  1. Then he can expect a sizeable fall in numbers, as Rovers fans will just not turn up at c£400 for mid table second tier football.
  2. I’m taking about this thread where you said it was an exceptional summer. If in your opinion, it was, because you expected to sign journeymen free transfers etc, fair enough, but it wouldn’t be my description.
  3. So ‘potentially’ exceptional then?
  4. The fact you had low expectations in May doesn’t make those players ‘exceptional’ signings.
  5. ‘Exceptional’ business in the summer? Not one signing is first choice and they can’t displace players freshly out of League 1...
  6. I’m all for this young English player route, eminently sensible. However, many of our top/established players are the likes of Mulgrew, Graham, Dack (25 next week), Bennett, Evans. Experienced pros. We can’t approach every window with this ‘jam tomorrow’ method. Biz - you said yesterday that you’d be happy to ‘buy players like Armstrong, Davenport and Brereton every window and we’ll develop a team to good enough to fight for promotion in a few years’. We buy players like those 3 every summer and I’ll say we won’t be. Instead we’ll be constantly chasing our tail, as some of those young lads develop, some just don’t and the actual top players we have simply move on.
  7. Looks as if he’s on the same page as negative brfcs again... TM: “I want to get #Rovers to the Premier League as soon as I can. We do need some help along the way to be able to win every week. I’m sure the fans go through every game and see the points we’ve dropped this season.”
  8. Indeed. End of the day I’m not particularly bothered. All that matters to me is that the club moves hell and high water to try and improve season ticket sales this summer. This survey at least shows some realisation on their part that more needs to be done.
  9. Fair enough, we obviously come across different people. But the club themselves have said it too. I agree, Derby, Boro, Swansea, mainly Ewood goers. Preston, Stoke, West Brom, definitely more than ‘tens of people’ that don’t attend Ewood and I’d imagine the club’s database backs that up.
  10. There is! For a standard 3pm away game in the north or midlands there will be ‘many’. I know loads, plenty of other posters know loads. I’m surprised you think that it isn’t the case?
  11. I would assume it will be because Leeds expect to sell out home areas before match day...
  12. £13-15 million. What can you do in this daft market ay? Going rate for promising teenagers. I mean if you wanted to buy players performing at the very top level, like a Shaqiri, theyd be miles out of our price range, costing... oh!
  13. Home support is up by about 1300/1500 on the first half of last season, couple that with generally larger away followings and the average crowd will probably end up around 14/15,000 which will bring in some extra income. But in reality it is all buttons in comparison to TV income. The club will never, ever ‘wash its own face’ outside the PL. Well it could, but it would not be with the league position or infrastructure the club currently enjoys.
  14. The way I see it is Mowbray knows the score at this level, he knows where we are lacking and the type of player we need to improve. I just do not see him wanting to spend 7 million of precious funds on an unproven teenager. How this transfer came about is a mystery to me. Is it because Venky’s will only release cash for young English talent, i.e sell on potential? This summer’s transfers suggest so. Was it a case of spend it on BB or lose it? If that’s the case and ‘there’s more where that came from’, then fine, I suppose. But 7 million on 2/3 proven pros could have seen us right up there in a wide open league, instead we’ve bought ‘potential’, that yes, sometimes works out a treat, but often these lads just don’t kick on like people hoped. It is a hell of a gamble for the modern day BRFC, so lets hope it’s the former for our and this ‘project’s’ sake.
  15. Brereton has offered nowt thus far, but at 22 years old, I would say Nuttall is crying out for proper ‘mens’ football, so get him out on loan in January.
  16. Difficult politically or not, surely he has to play in the under 23s? 15 minutes here and there won’t be doing anything for his sharpness...
  17. Heard Mowbray’s interview in Radio Lancs, he said something like ‘that shouldn’t happen, but maybe it shows where we are’ It does and the manager obviously realises we need to improve the squad. Full backs would need to be a priority.
  18. As I said before, depends on the game. Night match at Derby? Largely ST holders. A game like Preston there will be a shed load of non home attendees. Take my cousins as an example, they like ‘events’. Juicy away games with a day on the ale, Burnley at home, a big cup tie etc. As much as it annoys me they would never go to Ewood at nearly £30 for a run of the mill Rovers v Sheff Wed . There are loads like that.
  19. Is he the kind of player Pellegrini would want? I’ve no idea, but looking at who he’s signed thus far and the surge up the table they’ve had, I can’t see them shelling out big money on Dack.
  20. Local rag (or at least the Bolton reporter) now banned from the club... https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/news/17299203.bolton-wanderers-ban-the-bolton-news-reporter-from-university-of-bolton-stadium/
  21. Please no, then it’ll be ‘SIXTY THOUSAND screaming, passionate Geordies’ instead!
  22. Still vast areas to draw from in that region, The city of Birmingham is a milllon people with just two clubs within the boundary, the West Midlands ‘county’ has 3 million people, plus those clubs draw support in Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Shropshire and Worcestershire too. Brings home that if we can get our home support up to 13/14k that’s a good effort for us at this level with our demographics and hemmed in catchment area.
  23. Always a nice gesture, my mate’s dad was up there a few years ago. But hasn’t this been a thing at Ewood at this time a year for yonks?
  24. As a player, I can take him or leave him. However, bigger picture, the fact that the highest earners at the club (players brought in at a time of relative largesse) have been signed up on new deals tells me that we are competitive in this league again and that is a positive.
  25. Depends, if they are expecting a gate of 30,000 or so, there’s a good chance they’ll have the Up int Gods Tier closed...
