  1. Treble the odds if you also name the team he signs for.
  2. Kit now sorted for my Grandson and 6 tickets bought for the match. Big shout out to Miller 11 for his kind offer. He has made one young supporter very happy.
  3. I was going to buy 5 tickets today, as due to a very kind offer from a member of the BRFC Trust team, my Grandson has been chosen as one of the mascots. I tried to buy him a kit today at the club shop, but they have none and don’t expect to be getting any for two weeks. His kit from last year, no longer fits, due to a growth spurt. I have put the feelers out for a kit for him, but so far, no joy. Hope he isn’t going to miss out, due to that, it would be a great shame.
  4. It sounds a bit like where I am Tyrone. Both the Mrs and I decided to learn Spanish and we are both glad we did. It is nice to have Spanish friends who we can communicate with an if we decide we want to have night off and speak English, we visit one of the areas where we have a large British contingent. It is very hot at the minute, around 35C today and may get to around 40C by the end of the week. I am back in the UK for 17 days from Thursday, so will get a bit of respite. Have a safe trip over and make sure you pack the 50 factor.
  5. The secret is to integrate and definitely learn the language. I’ve seen people move to areas near me, only mix with the English community and not bother to learn the language. They quite rightly gets frowned upon. I live in a very traditional Spanish town. I have learnt Spanish and get accepted on the whole quite readily. Going out for example for a beer with my Spanish mate to a local Spanish bar to watch the Champions league game, City V Real Madrid is a good sign I’m accepted. Even speaking Spanish with a Blackburn accent did no damage, that night.
  6. I remember some of the chairmen, but until Jack Walker came in, I never really even thought about who owned the club. As a boy, it didn't really matter, I was a just a Blackburn lad, who was in love with my home town club. I guess until I was about 15 I didn't even think about the finances, just the players who put on the famous shirts and did their best week in, week out.
  7. Here is Groguet, the official mascot of Villarreal.
  8. Someone is really trying it on there. I get the impression that their owners are a bunch of shysters, there to make a fast buck then scarper. With the riches on offer in the prem, there is no need to stitch the fans up.
  9. For someone to say he is second to Kean and not by much, is bang out of order. He was not worse than Coyle and looking back, was he even anywhere near to Kidd and one or two others. Kean will never ever have even 1% of the respect Mowbray had and to suggest he was close to him, is insulting.
  10. Interesting and well spotted. Persons in control are Madame and her husband and Bala and no mention of other shareholders. Looks like they have appointed an agent in Cheshire too.
  11. Profit related pay. It is a term used when an employee gets a bonus, based on targets (usually profits) being met. in SWAGS case it could be changed to LUST. Losses under set targets!!!
  12. During 90's both of my children were born and both enjoyed free season tickets up to the age of 8. Their (now late) mother chose not to come, so it was 2 free and one paid for by me. They both got the bug and these days my son is as mad a Rovers fan as I am and that is despite them growing up in Bolton and going to school in Bolton. My son moved to Blackburn when his Mum passed away 3 years ago, so that he is nearer to my family and the football ground. My daughter lives in Preston and her son (my first and as yet only grandchild) is a Rovers fan and attended his first match at the age of 4 joining myself and my sin, as we proudly had the 3 generation attending. Who knows if my son and daughters tickets had been free if they would have followed the club as much, but there is one thing for certain, it gave the club the best chance possible of attracting the fans of the future. How nice would it be, if even a £50 season ticket was available to the under 8's were available. Sadly, there is no chance of that happening, under the current stewardship,
  13. I wonder what the equivalent of Forest V Malmo would be these days? Things have not changed for the best in my opinion.
  14. I guess the term, turning a blind eye, being quoted in the article I posted, could apply here. It’s not difficult to find out what goes on, in some of the middle eastern states. The slaying of Jamal Khashoggi was given plenty of coverage in the British and world press, but perhaps a lot of what goes on, is heavily covered up. To give it some perspective, would an announcement that the Russian state were about to buy Rovers, not bother anyone on here?
  15. I guess some people may decide this is biased, but perhaps this article shows whether the take over of our clubs by certain states, should bother us or not. It certainly bothers me, when blood money is mentioned and when a Newcastle Faun is quoted as feeling disconnected from the club. I guess it’s dependent on your morals, but I would not want blood money to be what brings success to my club. https://thewireuw.com/2021/11/29/newcastle-uniteds-blood-money-takeover/#:~:text=This past October%2C English football, western morals and football success.
  16. All I can say about this really, is it could have been us, not Luton heading to their place next years for a huge mauling. The teams now owned by states, seem to be growing, no fun in it for me anymore. I might be too sentimental, but I grew up when Villa, Forest, Leeds and Liverpool, all got to the final or won it, but as the Champions, not because the finished in the top 4. The game at the very top has been ruined.
  17. I guess if the same rules applied, we would have clubs going bust, all the time. It’s a wonder how FFP is allowed really, if football is an exception to the rule. It’s difficult to understand how the announcement made about City being investigated comes out, yet they carry on regardless and Newcastle suddenly become rich and then qualify for the champions league. Further down the pyramid, Wrexham are looking like the next Luton, now that they have wealthy owners and Wigan, who seem to have dodgy owners look like they are heading home n the opposite direction. Meanwhile at Ewood the ground and the pitch carry on being neglected, whilst it is reported that the owners, never fail to sign a cheque. It’s a strange old world, our beautiful game.
  18. I came across this when carrying out some work today and thought it was quite interesting. It may be a different set of rules for a football club, especially one with wealthy owners, but had me thinking all the same. https://www.clarkebell.com/blog/is-it-illegal-to-run-an-insolvent-company/#:~:text=Wrongful trading,-If a company's&text=In fact%2C it is a,to a state of solvency.
  19. I have some Christmas cards for sale. Let me know if you need a special one.
