  1. If Mowbray stays in position they may well be waving at us as they pass us on the way up and we go in the opposite direction. They have everything we don't - engaged owners, positivity among the fanbase and hope for the future - not to mention season tickets on sale for 21/22. Chairman Sharon Brittan said "I am delighted that we are able to offer your season tickets at a lower price than you paid last season if you renew during the early purchase period"
  2. William Hill now have Ainsworth 1/2 for PNE job, nearest challanger McAvoy 8/1 - looks nailed on. Can't help thinking we will be at opposite ends of the league table next season. Gutted
  3. Lancashire Post has Ainsworth 6/5 favorite for PNE job with only McAvoy really challanging at 4/1. I'm sure the paper has some inside info so I guess the job will be his if he wants it. I'd be absolutely gutted if he goes there.
  4. I totally understand your dilemma and I know many are in the same position with a decision to make. I would use the word reject or boycott rather than abstain. Take the positive action of not attending. Disapproving chants within the stadium will not reach the ears of Venky's. They would not take any notice anyway. If the first match with fans in attendance is the first of a new season then there won't be too many dissenting voices - new season, new hope etc. An organised protest outside an empty stadium will be noticed and hit Venky's financially. A total boycott is the only way to get their attention and media coverage. Embarrass them into submission.
  5. Maybe you could argue that he's done his apprentiship at Wycombe and is now ready to step up. Didn't Martin O'Neill do exactly the same thing? I understand that birthpalce and personal loyalties don't normally increase someone's suitability for a manager's job but Rovers' fans are desperate for some clarity and honesty within the club - not the sort that Mowbray preaches buth the sort that is heartfelt and genuine. Ainsworth would bring that and I can't think of any other candidate that would. My fear is that Mowbray will not be replaced and Ainsworth will move elsewhere and be a success.
  6. Unfortunately I don't think there will be a summer meeting which could mean Mowbray remains in situ by default - totally understandable with the terrible situation in India at the moment. Some things are more important than a football manager's job. Doesn't change my view on Venky's but I hope the situation over there improves quickly for everyone.
  7. Option 1 would need the owners to make the right managerial appointment, recruit sensibly and get a decent, knowledgeable board in place - Not happening. Option 3 would require excellent recruitment, patience, an understanding manager and a decent, knowledgeable board in place - Not happening. That leaves option 2 - perfect. Very little effort required. We already have the ultimate cost slasher in situ - right up Waggott's street. Motion carried.
  8. The one thing that Ainsworth would bring is the certainty that he would never be a Venky stooge. The fans need someone they can trust and someone who can rebuild bridges. McCarthy or Warnock could come in and do a decent job before moving on. The job that Ainsworth could do off the pitch is as important as success on the pitch - to me anyway. Managers who gain Venky's trust seem to stick around but that cosy relationship with the owners can alienate the fans. I believe Ainsworth could be trusted on both sides of the divide and possibly begin the healing process. Even if we remained the the championship for the forseeable future, we could rest assured that the manager was not simply milking the Blackburn Rovers cash cow.
  9. Not to mention the fact that we are trailing woefully behind the likes of Millwall, QPR, Luton, Reading, Brentford etc. How much time and money have their managers had ?
  10. “I’m not interested whether we finish 17th or ninth, personally. I’m only interested in the development of the individuals" What's this all about ? Sounds like a "non-competative" sports day at a primary school!
  11. Always seems to be able to talk a lot of common sense in interviews too. More than some managers are capable of!
  12. I'm not suggesting Derek Adams as the next Rovers Manager but I just checked out his record. - All lower league and Scotland but an impressive CV. He got 2 promotions at Ross County and then kept them well placed in SPL. Also a cup final ( beating Celtic on the way - not checked if Mowbray was there at the time! ) and a 40 match unbeaten run between league 1 and prem. He got Plymouth promoted from l2 and within 1 place of playoffs in L1. Now doing wonders at Morecambe. Wouldn't be surprised if PNE look at him as an option.
  13. Same for every other club. I will never be thankful for the Venky's occupation of Rovers
  14. It's interesting that nobody ever puts their name to these club statements. It states they have listened to feedback from the consultation process ( which was very hurriedly announced after the plans were leaked ) - so why on earth not consult the fans and stakeholders before wasting tens/hundreds of thousands of pounds drawing up and submitting the plans in the first place. Whoever is responsible needs sacking for that alone.
  15. Fantastic news. Well done to everyone who opposed the proposals and especially the people who put a lot of time into the research and the letter. A united fan base can have a positive effect after all! I wonder if Waggott crumbled under the pressure or if Venky's got word of the unrest and advised him to drop the idea after initially approving it? Either way it's great news and hopefully the whole thing is dead in the water.
  16. It's a strange situation. I get the feeling that Mowbray has probably had enough and wouldn't mind getting the sack. His body language, pitchside behaviour, interviews and general attitude suggests this to me. However, there is probably some substance in the theory that he won't 'walk' because he wants to protect his mates Venus and Waggott who may struggle to keep their jobs if he goes. Maybe the owners are leaving any decision making to Waggott so it's a stalemate. Waggott is not a football man in any way ( I've met him a few times ) - he is here to take care of the business side of things. I can't imagine that he would have the first idea what to do if Mowbray went and he was left to appoint a new manager. It could be that the owners have lapped up the brockhall scheme and want to see it through. Just think - Make a few million from the land sale, reduce costs in the future and have a better training set up than we have now! what's not to like ? A few restless natives are a minor consideration. So they want Waggott to stay in place until it's well under way and that means Mowbray stays too - whether he wants to or not. Mowbray and Waggott are getting the brunt of the ire but they are just a symptom of the owners' ignorance and lack of interest. As always, I will continue to encourage people to boycott (when you have the opportunity). We need to let the owners know how we feel. Turning up at Ewood out of habit just encourages them. I know, some people will say we will end up like Bolton if Venky's leave. I'd take that swap right now. Bolton will be back in the Championship within 2 or 3 years with engaged owners, a clean slate, no debt and an excited, rejuvinated fan base. Where will we be ?
  17. Give Tony his dues. He's stuck with the same story for the last 4 years - He wants a slow build. He's spent his time at Ewood putting plans in place and he wants to see them through. This summer will see a lot of work, laying foundations and next season the results will be visible as the rebuild really starts to show some progress. Tony is determined to see his dream reach fruition by the end of 21/22 season - But that's enough about Brockhall.
  18. That may be true but in our current situation it's a very important factor. What Rovers need now, more than anything, is someone at the club who understands what the fans are going through. Someone who will always do the right thing for the club and someone who will be prepared to explain to Venky's where they are going wrong. Not someone who will take the money and toe the line. The club needs healing from the inside. To me, this is more important than instant success on the pitch. If he can do that and get some of his own passion forn Blackburn Rovers to rub off on the team so that we can be proud of them then he's the man for the job.
  19. Away games only for me. It's been that way since the day Coyle was appointed and it will stay that way until Venky's are gone.
  20. Very little emotion from Mowbray in that interview. No passion at all. Didn't sound disappointed at all. All very matter of fact. Just another day at the office for him!
