  1. Past hour
  2. Gueye hasn't much form to lose! He's more likely to get suspended.
  3. For me, Travis is decent but no more than that. I take off the the blue and white glasses and can't help but think about what went on with him at Ipswich. Theoretically, he was the last piece of the jigsaw in terms of helping them to get over the finishing line. In reality he was a bit- part player at best. I think this season will be interesting and afterwards it'll be either; why were we stupid enough to let him go, or we should have got rid sooner. Hopefully the latter as that would suggest a successful season...
  4. I think that's a feature of how we set up to be honest. He's shown that he can drive forward with the ball well enough over his time here, if we played 442 (which I appreciate nobody does anymore) or even 433 then we'd see him do that much more I think. To be clear, I'm not arguing that Travis gets into every team in the division. Teams going for the automatics will have better options, as will a couple of others. But there are some absolute plodders who play his position in this league - we've had our fair share at Ewood! - so I think saying he's average is seriously underplaying his ability and how easy it should be to replace him. I hope I'm wrong, obviously, and that Tavares and Baradji are a class above! But I'll believe it when I see it.
  5. I think from a pure numbers standpoint we need another CF. Ohashi and Gueye will get injured at some point and / or lose form. You can't then just pick the other as the default starter. They want Leonard out the door (and he's not a #9) and Tyjon is too young (and not a #9 either). The balancing act is what player you bring in - you should always be aiming for better than you've got, and it'd be nice to have some pace - but can we afford that? I've said from the beginning that I'll judge Gueye (Target Man) and Ohashi (Poacher) when they get consistent service - with Kargbo, Morishita, Cantwell et al they might actually get that now. They'll be different propositions entirely this season I think.
  6. Admittedly, Skoda tech's come on a bit since the days of Franny Carr.
  7. Ah okay thanks for the update. Lots of promise in him right? Looks a star
  8. Seen a few say that, there was still 4000ish Wednesday fans there though. Full boycotts will never happen anywhere in football as folk love going too much, Blackpool came the closest with Oyston in charge, but they still had anywhere between 1000-3000 there each week.
  9. Going back to Rudy's disastrous podcast appearances back in April, a striker was part of the plan then. He mentioned all the positions he would like to sign and a Striker was right up there. For some reason, that was quietly dropped (probably budget problems?) But now seems to have crept back on the radar again. For me we desperately need a new central striker to compliment what we have.
  10. I mean the analogy started because I expressed my disappointment at having a painfully slow winger in the team. It went downhill from there.
  11. 100% I hope he does too. However if he doesnโ€™t then itโ€™s leaves more questions than answers. Personally donโ€™t see how/why he wouldnโ€™t if he genuinely feels heโ€™s been let down
  12. Thatโ€™s because of two thingsโ€ฆ 1) A striker was not in the plan. Honestly, it feels like an impassioned purchase. Like VI and RG have twisted Pashaโ€™s arm. 2) The striker will cost much bigger money and was not originally budgeted for.
  13. It very much remains to be seen whether the new players are good enough/up for it over the course of a season, but someone (or someones) behind the scenes seems to be actually trying, and other than the managers it's been a damn long time since we were able to see that. I expected us to add a couple of freebees and a bunch of loans to a very depleted squad and call it a day, this level of wheeling and dealing and seemingly attempting to scrape together a coherent squad with a tactical plan is unheard of in post-Venky rovers. I don't think that there is any way a random Saudi club came in for Buckley without someone here actively trying to find a way to move him on and actually make some money off the deal at the same time - in previous seasons we'd have just paid him off to get him off the wage bill. Someone is doing some leg work. It feels a lot more like the transfer strategy of back when we were a serious club. I'm also going to go out on a limb and say that I think this all comes from a decision made at some point after we had re-signed Forshaw. I think that at that point freebees and loans was absolutely the order of the day. We've seen this extremely late and sudden decision making before in reverse - when Ennis went from being a speculative punt early in the window to our marquee signing as the taps were abruptly shut off (not that they have been particularly opened now, but you get my meaning). This of course does beg the question why now, why not for JDT or Eustace? Who or what has actually prompted this? When are they going to get fired? How are Venkys and Pasha going to screw it up this time? It's shaping up to be the first season in a very long time that I am, idk excited seems strong but lets say intrigued, actually quite interested in how we are going to look rather than just my default of 'oh god we're definitely going down this year....' Venkys out, Pasha out etc. etc.
  14. Have to say I didn't recall that until I saw it mentioned My dislike of that man is due to his character, although I can happily add that to the list of things I dislike about him
  15. It's the only slight criticism I would have of Trav. When he indulges in the shithousery I think it's to the detriment of his own game. When he concentrates purely on the football, great player - at this level.
  16. Your Liverpools and Man City's didn't win all those trophies with negative thoughts. We're in for a good hiding before a balls been kicked, what's wrong with positive thinking. 4-0 Rovers.
  17. When have you ever seen him be soft? He might not be Tyson Fury but these claims he is soft seem massively exaggerated to me. Never seen him show fear or get leathered. Just plays his wind up part and temper well enough to not throw a silly punch and cost us a game.
  18. Both Goddard & Michalski have played senior football, however, Goddard was in the Irish Premier & National League (relegated with both last season), & Michalski was in the 7th & 8th tier of English football But yes, absolutely need a second choice keeper who is not basically a novice
  19. Etta James - Iโ€™m So Glad (I Found Love In You
  20. Canโ€™t believe after 15 years of lies people will side with the club, thereโ€™s 2 sides to every story and I hope Trav can tell us his side.
  21. Today
  22. Nar, I think Suhail was always the gatekeeper with regards to the purse strings. I think this is his last ditch effort to save his skin. @glen9mullan has mentioned previously that he is very close to the edge, I think he's unleashing the fabled war chest (to an extent) in an effort to get fans on board. Quell the unrest and report all sunshine and rainbows back to Venky's. Added bonus: he's managed to cut the wage bill at the same time.
  23. Isn't a Skoda brain exactly what you want? Practical, sensible, safe. value for money I'd say Ferrari feet and Skoda brain would make a great footballer ๐Ÿ˜ (all tongue in cheek obviously)
  24. I agree with this. The authorities should have stepped in when there was a stink of agents running the club. They should also be keeping a watchful eye on the court case situation but as yet we've not defaulted on anything. The fact that they keep pulling the rug from underneath anyone who gets within a sniff of 6th spot is just bad business but not illegal. The EFL can't come along and demand more of the Adam Wharton money be spent on transfers.
