It's mentioned in some places, no sources from the time corroborate that the white shirt with Maltese cross was ever worn. It may have been suggested at the initial meeting for the formation of the club (the date of which is up for some debate anyway) but there is no report that it was ever actually worn. There is no photographic evidence that I've seen to suggest that a Maltese cross was ever worn on the shirt. It's also worth bearing in mind that back then, if a player played for England they could wear the England crest on their club shirt.

If the club was in any way a real football club then they would have Toth and Kaminski fighting it out for the number 1 jersey. Kaminski was good but he didn't command his area in any way that I would deem good enough. I think Toth will come out a good one, he made it obvious when he arrived that he was here to be the main man and prove it. No doubt he'll have a great season and be sold for less than half his actual value. The club will then plead poverty and the usual lemmings will be telling us that we got a good deal. I'm just keen to see how long big Val will last. I reckon he won't see out the season.

The halved sleeves can be changed every now and again no bother but if the halves are not reversed on the back then it isn't a Rovers shirt.
