maybe headed goals from crosses.

Better he cheats rather than the refs be competent huh?
