  1. Thanks for explaining to us all that managers look to take pressure off players. It had certainly never occurred to me.
  2. You certainly have, you’ve made clear that people in football don’t always tell the truth in public… I’ll remind you of that next time you are trying to prove a point about something else and do a 180 making out what they tell the media is gospel.
  3. Err no you haven’t 😁, that’s you reading between the lines. Something you said you didn’t do like the rest of us as you aren’t ‘cynical’. A relief to you know you do really, as nobody can actually be as naive as you make out at times…
  4. Of course it was a gamble, but it was obviously a calculated one, as they got the keep a player that otherwise would’ve gone, and who they had no chance of replacing with a player of the same quality.
  5. Or the club saw an opportunity to tie down a top player that would have been in the PL a few weeks after that Wigan game if it wasn’t for the injury. Totally agree on the Mulgrew/Bennett/Smallwood deals though. I would wager in the post TM, Broughton era, I doubt we’ll see contracts thrown around with such abandon again…
  6. That’s social media, it’s a cesspit and every public figure gets it. But I’m sure he and the rest of the squad knows that the vast, vast majority of fans are great here. And I’d be very surprised if footballers are making life altering decisions on the back of a few dozen sad acts tweeting from their mum’s spare room…
  7. You’re reading between the lines and not taking comments at face value… thought you didn’t do that?
  8. There is no loyalty in football either way. The player will move on when he feels he’s outgrown the club and/or offered a juicy pay rise and signing on fee. On the flip side the club will get shut if you are no longer up to scratch/someone a new manager doesn’t fancy. Both sides also protect their interests/security with long contracts. That’s the game, it’s transactional and both sides know the score.
  9. What a show, compare and contrast to that current Saturday dinner time abomination on the BBC…
  10. Alan Mullery (remember him) used to royally slag us off on Sky, used to really wind me dad up 😁
  11. The side burns, the synchronised scarf raising, the League Liner… marvellous!
  12. It’s Venky’s, they don’t budge if whatever they deem a ‘value’ price isn’t met, so if that means £10 million is turned down then so be it. Though of course, if he is firing us to promotion in late January then it’s a fair gamble to take anyway.
  13. They do use paper pint cups this season from what I’ve noticed…
  14. Do some managers not see the team as number 1? If so, who are they?
  15. Can you outline in what ways he is improving/has improved the commercial operation?
  16. Thought you normally need proof? Or is that only when it’s something you disagree with?
  17. So the real reason he’s unhappy is because he can’t be arsed with JDT’s training sessions? Aye ok.
  18. Bit of a sleight of hand there by FSG. That reads that they are open to outside investment (and maybe a full sale at some point): A statement from Fenway Sports Group however refused to state that the Premier League club, as a whole, is on the market. It reads: “There have been a number of recent changes of ownership and rumours of changes in ownership at EPL clubs and inevitably we are asked regularly about Fenway Sports Group’s ownership in Liverpool. “FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said before that under the right terms and conditions we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club. FSG remains fully committed to the success of Liverpool, both on and off the pitch.”
  19. I wouldn’t say it was particularly peculiar. Standard response for some fans when they get wind that a player may be off. ‘Shit anyway’, ‘bad apple’, ‘get rid’.
  20. Being midweek and all the transport palava in the build up I can’t see too many northerners heading down, but plenty of London Branch will be there bulking out the following, you’d imagine.
  21. Reading Broughton here definitely points to that being a possibility… https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-brereton-diaz-transfer-25447980
  22. These ‘rumours’ get ever more daft.
  23. I always find it fascinating the ones that literally spend over half the game down there, often not even facing the TVs! May as well just stay in an actual pub with better (and cheaper) booze…
  24. We can debate the merits of Dack all day long. The difference he could make, sniffing out a goal etc etc. We all know he’s a far superior player to Hirst and Vale (well most of us do). But it’s all moot when there’s obviously been a personality clash… and there’s only going to be one winner. It’s a sad situation for all involved, but we might as well move on.
