Rollercoaster of emotions today. Woke up early and was incredibly concerned at the start, then absolutely ecstatic with Root's batting and in love with the batting from Archer. Took me by surprise, after I'd completely resigned myself to the continuation of an expected batting collapse! How wrong I was. Fair play to England, they ended superbly today.

Woke up and checked the score- initially thought ‘1-1 vs Ipswich, it'll do’. Then I saw it was the second late equaliser conceded in four days….

I think the worst thing about VAR is that they seem more interested in disallowing goals than allowing them. It's over-complicated things which don't need so much thought. Football has already changed far too much for the worse in my view, this just adds to it, for me.

They'll probs still deduct three from us on Saturday 😅.

I think it’s more that people struggle to understand still holding that viewpoint, with the change in their career trajectories tbh.

Not so sure he’s Kean or Coyle bad, but he’s not very good either. I can’t warm to the guy either. Seems very arrogant.

It’s tickets sold, t’was ever thus. We know that isn’t the real number of bums on seats. I’ve been counted for every Tuesday night home match, but I haven’t attended one….

Shite season to have a season ticket, this one. I've seen one win this season- which was Southampton. Granted, I don't go to the midweek ones and I'm missing the SWFC one, as I'm out in Manchester.

Spurs look absolutely terrible going forward and their defending has been atrocious, too. Goalkeeper should have done better for the second goal, I felt. Spurs looking very frustrated and turning it into a bloodbath, but they’ve only themselves to blame, they’ve been woeful.

They were a bit lucky with the disallowed goal for Forest too, so it could have been even worse. They are just wide open though and too many players not performing.

They’re not that bothered, but still going on about it. Aye, alright then.

If we’ve just finished 7th( we should be then going for 6th at a minimum the next season, not selling all our best players and shrugging our shoulders. Not here though, save a few quid and hopefully don’t get relegated in the process. Exciting times, eh?

The bit that frustrated me the most was that I felt there were three wickets we gave away that were preventable, by just leaving it. As it was, they went for the shots and ended up out. Absolute basics.

From the hour I’ve watched this morning, we’ve just been Bazballed. This second test was a mullering, let’s have it right.

Just a shame we couldn't get them all out at the end, there. But, credit where it's due- we've bowled very well and made a hell of a recovery.

Tell you what, as bad as our batting was, our bowling has been superb so far.

It's perhaps just a foible of mine, but I'm literally reading every thread on the football board, then it's saying I've got an unread post that I've already read... Also, it keeps defaulting to showing me the thread of the 1992-2000 nostalgia one. I love Kenny Dalglish and Jack Walker, but I feel like I see that photo of them and Ray Harford 700 times a day, ha.

Not a great start to this Ashes. No shock that Crawley had a poor total, but we will need more from Stokes and Root this series than this morning.

So glad I got to see The Roses at The Etihad. One of my favourite gigs, that.
