  1. Have to say I don't remember a short-sleeved round neck shirt - maybe there's some photos somewhere? Would love to see Rovers back in the 1960s round neck shirts with white shorts and socks - my first act when I buy out Venky's will be to restore it.? I have a replica V-neck 1960 Cup Final shirt at home. Still wear it on special occasions.
  2. Wages will be the stumbling block with the Boro lad, Austin probably too. We're not at that wage level as a club at the moment. Gallagher it is then, hopefully
  3. The Boro lad looks a great prospect and at 26 his best years are ahead of him but I can't see how the wages would work. He rejected Premier League Burnley to join Boro for £5k a week more so like most footballers is motivated by money and is unlikely to take a wage cut to join us. Austin is a younger (bit) version of Graham, holds the .line well and scores goals. If we can get him I'd be delighted.
  4. That is the best Rovers kit of all time Anyone notice Mick McGrath is wearing the older V-neck shirt (my second favourite) ? Where's Fred Pickering - had he gone by then ?
  5. Armchair experts....always the best.
  6. Yes, and another missed opportunity by us.
  7. He's not fit enough to play, which makes him unfit. Either way, it's quite possible we won't see him in a Rovers shirt this season, which would be deeply disappointing when a couple of good, fit players could push us into the top 6.
  8. Please read again. “He needs to do a lot of work on his body, so I don’t think we’ll see him for a while. I don’t think he’s even fit enough to go out on loan."
  9. 'd love to be happy clappy about this but I'm only quoting the manager. "He's not fit enough even to go out on loan," says Mowbray. I
  10. Mowbray....... “He needs to do a lot of work on his body, so I don’t think we’ll see him for a while. I don’t think he’s even fit enough to go out on loan." So we can forget about Chapman for this season then Another one for the "future" and absolutely no help to the possible promotion push. Disappointing
  11. Funnily enough, the council received a planning application this week to extend the treatment room facilities at Ewood and Brockhall. I wonder if this was in anticipation of Chapman arriving ?
  12. Dack moving south or north ?
  13. Sad day for Rovers fans of a certain age who remember him as a very good player and part of probably the best forward line to wear the famous blue and white halved shirt. He was a powerful winger with a distinctive running style and tremendous shot - his penalties used to almost break the back of the net. As an awestruck schoolboy circa 1963 I saw him at Sudell Cross coming out of the excellent bookshop there and getting into his new VW. 55 years ago but seems only like yesterday.
  14. Is it a Network Rail buddleia ?
  15. Someone has either put that up out of mischief or the story could be true. When has wiki ever been wrong ? ☹️
  16. In other matches... Benitez getting his wish and Newcastle going out of cup. Burnley won't be going to Wembley. PNE winning at Stoke in Championship
  17. Great start. Let's hope Mowbray doesn't go into defensive mode and try to protect the lead for the next 60 mins
  18. If Chapman comes it will be a case of another signing who may or may not improve the team. Is he really worth the time, effort, and, most important, the money in fees and wages?. Rovers would be better putting resources into signing permanently players who definitely make a difference, such as Reed and Rodwell
  19. "Small risk" but "big ifs" does not compute. Chapman is a huge risk in view of his injury record and lack of recent playing time. A player can have all the potential in the world but it means nothing if he is never on the field of play. Perhaps he's being signed to keep Davenport company in the treatment room?
  20. Yes I would. He was young and raw when he was with us but the potential was always there. His skills and overall game have now matured and he looks a top Premier League forward when he's at his best. I still can't get over he's doing it with Bournemouth and Boscombe Athletic, who to me are a fourth division club. But that's another story....
  21. Yes, Dougan. What could possibly be worse than asking for a transfer on the morning of the FA Cup Final ? Best - joint Bryan Douglas and Andy McEvoy in the 7-2 drubbing of Spurs circa 1963. Absolutely brilliant
  22. Heartfelt post and as a town club like Rovers and I feel sorry for you. We know what it's like to have useless owners who haven't a clue what the effects of their actions have on the community.
  23. Well, well well Nuttall..... I thought last week's goal was a fluke but every dog has his day. Very poor bottom team duly dispatched as they should be but ought to have been alot more. Tough game against an in-form Hull next week.
  24. Censorship, pure and simple Plus the probable loss of a young fan (and his mates) who have every right to feel miffed and walk away from the club at a time when it is struggling for attendances
