  1. We're not allowed to discuss him Stuart?
  2. A month will make no difference. Lambert doesn't want him and said he should have been sold two years ago. We played a totally different game at Boro and Lambert said that's the type of game he wants us to play. Quality playmaker(s) behind front players with good pace and movement is how he wants to go and left no room for Rhodes. No good bringing in a new manager then wanting him to play someone else's game.
  3. The point is to highlight how the modern game is played.
  4. Precisely. Watched the highlights of the city/Leicester game last night and Leicester were absolutely brilliant. The guys up front - especially Vardy ran city ragged. No standing isolated waiting for someone to give him the ball. He and his fellow front men ran their socks off and put city on the back foot for the 90 mins. Those guys made things happen and I'm quite sure that's how Lambert wants us to play. That's how I want us to play as well. Play the game at a high pace coupled with a great work ethic and lots of movement.
  5. Was there for that game. That goal got surprisingly little publicity. - then again, maybe it wasn't that surprising?
  6. Here we go - haters. Andy Cole was ten times the player Rhodes is. The fact that you compare the two tells me a lot Stuart.
  7. I can only shrug my shoulders Stuart. He didn't develop because of Bowyer? His all round game wasn't as bad as the "intelligentsia" on here make out - but you don't even attempt to list his other qualities. Then he was only paid to score goals, but "with better players around him we would have got more out of him" - like what? We were going downwards with him Stuart. We needed fundamental change. He carried a ridiculous price tag. Lambert Sussed Rhodes out straight away, just as most managers have. Lambert has done the right thing for the future of the club in my opinion. He's gone and we can now look forward. Will it work? Who knows.
  8. We blooming know he scores goals Stuart, that's all you ever say about him, so what's all this about us now having players to help him? We DO help him - that's how he scored the goals. You never, ever address points about his awful displays. The truth is that some football fans believe that if a player scores a goal every third game or so, then he's done enough.
  9. I think you were happy watching that garbage week in,week out. rather than sell Rhodes Stuart. Personally, I think if Lambert wanted to fundamentally add quality and pace to the squad, he had no option other than to sell him. We tried keeping hold of Rhodes and bringing in freebies to bolster the squad for at least three years - and all that was doing, was taking us further towards the drop.
  10. There was plenty of bounce at Cape Town Matty. Plenty of short balls went for four over the keepers head. If there's more bounce than that, they'll be going for sixes.
  11. Big trouble now 116-6.
  12. England need to be very careful here - they could lose this game. 23-2 and SA all over them.
  13. The clause wasn't at Duffs request either.

    Howard Kendall

Yes, he was still playing at Stoke. Player-coach I think.

    Howard Kendall

Very sad news. Saw him make his debut for PNE all those years ago. Brilliant footballer and very underrated by many. Even at the end of his footballing days he was a class act. kendall was respected by just about everyone he played with or managed. Good guy.
  16. He got paid if that's what you mean Amo. Kean was a sly bugger and knew he would be selling Samba anyway. It was in Keans interest to alienate the fans against him and what's more, it worked.
  17. Force? Where were you when the entire squad was sold Amarillo? Samba dared criticise the direction the club was taking when Kean took over and paid for it by having his credibility put up for public debate by Kean. We only ever heard one side of that personal attack on Samba by Kean.
  18. Jumped ship? Whether they wanted out or not, they were going. All part of the change to a new silky skilled passing side, built on younger and hungrier players from the lower leagues, - being honed for profit along the way. - just like our club always has done. Apparently.
  19. Yeah and we've done ever so well since. I seem to remember he was fine until Kean took over. He called out what was wrong at Ewood so Kean made it public - hence no return from that position. Great management that was.
  20. I'm talking about before the embargo J*B. That was the time. Once we entered the embargo we were stuffed, because as you say, we couldn't reinvest then. I wouldn't want the club to sell him now, unless all the money could be reinvested (preferably by a different manager), but obviously it can't be. Ideally he'll stay here at least until we're well clear of embargo. It's just a crap position to be in.To be honest, what I want is for Venkys to stay on (because at this moment in time they are the only people in town, with the finances to move us forward), for them to appoint a top CEO and give him full backing to make the necessary changes. That's probably all pie in the sky, but I don't see any other escape route.
  21. Didn't know where to put this. Blackpool got relegated, so I put it here. Bloomfield road 10 mins before KO tonight https://mobile.twitter.com/kevingallacher8/status/648929144051494912/photos
  22. No, we missed that boat.I understand why people rate Rhodes KH, he's a phenomenal finisher. However, for me team results are far more important than any particular strength of an individual.
  23. If we'd have sold him and reinvested that money wisely, we wouldn't be in this position J*B.
  24. There aren't goals from anywhere else DE. As Philipl says, it's too much to ask Rhodes to bear the entire weight of scoring. I haven't got any answers, there are no answers with the present set up. So I guess the only answer is to change the current set up.
  25. Maybe, but even with these owners the right appointments (two of them) could/would change things around very quickly. No one would care who the owners were if we were winning games and at the opposite end of the table. The owners are regularly used as a reason why we should accept the current dire situation the club is in - and that's wrong.
