  1. Like Alun Wynn Jones you mean? My guess is that the Obefami deal is already agreed, just delaying it so it’s not part of the overall cost - to keep Newcastle’s cut down.
  2. Let’s see who we can get in - then see what, if anything we can do with them doesn’t sound like a plan with any hope at all behind it to me either.
  3. To a number of posters who are saying they would rather play our youngsters than bring loans in from elsewhere. Do you know that our youngsters are all better than those we could get from other clubs? No, of course not. Does it matter that we should bring in the best players that we possibly can? Of course it does. Ive never heard such nonsense.
  4. With everything that’s going on plus a large number of staff leaving, it makes me wonder whether Venkys are on the verge of packing it all in.
  5. I’m surprised by that as well as Revidge John. Financial sense to who? Suitable site to who? I assume you mean to yourself? Rovers moving away from Brockhall won’t match what they currently have, will it? Wouldnt it be more sensible to have a default position of opposing any move from what is a fantastic facility until you know what the alternative proposal is?
  6. “Whatever they wanted.” It beyond time that they re-emerged and told the fans what it is they do want - and how they intend to achieve it, because I doubt there’s any fan left that has a clue what the hell they’re up to.
  7. Stokes withdraws from all forms of cricket indefinitely. https://www.ecb.co.uk/news/2202365
  8. Sadly, there are always fans who swallow these kind of “plans”. Just as they swallow the idea that selling your best players and replacing them with untried youngsters from lower leagues with a “potential” sell on profit is a good idea, or the right way to go. When you don’t have any money there’s no reason why it should take season upon season to build a decent squad. There’s as much chance of getting a squad together in the first couple of seasons as there is in six seasons. You can’t gradually build when you’re skint anyway because anyone half decent wouldn’t hang around for too long either. If Mowbray was capable - we’d have seen it well before now. Long term plans are for the benefit of one man, the manager.
  9. Reach in, Rothwell out. Is that it? Our closed season business will shake this league to its foundations.
  10. I was around when FourLaneBlue put an extraordinary amount of work into the history section. Is he still around? That alone is worth preserving if possible. As for adverts (sorry) Admin must do whatever they need to do. It’s fine by me. I’m just grateful this site is still in existence.
  11. What an atmosphere. Who remembers this game. David Hughes!
  12. Watching the intro to the lancs game. Total oversell. It’s being forced fed as to how good it’s going to be, how great the players are, are wonderful the fireworks will be, what a fantastic crowd and what a great game it’s going to be. It demeans Flintoff and Keys. It’s like listening to a couple of used car salesmen selling an old banger to an uninterested teenager.
  13. It’s hard to know what to say after reading that. I’m not sure I should even try, but anyway…. Your story is possibly the most moving I’ve ever read on here. Thanks for that.
  14. I watched last nights hundred game on tv. Not sure what to make of it to be honest. On the one hand you have some quality players on show, on the other hand it looks just like a watered down, kids version of t20 cricket. 5 ball spells of bowling, ten ball spells of bowling. Who’s coming through the tunnel to bat next? Umpires waving huge white cards around. What’s all that about and what does it bring to the game? Obviously it’s an English version of the IPL, but will it work - is there room for this to sit next to the t20 comps - or is it meant to replace it?
  15. If we’re looking for the reason why this club is in the state it’s in, then ultimately it’s down to the Walker Trustees. Jack Walker would never have made that sale.
  16. It was tortuous watching Malan, I thought he was going to cost us the game. Alternatively, as Broad said, with him sticking around he prevented the lower order from being exposed sooner than they were.…and yes, I was sure Livi was going to knock that second six. That would have been some finish. T20 has really taken off though. Some of the techniques these guys have developed are extraordinary, but that pitch wasn’t conducive to this format of cricket.
  17. Aren’t Lancashire one of, if not THE richest club in England? If so, where are those profits going?
  18. Lancs 11 points, yorks 8 points I believe. 8 points for getting hammered for two days then having the game abandoned because your pitch wasn’t up to scratch? Surely yorks should be docked points?
  19. I’ve been impressed by Saqib for quite some time. Pace, control and movement. He could make the test squad as well as the one day squad. Unfortunately I can’t see the same for Parky - as much as he’s loved by the lancy fans. He’s a bit of a sitting duck for the better batsmen that choose to go after him.
  20. Watched it on YouTube Gumboots.
  21. Then they might as well close the rest of it as well.
  22. I miss the days of Truman and Statham playing front of a 30,000 Old Trafford crowd. County cricket has gone the way of the FA cup. A real shame.
  23. Taking players out of county teams that are currently mid game? Loud and clear, county games are not important are they.
  24. Interview with a very level headed Jimmy after his 7 wicket haul.
