Please bring back Hedges so this message board has a worthy scapegoat again!

Hedges would transform our ability to stay up. Far far far away our best left sided player.

Hes got his faults but he is a long way ahead of most of the squad.

Cantwell does tackle, wins corners and free kicks (check Opta). If we had a decent set piece coach and a decent set piece taker (I know, he takes a lot of them) then his contribution would be more evident.

Very harsh on Cantwell. I think part the problem is we all know he can be better. Still that dink for Jorgensen was quality.

Its not harsh - he routinely makes bad passes and runs, surrendering possession time after time - across the last two months.

When he was doing the basics right back at the start of the season he wasn't attracting criticism.

Baradji has similar issues.

We cant keep on shooting ourselves in the foot in good positions, we do it time after time. Id take Cantwell out of the XI for a bit.

Cantwell pisses me right off. He's a passenger most games in a side nowhere near good enough to carry him. He can't make a simple pass it has to be a flick or a fucking lob or something that loses possession. I genuinely think we'd be a better side without him in it. Even though we're short on quality. He is not a captain you want in a relegation scrap.

If Cantwell does find form a la earlier in the season he can be a game winner from midfield..

Baffled why none of his set pieces beat the first man it's almost like they've practiced the near post flick (like the Miller goal which he nearly repeated against Wednesday)

Am I the only one noticing that Morishita is a bit lazy at his backtracking? Watched a bit from the Hull match and he dropped of on his defensive duties inside the first 10 min.

I remember also thought the same yesterday.

What I noticed about this whole 'pressing from the front' we seem to attempt the player will break their neck chasing down a player but very rarely ever actually challenge or block a pass. It's almost like they want to show willing but it's absolutely pointless. Except for ohashi we very rarely win possession back up front.

Exactly what iv'e been thinking for months and the main issue i had with Ismael.

It's completely pointless most of the time football wise and all it has delivered is knackered players, injuries and late goals conceded.

Need to get a coach in who actually coaches a bit of football into them in the final third so we can create chances.

The hard running should be done across the park and in particular midfield not all the forwards trying to pin the opposition in their own box but never seeing the ball nor a chance aside from pouncing on the odd mistake.

It's like oh we can't create chances with the ball so we'll just try and force mistakes as our number 1 creative philosophy.

Can’t agree….you don’t survive in this league on “ dinks “ …men in trenches more a requirement.

I tend to agree.

More Harry Andrews, Jack Hawkins or Dickie Attenborough than Gloria from "It Ant Half Hot Mum" lol

Cantwell annoys the crap out of me - the personality he radiates just makes me want to slap him. Playing wise - he tracks back, tackles and does put a shift in but then fucks up what, for him, should be simple passes that would create chances. Has a tendency to put his teammates under pressure but does make himself available for a return pass - can understand to a degree that it must be difficult playing with players much more technically limited than himself.

All said: it is down to the coach to find a way to utilize Cantwell more effectively in an attacking sense but therein lies a big part of our problem. Tronstad aside we have nobody who can reliably do the hard work to be able to push Cantwell further up and be "free". Pretty much every game i have seen has involved Cantwell doing a fair amount of the donkey work. It is also baffling that he still seems unable to see many of the runs that are made ahead of him and i genuinely cannot comprehend why he has also become so shot shy (instructions??) as he gets in fair few positions inside left that cry out for a curling effort towards the far corner.

As for our set pieces: make the players watch this game on repeat. Sheff W caused chaos whilst we seemed to aim for areas where we didn't have any players...

Was there really over 12 thousand on last night ?

I looked for the attendance on the BBC web site this morning on the basis that it looked very poor from what I saw on TV. There was no attendance figure given this morning but just looked again now and it’s 12,285. They must be having a laugh, lucky to be 7500 from what I could see. It will be interesting to see what the police numbers are.
