  1. Man to man there is only probably one or two you would take and put in our side. Milwall just seem to play uncomplicated football as a team though, with a clear plan of what they want to do. We always look a bit disjointed, mainly because we play lads who are uncomfortable in there roles, and we never let a settled 11 have a go at it for a good run of games, even read an article yesterday on lancs live and Mowbray is quoted as saying "I've never been one to keep the same team". We certainly know that Tony.
  2. Weird isn't it, but that's modern football for you for some clubs. Qualifying for Europe is a great achievement, actually being in it seems to be a hindrance. We have been guilty of that at times, I'm thinking the games against CSKA and Genclerbirligi under Souness. On a slightly different note, but it drives me mad that teams situated in midtable in the top flight play weakened teams in the League & FA Cup, these clubs should be throwing absolutely everything at the chance to win a major trophy.
  3. I think Brereton replacing Dack & Gallagher replacing Graham ready for next season was the initial thinking behind signing them both in 2018 & 19 respectively, but in between that it seems to have all gone to pot with Mowbray constantly changing formation and personnel, plus the fact that the two mentioned have ended up being terrible signings.
  4. It was nice to see one of the midfielders breaking his neck to get beyond the strikers to be honest, it's something we very rarely see. I bet Mowbray was having a fit on the bench.
  5. Nyambe looks like he could genuinely terrify the opposition when he starts to bomb forward, so much pace and power, just needs to work on that final ball and decision making in the final third.
  6. I'm not sure Gallagher is a number 10. I remain convinced that Brereton & Gallagher were signed to learn "our way of playing" as Mowbray always puts it, in view to replacing the Dack/Graham partnership from the 20/21 season.
  7. Seeing as Mowbray doesn't like "flighty" wingers and loves number 10s, how about more of a 4222 formation? Seems like we went that way when we made the 4 subs yesterday. Probably get the best of what ever limited player is in Gallagher that way too, as let's be honest he's going to play more often than not. Problem is we would need two bloody good full backs to get that system to work.
  8. Whilst I agree with this, Mowbray's sides haven't played with natural width for the 3.5 years he's been here, I don't see that changing now.
  9. 2013 was the last time a side finished 6th on less than 70 points, it was Leicester with 68. Could be even lower than that this year with the way things are going. It really was there for the taking this season, and one we'll look back on in a few years as a huge missed opportunity.
  10. Mowbray will always go around in these cycles though, horrible winless runs followed by an ok run with the odd really good run thrown in there. In the end it all mounts to W1, L1, D1. More or less where we have been at this level since 2012.
  11. Gallagher to Palace just gave me flashbacks to when they paid us 2.5m for Shefki Kuqi.
  12. I think we'll see Bennett & Gallagher in for JRC and Graham.
  13. Face masks and socially distant seating, can't say I'm in any rush to get back under them conditions to be honest
  14. Interesting. I think it would be an idea not to have any away fans anywhere for a while and see how things go.
  15. Hopefully we'll send Gallagher & Brereton ?
  16. Yeah I was going to say similar, Brereton would have spent the season at Barrow if he had come through the academy.
  17. There's no way we will be signing a right winger whilst we have Gallagher on the books.
  18. Not for me. I enjoy the Christmas period too much. Plus, from a personal point off view I would miss loads of matches if it was 3 a week, every week.
  19. True. 6 years since we did it at this level.
  20. People have been speculating the same since relegation in 2012. The answer to that will be no, it will just be another reset like the summer of 2015.
  21. So there are "4 or 5 serious offers for Wigan", yet there's enough people out there who would have you believe that nobody could ever possibly take us on if that glorious day of Venkys leaving ever happened. Do me a favour.
  22. Out of everything Venkys have done here in the past decade, that would surprise me the most. I just can't see it.
  23. Completely agree, there must be 3 lads from the under 23's who can contribute the same as to what they have this season.
  24. I think we're very much at a cross road again as a club, going into this summer gives me a very familiar feeling of the summer of 2015. Remember the optimism of the opening game of that season against Cardiff, a decent crowd on and on paper a side that looked like it could challenge. We stumbled a bit before finally spending around two weeks in the top 6 around November time, before an awful Christmas period and an inconsistent second half of the season, which was masked by a good FA Cup run. That side had Rhodes & Gestede scoring 20 goals each, King, Cairney, Marshall & Conway as other attacking outlets, along with a back four including Hanley, Duffy & Baptiste, with an ex England GK behind them. We ended up finishing 9th and 11 points off the play offs. Bowyers time was clearly up, but we held on and soon enough FFP bit, Gestede & Cairney were sold on, to be replaced by Danny Guthrie & Nathan Delfounso, downhill for the next two years followed by a relegation. I can see things going the same way this summer unfortunately.
  25. Well it won't be us, I can't imagine venkys will ever put us in administration.
