And the one wouldn’t be starting if Beck wasn’t injured. -

Being the manager of a top football club isn’t quite like me working in the toolroom at a local engineering company. Greater rewards carry greater responsibilities. I liked Eustace more or less from the off, in the early days I was in a minority on here. I thought he was a perfect match for us at the time. Having said that I don’t think he’s covered himself in glory in the way he’s moved on to Derby. I can see why people behind the scenes aren’t too bent out of shape at the news. If it wasn’t Derby it would have been another club. We couldn’t go on not knowing how long the manager would be staying. I know he’s not the problem , we all know where the problems lie. -
I didn’t see much of Paul as I was working on Saturdays in that era. RIP Paul. Once a Rover always a Rover.

Just got a text from my grandson in reply to my observations about the situation - “ Still bought a ticket for Saturdays game, not going to let it stop me from going “. I’m pleased he’s still keeping the faith in spite of everything. -

Anybody in pro football who is unaware of the situation at Rovers must have been living on the dark side of the moon. -

It reminds me of one engineering place I worked at. The inspection and marking out guys thought they should have a pay rise given the nature of the work they were doing. So they elect a senior guy as the spokesman and he goes upstairs to negotiate the rise. An hour later he comes down and says - “ Sorry lads, the management won’t budge on the wage issue. By the way I start as your foreman on Monday. “ True story. -

We’d half a team missing at one point. We did well to lose games by the odd goal and not get hammered. -

I agree with you about Sammi, there was no way he was staying once a Premier League club came knocking irrespective of what we could offer him. -

I liked what I saw with Litherland previously. As I said to my grandson - a poor man’s Franz Beckenbauer in the making. -

I agree with nearly all of that. As I said earlier, yesterday’s meeting was just a PR exercise. He’d already made his mind up to go over the weekend. He knew that the people sat across the desk from him would be unable or unwilling to give him what he was asking for. He made them an offer they were always going to refuse. He’d been at Rovers long enough to know that. I’ve been on the planet long enough to know when I’m being played. Reading between the lines he’d decided to move on in summer and he was just waiting for the right opportunity to come up. That’s why his name was constantly in the frame when vacancies arose. None of the above excuses the chicken chokers and their underlings from most of the blame. Who can work for absentee owners and not lose the plot in the end! Thanks for the Leeds and Leicester games. They’ll live long in the memory.
