  1. Managed decline? We've just been promoted, refused bids for our best player and gambled £7m on a 19 year old who hasn't done owt. That's the antithesis of 'managed decline'. 10th place would be a 'good show' first season back in the Championship. There are a few sticks to beat Waggott with but stating the obvious isn't one of them.
  2. Just an unintentional collision m'lud.
  3. In 1989-90, when the Taylor Report came out, the cheapest ticket at Man Utd to watch Fergie's team was £3.50. Adjusting for inflation (about 120% since 1990) that would be about £7.70 today. At Arsenal it was £5 (about £11 today). The cheapest season ticket at Liverpool cost £60 (£135 -ish in todays money) Inflation-adjusted it costs the same today to watch Bamber Bridge as it did to watch Man Utd and Liverpool in 1990. At Rovers it would have been similar. Anyone know what a ST cost on the BBE in 89/90?. Of course football is different today (it's not really) and people can sit in their own seats but there is nothing 'reasonable' about charging someone £27.00 to watch a 2nd division game when you would have got on the BBE when King Kenny first came to the club for about £8 in todays money. Football is a rip-off. The fans are paying the exorbitant cost of player wages. However these prices have now been 'normalised' so that fans have now forgotten they are being ripped off. The arrogance and ignorance of someone like Waggott (and Mowbray) feigning surprise (and a bit of indignation) at the crowds in the mighty Div 2 not going through the roof is an insult. They will be in the top 5% of earners in the country. 'Let them eat cake' indeed.

  5. Our fanbase, because of the success we had for two decades, is bigger than it was then. Or at least it was pre-Venkies. Our core support is now 10k-12k, it was 6k back then as you yourself state.
  6. That's your opinion. It isn't a fact.
  7. Straw man alert. Thousands of seats remained unsold in the Prem. That's not really the point though.
  8. Sensational German wit.
  9. Thanks Ben? On a serious note he didn't look comfortable out wide, but he did look to show for the ball when he came on up front against Sheff Utd. He also missed a good headed chance but showed good movement to get there ahead of his marker. I hope at some point Mowbray gives him a full game up front. I base this on not much at all but he looks like he's a little short on confidence but will thrive when he plays regularly for a manager who believes in him.
  10. There seems to be an acceptance from some that gates will never improve no matter what the club do. I think that is nonsense. The same things were said before Williams slashed the prices way back when. What the club has to do is make Ewood Park on a match day an attractive proposition. They won't do that through surcharges, closing stands to home fans and moving families round. They'll only do it by making it affordable to EVERYONE and making EVERYONE feel valued. There isn't enough goodwill knocking about after the last 8 years to make pissing people off acceptable to anyone. The club needs to start by attracting young adults, the ones who actually sing and make the ground a vibrant and enjoyable place to be. This takes us back to the Oxford game. It was full of young people and they were Rovers fans. Fact. They won't all come back but the really sad thing is NONE of them have come back. That failure can be laid firmly at the feet of the club.
  11. Exactly this.
  12. I had a season ticket. Don't let facts get in the way. I didn't get on my high horse either and patronise and insult the people still going. That's the difference. Calling himself principled and others mugs looks massively hypocritical now considering we have the same owners.
  13. I'm not that desperate but cheers anyway.
  14. If you'd like though I'm sure Simon can ask Sharpe to let you be have an article too? If that's what you want..
  15. It was more that he picked 6!

  17. My point was he spent all last season going on about his 'principles' and the fact he hadn't been shafted by Venky's like the rest of us that still turned up to support the club (how very insulting & patronising) and then as soon as there was a promotion party he was back. He then starts this thread (even though the discussion was already happening elsewhere) with a long rant justifying his return …. then contacts Rich Sharpe to tell him about the thread he started on here so he can be involved in the article on increasing attendances that Sharpe is doing. It's quite hilarious. And shameless. If you're going to insult people for doing something, don't do the same thing months later.
  18. I'd have another look at MattyBlue's post and take it from there.
  19. Don't sell the Dack. The super Bradley Dack I just don't think you'd understand etc etc
  20. Asked for his favourite Rovers 5-a-side team he picked Raya, Duffy, Mulgrew, Dack, Gomez & Emnes?
