  1. Past hour
  2. I'd take that right now here, as nothing improves until the rats desert the ship. VENKYS OUT - NOTHING ELSE MATTERS
  3. Today
  4. Push is going to come to shove at Hillsborough very soon indeed. When the HMRC winding up petitions get served the clock is ticking. No more kicking the can down the road Interested parties will be hovering and waiting to pick them up on the cheap when they're out of time and options.
  5. The problem is, England are overloaded with midfield players with the latest Anderson (an excellent player) breaking through and another who is ahead of Wharton You get the feeling Adam is going to need a move to a "big" club for England to pick him
  6. Born in 1982 sadly never had the opportunity. But although they won 3 out of 4 world cups including 2 back to back they didn't manage to win the copa america. Screen shot with winners on the left, defeated finalist on right.
  7. BBC reporting Sheffield Wednesday due to be served with winding up petition due to unpaid tax bill of £1 million.
  8. The one off shirt was being discussed in April 2024. They ignored many of our suggestions for this season’s kits though so who knows what will emerge… I expect the blue to be dark & the Maltese Cross to feature…
  9. If you look at the merch this year it is all made with chatgpt.
  10. If you look at the juxtaposition between Spain 2010 and Barcelona 2010/11, which culminated in that exhibition against United in the CL final I'd say it's fairly safe to say Pep wasn't the problem.
  11. I take it you never saw Brazil between 1958 and 1970 ?
  12. In years to come it will reach 11.
  13. Makes me laugh the blame Pep gets for the ill's for modern football. Barcelona scored over 75% of their goals through counter attacks, Bayern were one of the most counter attacking teams in recent years, City at the peak went forward so quickly it was breathtaking. What's happened has been a corruption of his/Cruyffs' style and turned into this possession at all costs nonsense, Cruyff always said look for the furthest pass first and work your way back. The opposite is now true with your Martins, etc where they do not look beyond the next line. Re Spain 2010, Del Bosque had always been a very conservative manager, in fact that Spain 2010 team had loads of internal problems about the negativity of their play, big fall outs within the team, etc. That team wasn't a a representation of Spanish football at the time, it was a manager trying to force his way on a team of players largely used to playing something totally different.
  14. Agree completely with this. JDT had extremely high standards. Those who met those standards and could learn from them excelled (Szmodics, Wharton, etc). Those that weren't up to it struggled and/or were shipped out. His naivety as a younger coach showed in his defensive organisation and kamikaze approach, but we were part of his learning curve (as shit as that is to take as a Rovers supporter). Having ambition, cup runs to the later stages, narrowly missing out on the play offs are all infinitely preferable to the shite we've grown to be accustomed to before and after his tenure.
  15. None of the people running the Club are Rovers fans, not a single one and Christ does it show. Totally detached from the feelings and wishes of the fanbase. This special Occasion should have been done so much better..so sad to witness.
  16. Yeah - that Spain side are probably the greatest ever international team, but I wouldnt be that excited about watching them. Just so risk averse, all about controlling the game.
  17. Superb stats and facts. Look at our history it's actually incredible. Heart hurts knowing where we are now and what magical history we created. How are these guys not known nationally as part of our heritage in this country is beyond me
  18. Do you expect them to actually do it? I think they probably just came out with it in the heat of the moment once they saw the reaction to the most bland and least commemorative home shirt imaginable. Things like one-off badges, kits, merchandise all require time, designing and expense. That doesn't fit with the regime's 'management' of the club.
  19. It is really really odd especially when intelligent educated people come out with it. It seems to be the most extreme case of Stockholm Syndrome combined with rose-tinted spectacles. I don't know if it affects other clubs and fanbases as much or not but there does seem to be this attitude that pretty much anyone and everyone who leaves Rovers, whether that be by choice or being removed by Rovers' decision making, are to be treated as inherently evil, unpleasant, good to be rid of, glad they are gone etc. etc. Some of it I think comes down to perceptions of personality, or some sort of grievance that these people would dare try and leave Rovers and that makes them a problem. I get the impression that people like Allardyce, Lambert, JDT came across in some quarters as 'aloof' in some ways - that is they didn't do the 'tea and biscuits' routine with people and all that. Or perhaps others were uncomfortable with the public declarations of ambition and wanting to get promoted asap and were more comfortable with the (very) slow burn approach of Mowbray. Anyhow, personally I enjoyed that 2022-23 season more than any since these disgraceful people took our club hostage (or I did until it became clear they weren't going to try and maintain it beyond Christmas). The facts and figures show it was the best we've had and probably will ever have under these gangsters. Play-off pushes and FA Cup quarter finals I enjoyed, more than relegation scraps to League One that's for sure.
  20. Be sure not to miss the BRFCS Ultimate 150 List first poll at the top of the messageboard. Including some wonderful extra reading including a fabulous piece from an Everton historian on Jack Southworth.
  21. Delighted with the early response and voting. Hopefully the names are bringing back some old stories or even introducing you to new ones. A favourite of mine during my research was of Jack Southworth from an Everton website. The Original Maestro in more ways than one! https://efcheritagesociety.com/maestro-the-jack-southworth-story/ With Les Graham (who some may remember?) in 1950. Jack made a return to Ewood after a ten year absence due to disagreements with the committee.
  22. Rufus Thomas - Do The Funky Chicken
  23. Agreed, with the exception of a number 9 and number 10 because they both played as part of a front 2 (oohhh how uncouth), numbers were never used to describe a players position. At least not that I can remember. It's now become en vogue to use numbers for every possible position on the pitch. The people who have brought on this trend just look like a bunch of complete clowns though because 1. They use the wrong numbers for the wrong position. 2. Show me a team in the last 20 years that lined up 1-11. 3. If you want to say defensive midfielder, just fucking say defensive midfielder! You're not clever because you have coined some bullshit term for something that's existed for 150+ years, you're just a twat. 4. In years gone by teams were far more rigid in their setup so you could expect to see the guy wearing number 4 to be a defensive mid, the guy wearing number 5 to be a centre back, 7 & 11 on the wing etc but football hasn't been like that since the early 2000s at the very latest. Formations change, player's roles change and the tactics have changed, a lot. Remember when Jose gave a central defender the number 9 jersey? If 6 was 9 eh.
  24. Pep ball is like hoof ball without the excitement.
