  1. I am annoyed with myself for getting excited before the QPR match. I have managed to temper my expectations over the last few seasons but for some reason thought we might be able to finally become contenders this time - albeit unconvincinglly. I think it was the hope that 10 points from 12 without playing too well, may have injected some extra belief and determination into the team. No such luck! I really should have known better. I can't understand the apparant lack of a spark or any real fight. I don't think Mowbray's and Venus' pitch-side demeanors help at all. They really look as if they aren't that interested slumped in their seats. I noticed Charlie Austin constantly encouraging his team mates and shouting and generally looking like he wanted to win at all costs. That is the sort of character we are missing. I fully believe we had the personnel to beat QPR but we didn't have the application or the desire. Why is that ? I think I know the answer. I notice that in the LT interview, after describing how we managed to lose, Mowbray ended with 'Never mind - move on to the next game' sums it up really ! I can't comment on the wine debate as I can't stand the stuff but I think I'll be crying into my Guinness for many Saturdays to come.
  2. Certainly living up to your name with that post. You need to go to confession.
  3. A big opportunity today to show we really are contenders. I have been unconvinced by our form recently but can't complain about the points haul. Putting a consistant run together is so important and we have done that and confidence should now be high. If we can up the tempo and hit some really good form we will be in a great position. Most years one team emerges from the pack at just the right time. Maybe that postponment against Swansea has helped because we had a rest before the Boro game and avoided a possible defeat which could have derailed the current run. Also injuries are clearing up and we seem to have strengthened the defence. I am not Mowbray's biggest fan and to me he doesn't come across as someone who will inspire and galvanise the players but he now has a real chance disprove that. We are in a much better position than I ever expected a few weeks ago so here's hoping we can grasp the unexpected opportunity. 6 points from QPR and Preston and things will really get exciting.
  4. I'd play Davenport rather than Travis. I think he is more solid defensively and more creative going forward.
  5. I am still convinced Brereton was foisted on Mowbray due to certain criteria that were being followed at the time. He didn't resign over that and I don't think he will now - even if there is some substance in these rumours. Mowbray is stubborn and if he feels there is interference from above he may just dig his heels in further.
  6. I admire Travis' commitment and enthusiasm in the tackle but I think he is very much overrated. I think he is always suspect in a defensive situation and offers little in the way of creativity. Travis' energy is great but I think Davenport looks a more rounded and more influential player at the moment.
  7. The argument that Dack is 'not ready' will continue ad infinitum if he doesn't play. If it is a valid argument then it would also apply to Travis who has looked woefully off the pace so far. On the other hand, if they have been rushed back too quickly then that is down to the manager who seems to have a habit of letting the players decide themselves if they are ready or not.
  8. You seem to be suggesting it was correct for stoke to sack Hughes after those results but they compare favourably with the (from memory) 7 points from 13 games that Mowbray contrived in 19/20 season. Should Mowbray have been potted at that point ?
  9. Who actually makes the decision ? is it the match referee or can the clubs just agree between themselves ?
  10. They will be - Where's Blackburn? What's it got to do with us ? Why would we care ? Do we still own this team ?
  11. There's 'thinking long term', there's treading water while provifding excuses and there's procrastinating. Progress has been glacial over the last 3 seasons and has possibly slipped into reverse. Mowbray is in self preservation mode. I respect your opinion and would love to share it but i don't think the palyers you mentioned will ever be premiership players and there is no way Mowbray's coaching will make them such. If you think about it, most journeys start and end in the same place. I think Mowbray's journey is on the return leg back to the bottom half of the championship.
  12. Do it please. Or ask for your cutout to be turned to face away from the pitch.
  13. I had just convinced myself that this match would never be worth a tenner and decided not to bother. But on the other hand there is always the nagging doubt that I might miss out if something unusually exciting happens. It's the hope that kills you. I'll probably watch after all. I'm with you, 5 -4 Rovers win.
  14. Fans Forum meeting minutes March 2019: Museum / Heritage Project Still in the early stages the Club have met with John Murray of the Supporters Trust discussing suitable areas within the stadium: funding opportunities: memorabilia and former player / fan involvement. The Club are looking at perhaps a smaller exhibition to begin with to generate fan interest and kick start future funding. One challenge will be the naming of the project to make it current and exciting. Given the rich and successful history of Rovers cataloguing the memorabilia that is held by Rovers alone will take some time and will be completed before inviting donations from fans themselves. The club is looking at setting up a fans consultation group when time is appropriate.
  15. Lynsey Talbot is general manager. She is currently involved in a Rovers museum project. I'm sure the season ticket from 1891 would have been exactly the sort of thing the project would have been interested in.
  16. He reminds me more of Paul Shepstone for some reaon. And while we are on the subject, I think Trybull has very similar mannerisms and running style to Tim Sherwood although no comparison as a player of course.
  17. I keep thinking of the Commentator's remark at the end of the match yesterday- he called it a mini-scalp for Doncaster Rovers. He wasn't trying to be insulting but it was probably his honest assessment of our club's standing in 2021. The problem is that he's right. Venky's out
  18. I thought Mowbray's body language was awful again today. During the closing stages of the game, anyone with a passion for the club would have been on the touchline shouting and giving the team directions and generally acting like the Tasmanian devil rather than doing a good impression of Rip Van bloody Winkle. A very weakened Donny team won without really being troubled. Mowbray just doesn't seem to be able to affect a match by what he says or his subs or his tactics. The team just run around like a bunch of school kids without any common purpose or plan. I think we are all agreed, the evidence is now irrefutable. Mowbray's race is run. He should not be allowed to waste any more time or money. I see Hayden Carter scored the winner for Burton and they kept a clean sheet away from home. Another Mowbray master stroke.
  19. Let's hope we hear the word Sack again quite soon in a different context
