https://www.pne-online.net/forum/index.php?threads/big-pat-bauer.3428799/page-5 To take just one quote to sum up the thread "Bauer seemed like the perfect defensive signing at the time and so far he is proving to be just that." Of course, we didn't want to stump up a fee or overpay.

Things that need to happen on Saturday. • Re-install Graham alongside Dark. Who cares if it's the only ploy we have that works, we are wasting months trying to find an alternative that is not as good. Every team picked by members on here since Tuesday has Graham up front. Surely Tony can see this is what is best at this moment for the team to gain results. • Allow players to get forward more. Armstrong's starting position is always deeper. You rarely see Travis getting up to Dack. It's like the solution to our defensive problems are to get everyone to drop 15 yards deeper and hope we can cover our deficiencies with more bodies. It stifles us going forward. • Play a left back at left back. Bell, Hart or Downing may well not be good enough but at least they know the job and are in a familiar position. Bennett is becoming a scapegoat because he is versatile. He was at fault for the penalty on Saturday. He was at fault for the goal on Tuesday. It's costing us. In fact, based on the last point and with Johnson proving ineffective, I think I would play Travis and Bennett in midfield. Bennett is more mobile, is no worse on the ball than Johnson generally has been, and i think is better than Evans. I imagine Mowbray would get stick for 'finding a position for him', but if I had the call that would be my move.

Walton Nyambe Tosin Williams Bell Rothwell. Travis. Evans. Downing Dack Graham Id rather not have Bell in but as I'm a firm believer of round pegs in round holes I would start him. Rothwell could be swapped for Chapman or Rankin Costello but it needs a creative option in there.

Gallagher looked a yard sharper and more mobile last time around. If he was in his 30's you'd say he now looks 2 years older. He just looks to me like a player who will ultimately have a regressive profile to his career. (see Danny Cadamarteri, Bradley Allen etc...) The worrying thing is I actually believe the answer to question Gallagher or Brereton may well be Samuel. And that speaks volumes !!

Just watched the goal again. I know he's not a full back, and certainly not a left full back, but what is Bennet doing. He tucks in when there is no danger infront of him, and leaves one guy behind him and lets another one run right around him. He's not helped by Stuart Downing, who clearly looks right at the goalscorer all alone charging into the box but makes no effort whatsoever to help out. It's simply dreadful.

The problem is we sold a keeper who was popular but error prone, and have replaced him with a loanee who simply doesn't look any better and isn't actually ours When we sold Raya, we had lots of names being banded around who most people thought were an upgrade. We ended up blowing the money on a non-scoring striker who we play half of the time on the wing. We had Jason Steele for a couple of seasons, and Walton is definitely steadier than him. But the club talk about kicking on to the next level, and then end up making a major change and being no better off. A few Wigan fans I know had the opinion when he left them to go back to Brighton of "Decent, but there must be better out there not getting a game."

I got it but a lot of the questions seemed to be aimed at walk ons rather than season ticket holders.

Huddersfield - Saturday Lunch for Sky

I think I'd hoped Johnson would solve that problem but, as you say, he doesn't have the stamina to keep at it for 90 minutes. Another thing I noticed yesterday is the Holtby is a very good footballer but he also didn't appear to be the quickest. -
I'd now vote to sack Mowbray. But before I do I want legislation passing which ensures the same funding for players which Mowbray has had continues on to the next manager, and that the next manager must have had a promotion on his CV in the last 6 years. In those circumstances, and following inevitable events at Preston next week, I'd vote for him to be out by October 31st.

He was good on the ball. However, off the ball in the second half, he was so slow to get back into position or close down. Especially noticeable once Trav went off. -
Just to cut out 5 pages of analysis, you are basically saying if they do not sack Mowbray then Venkys / Waggot don't want to try to go up?

Usual defensive masterclass. Graham will still be better than Gallagher when he's 44, let alone 34. -

I've never heard any booing against Bennett in the Blackburn End. -
Exactly. I don't go because its a game against Preston FC. I go because I can get dropped off in Preston in about 20 minutes, there are plenty of decent pubs and even though the locals really want to beat us they are generally friendly. It's just a good day out. I also don't think we are the lambs to the slaughter some are making us out to be.

Cringiest moments in Rovers history?

So basically your point is that we might as well give up because if fans aren't going to return after spending £10 to come to a celebratory party atmosphere in the sun, then a "£45 for 3-game" offer in the bleak late-Autumn is not going to attract anyone to come long term. I disagree. I think filling the ground for several one-off occasions will get people used to going to Ewood and may catch the imagination of younger fans who don't attend regularly. I don't have the figures but I'm sure season tickets and walk ons increased last year compared to the League One season. For all you know a lot of those extra fans in the Championship last season only attended one game in League One - Oxford. Doing a special deal to try and fill the home ends once or twice a season cannot be a bad thing, but those offers have to be things like Boxing Day or Preston / Leeds at home on a Saturday. A dead-rubber at home to QPR on a Tuesday night in April doesn't get people's interest the same.

Last year, and I presume this year, we were category D at Sheff weds. The ticket price last season , confirmed on the opening page of the match thread on this board back in March, was £33. We know Leeds is extortionate, but that charge at Elland road is being used by Waggot to justify fleecing Sheff Weds fans purely because they may bring a full house.
